Marvel Heroes - Catch All

We've granted 1000 Gs on PC for all players, and will do so daily. All items should now be 50Gs.

This is the best current solution we have with limited resources and technical limitations of the PC, and wanted to make sure this got out to you. Due to technical limitations on PC, we cannot make all store items available for Eternity Splinters (and can't do this without a patch, either). There is also inventory technical game-breaking issues if we make everything available for 0 or 1G. Currently all prices are reduced to 50 Gs while each day you log in you will receive 1000 Gs. Game on.

So if there was anyone you wanted to play but never got around to, now's the time. To get the 1st batch you've got to log in, log out, then log back in.

They should take the opportunity to have Squirrel Girl or Deadpool defeat everyone.

I've been enjoying the PS4 version lately. Kinda sad to see it go.

Bummed about this and don't really have much time to play right now It was always my go to when I had a few minutes to kill and needed to relieve some stress by whomping on bad guys.

What happened to the free Gs?

I got 3,000 and then I got none yesterday or today.

Picked up all the heroes and costumes I wanted, but thought I might get some team ups.

Sorry for the caps, just pasting the headline:
GAZILLION IS DEAD AND MARVEL HEROES IS SHUTTING DOWN FRIDAY, NOT AT THE END OF THE YEAR

Ugh... those poor devs. I know a lot of players are upset, but to be laid off the day before Thanksgiving with no PTO, no severance, and insurance running out in a week...
This industry really is a meat-grinder sometimes, isn't it?

Well sh*t. Really wanted to finish off a few heroes.

And yes that sucks for Gaz.

That’s a really sh*tty way to end the game. Gaz seemed to be a good free-to-play developer, but it’s actions this month have been horrible.

I'm assuming people got the same email i did, but just in case. Trion purchased Gaz's assets and are offering a free starter pack to some of their games for folks with a Gaz account.

OOOhhh, time to search the emails.

not sure if these are based on your accounts, but here is the link

Bummer. Was hoping there was news about MH coming back.

I got the email too. Which game of their's is worth playing?

Some rough comparisons are:

Rift is close to WoW circa WoTC with ftp trappings.

Archeage is kind close to BSO, but not as intricate.

Defiance is (from my limited time) fairly standard third person shooter, no cover system.

EDIT if I had to recommend one to try go with Rift if you like fantasy or try the new Defiance when it comes out.

Trove is a fun diversion. It's basically Minecraft taken to a loot getting extreme. It exists solely for your dopamine to constantly activate.

ArcheAge is a sandbox MMO that sounded great on paper, but in reality wasn't terribly good.

Rift is a fun, WoW-like MMO. It's had legs for a long time for good reason.

Atlas Reactor I haven't played, but it's a turn based pvp game where you have the large roster like a MOBA, however the game plays more like XCOM but with simultaneous moves (a la Frozen Synapse, if that conjures up an image for you).

Defiance is a shooter MMO. Was tied to the tv show, but it's lived a longer life than expected.

WOW like MMOs don't really do it for me. I never got into Minecraft. I tried Defiance when it was in beta. Atlas Reactor sounds interesting, though, I really liked XCom and Frozen Synapse.

Too bad they're not offering stuff for the new Defiance 2050 update. The older version is about to be eclipsed by that.

Archeage is a mix of sandbox/theme park components. The problem is at this late stage finding any open land spots is extremely unlikely and last i checked they still had P2W cash shop which causes even more imbalance issues. Technically it's a lot of fun, but no it does not have the depth of BDO.

I'd recommend Rift out of the lot, but it is starting to be a bit dated.

New Defiance is the same as the old Defiance. The only thing that has changed is that there are classes now.
It wasn't bad but I was shocked at how little had changed.

RIFT is certainly worth a 100 hours or more worth of fun without spending a dime. Being surrounded by dime spending stuff does detract some.

Yeah, Rift was an awesome MMO at release and did so many things better than WoW at the time. I wish they had been able to hold stronger.

Would be nice to see Marvel Heroes necroed. I still had characters I never had the chance to play.

Yeah. I didn't play it much, but I had a ton of fun with it when I did. I always have the itch to play it after every Marvel movie.

I think it is safe to say that if something comes back it will be a new Disney joint, and is likely dependent on them acquiring Fox so they can access all the characters.

Hmm... World of Disney is sounding more and more like it is coming to fruition and soon.

They already could access all the characters, at least for games. They only sold the rights to movies & television (the other studios could make games based on the movies/tv shows they made, but Marvel could still make ones based on the comics).
That said, I agree Disney likely won't revive Marvel Heroes. Anything new will be done under their full control and as in-house as possible.

Disney took the Stunt Island code and vaulted it. That was something that could have publicized every single property they have... I don't see any reason they would not do the same with this.
