The Orville Catch All - Beware: Spoilers!

Yeah, I hope we get more Dr. Finn since she's one of the strongest actors on the show.

It's amazing, I never though I'd get over my hatred of Sherry Palmer, but here she is, winning me over.

I've only seen her on DS9 and briefly on Castle, loved both.

Huh, somehow I totally didn't notice that Penny Johnson Jerald had also played Kassidy Yates on DS9. Wild. Thanks for pointing that out.

Ok to rape people in the future I guess. I guess they did stop a war but there should have been more fallout from drugging people.

Despite the rapey overtones and the horrible premise of devoting an entire episode to Ed and Kelly's failed marriage, I ... kinda liked it? Seth is a very affable guy and his infatuation with Darulio was a delight to watch. Rob Lowe and Seth managed to save this poor episode with their acting alone.

With that said, I hope that this episode forces Yaphit to mature and drop his creepy, stalker behavior towards Dr. Finn. Every scene with those two make me uncomfortable.

Yeah, that was a really problematic episode.

Ugh. I wanted Yaphit and Doc Finn to get together, but not like that. And they acted like the diplomatic issue was resolved, when everything was just going to fall apart in a few days ... with the bonus that now both sides will hate the Union for drugging their ambassadors.

Very problematic. Still mostly enjoyed it, but geez. I do like that the original infidelity is now left unresolved.

Loved this episode.
Also loved the Star Trek cameos!

Clowns and spiders!

Oh man, I've yet to watch it, but I REALLY HATE both of those things. Ugh.

Well yes, the humans, the hillbillies of the galaxy.

Delivered in that sarcastic doctor voice. Could not stop laughing.

It's what your dreams crave!
(and sorry for the spoiler!)

I really enjoyed this episode, but I didn't care for the reveal that

Spoiler:

it was all a simulation.

On the one hand, it gives the writers greater freedom (as it did in ST:TNG), but on the other it can be a lame/lazy tool. Write whatever you feel like seeing on the screen, but then in the last 5 minutes: "Surprise, not real! Nothing that happened matters!" Time travel can be used in the same cliche/lazy way - which is why I tend to avoid those types of shows. I hope they keep this kind of thing to a minimum.

You've rightly pointed out that 'It was all a (dream/simulation/some test by incredibly powerful superbeings)' is a Star Trek staple. The 'There's hope for you yet. We've totally changed our minds about exterminating you' is basically S1 of TOS.

Mad Idolatry

Best episode yet! What imagination they have for this series so far. Loved the phasing world. 11 days = 700 years. Tremendous!

Sad that the evolution of their relationship went from YES to nah so quickly, though I think this will be better than an "involved" pair running the ship. At least their friends and she's been forgiven for her involuntary affair.

Some great LOL moments.

"I thought you hung up"
and
Latchcomb

really solid episode. I think the relationship turn was abrupt, but also reasonable and realistic.

Fantastic episode all around. Such a great first season, with lots of imagination!

It seems that since Seth MacFarlane couldn't be in Star Trek, he made his own.

Ah forget the star trek. and the blackjack.

Obligatory: eh, forget the whole thing

This was a pretty bog standard episode for me. It was good, but I was disappointed that it was the season finale.

Already looking forward for more.

The Orville Season 2 Comic-Con Trailer

Oooh December, earlier than expected

I liked the episode.
I'm not sure that is the episode you want to start the second season with.
I guess on one hand it reminds you of all the characters and the state of the relationships they are in.
You know Seth is going gaga because he got to show someone pissing into a "Grand Canyon" on TV.
I wonder if the actual stream was cut by sensors. I can't imagine Seth not thinking of it.

Isn't there a rumor that they are writing off Kitan? That would be disappointing since she actually showed some chops this episode.

Another tidbit is that they killed the romance with Seth's character's wife only to cast a new love interest that is the exact same archetype. (dark matter cartographer)

At least they seem to be avoiding the trope of the "evil boyfriend" that we are meant to hate.

Weak start, wish they'd cut down the relationship drama by 90% or so.

)

Are they really? She's one of my favorite characters. That's disappointing if true.
