Android Games Catch-All

I have never been able to stick with one mobile game for too long, but the ones that I did stick with for a while were Enyo, Card Crawl, Motorsport Manager, Mini Metro. A few games I recently played to completion were Data Wing and Framed. I'm not sure any of these will be what you are looking for but I really enjoyed them.

Enyo: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...

Card Crawl: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...

Motorsport Manager: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...
Motorsport Manager 2: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...

Mini Metro: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...

Framed: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...

Data Wing: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...

Hidden Folks is finally out for Android. It is $4 but I may buy since it got great reviews on Apple.

And don't fall for the (imo) deceptively named Hidden Objects: Folks Episode. It is by a different developer and while black/white as well it seems very different.

Thanks, I've been waiting for Hidden Folks on tablet. I almost caved and downloaded for iPod, but realised that would have been ridiculous. Off to download now!

Where is that bloomin' chicken!?

Edit: Don't actually tell me, I'll keep looking... Here chick... chick... chicken... cluck cluck... chick chicken!

The only mobile games I have played for an extended period of time are Minecraft, Duolingo, and Crashlands. Crashlands is so good after beating it I restarted on the next difficulty level. Still play it occasionally.

I rage uninstalled Spades+ yesterday after my AI partner failed to get his bid three hands in a row. Three!

I wish there was a decent SP spades app with stat tracking. Apparently that's too much to ask.

Maybe you could try Tichu? It had a decent app if I remember right.

Or you could suck it up and play Bridge.

I don't understand why Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes doesn't click with me. DC Legends is my favourite mobile game, bar none. I've played it daily for most of the year at this point, even going as far as to purchase "gems" to upgrade my favourite heroes. I love the steady progress, I love the daily login rewards, I love all the activities. I even have an android emulator on my second monitor so I can run missions while I'm at my desk!

Galaxy of Heroes is the same game, but better. There are more characters on screen, more combinations, more game-modes! I just get so lost. Do I make progress in the cantina? The light side tables? Dark Side? Ugh, I don't know what I'm doing. At least with DC Legends, it's one string of missions, with "heroic" mode for character shards. Easy, straightforward.

This is compounded by how much I enjoy DC Legends, I've actively been looking for a good gacha game (I'm always looking for suggestions, so feel free...!). I've tried Summoners War, which was great, but had a weird aesthetic, Digimon Links, which didn't have enough depth for me, and now Soccer Spirits which I may stick with but gosh is it hard on newcomers (WHAT IS GOING ON?).

Anyway. I don't know. Bah humbug.

Amusingly, SWGOH is the only game I've been able to stick with and I play it every day. I tried a bunch of the similar ones too and could never keep with them. The game is not very clear on exactly what you should be farming (because a lot of characters are garbage), but if you have any questions, feel free to ask or DM me.

I stayed with GoH for 6+ months, but after a few level cap raises and extra modes kept getting added I just couldn't keep up with the grind.

Pretty sure it has its own thread around here somewhere, that might help.

Have you tried CardShark? It has all sorts of card games - solitaire, rummy, etc - including Spades. I've only spent time with Cribbage and Gin Rummy, but the AI seems fine to me... It has stats for each game.

Same here. I didn't mind giving it $15 a month or whatever. But then they added the extra gear system and it was just a farce after that. Marvel Avengers Academy all over again.

I think its not being clear on progression is what turned me off. Not only did I now know which heroes to farm, I didn't know where I should be progressing and in what order. There are so many tables!

I appreciate that players who know what they are doing are rewarded with many ways to progress into different areas, but wow is it hard to get started on! I think I managed to farm up Lando, but stopped shortly after because I had no direction.

Contrast that to DC legends, where we have 1 main story, a "heroic" mode for shards, PVP, and err...A single player raid? To me that makes a lot more sense.

Anyway, I've reinstalled SWGOH, could you perhaps give me a few pointers regarding which tables I should focus on?

I'm not sure what level you are, but when you're first starting out, focus on going through the light side and dark side battles (normal and hard mode) with what you have. Do the same with cantina. Basically keep progressing until you run out of energy or can't go on any further because of level or characters or whatnot.

At some point you won't be able to progress anymore, which is when you start looking to spend your energy farming specific battles for specific character shards. There's a couple main strategies to follow (Phoenix Squad, Scoundrels, etc.), but Lando is a good character to farm. Jedi Consular is another since he's useful even in late game.

Always do all your challenges, it's basically free stuff. Do your dailies when you can because that's how you get exp the fastest. When squad battles and Galactic War unlock start doing those too. It's a lot to do, but once you have a solid squad you can power through it pretty quick.

If you have any questions about specific squads or characters to farm, let me know!

I just discovered Rules of Survival which seems to be the PUBG clone that has risen to the top. It's amazing how far mobile gaming has come. Precision aiming is a bit of a pain, but just looting and hiding until the end of a round is still fun and it even plays well on my older tablet. Way better than real PUBG plays on my PC.

I can't believe I'm about to type this, but I'm actually enjoying Ragnarok Idle Poring. I don't like Clicker games, but I can dig this type of idle game.

I can't believe that isn't just three random words strewn together.

Apparently a "poring" is Ragnarok's ripoff of Dragon Quest's slimes: http://ragnarok.wikia.com/wiki/Poring

I played it for a bit, and I'll admit that out of all the idles I'd played, it was the best. I liked all the different equipment you could acquire. I may have to fire it up on my emulator, because my phone was juuust not good enough to run it fast enough.

Really neat little thing! I'd love something like it with a more familiar branding (Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy etc). I never played Ragnarok.

So I've been shamefully playing the Alchemist Code. It's actually pretty fun, and there's plenty to do every day. It has skip tickets so you can do the usual farming for materials to level up your dudes and dudettes quickly, but it'll cost you. There's a bit of a time vs economy mini-game going on with your daily resources. (Time is definitely a limited resource for me some days).

Anyway, worth a shot if people like the FF tactics combat style and job system with a not too ungenerous dose of gacha mixed in for good measure.

Also, sorry if it's already mentioned here. Game came out in November and I didn't go back to check.

Beamdog's games are on sale right now (at least their Baldur's Gate line)

Star Wars™: KOTOR also!

I've been playing Lineage 2: Revolution and absolutely hooked (level 48 currently). Been playing for a couple weeks. It's an MMO that almost plays itself but there's still a lot of interaction and things you have to do. Ya, I know that clears it up It's F2P and even though you can sink insane amounts of money into it, I have not sent a penny to them and still really enjoy it.

Don't forget if you have Prime you get a load of free quality games. Kotor used to be in them for sure, Alto I think, and that super cool princess game that was on House of Cards.

According to this article, Amazon discontinued the Underground "actually free app" program last year.

From Tech Crunch

“Actually Free” will be shuttered in stages, Amazon says. As of May 31, 2017, the company will no longer accept app submissions to the program, but existing participants will continue to be paid per their developer agreement.

Amazon will then end access to the Underground Actually Free store through its Appstore for Android app in summer 2017. The app itself will continue to function on Android devices, allowing customers to shop for physical goods, watch Prime Video and use their previously installed free apps. (The app was meant to serve as a combination app store and main app for shopping Amazon.)

Fire tablet customers also will be able to use their Underground apps and access the Actually Free store until the program ends in 2019; however, neither the program nor the app will arrive on any new devices beyond those already supported.

Participating developers will still be able to submit app updates, and will still receive royalty payments until the program is discontinued in 2019.

Finally, customers will not lose access to the free apps they already downloaded, though it’s not clear if those freebies will transfer over to newer devices if they choose to upgrade their hardware at a later point.

Bolding mine.

Ok... been playing it a little today... I'm in... it looks like it has depth and not a lot of crappy FTP mechanics... also its an idle clicker which is apparently my thing...

Any starter guides so I don't muck something up? I have 2 pets now... lvl 20ish archer... do we need a guild?

DC Legends

Well, I didn't expect to enjoy that one as much as I did.

3am came around quickly after I gave it a "5 minute shot" after finishing work last night.

Do we have a GWJ 'group' as I think I unlocked that some time last night? Not sure of the exact wordage (clan, alliance, conglomerate) as I ran the battery flat on my tablet otherwise I'd look it up

Rocket Valley Tycoon seems like it's up GWJ's alley. I haven't played much, but it mixes a bit of factorio with an incremental game.
