Half-Life 2 Delayed or Golden?

Section:

I bet you haven't read that anywhere else yet. Ahem. Anyway. Shacknews points out that Valve is only as reliable as about 95 percent of the other companies in the software industry. Which means that Half-Life 2 won't be available later this month. While I'm not terribly surprised by this statement, I have to say though that the well planned announcement earlier this year in combination with Gabe "you can quote me on that" Newell constantly confirming the 9/30 release date somehow didn't make it look like an absurd idea. Half-Life 2 is now set for a "holiday release." However, it's not like there isn't a number of other excellent PC titles oncoming this Fall and maybe this is your chance to check out some games that would have been ignored otherwise.

Update: According to this GamersHell tidbit the Shacknews information above is fake and Half-Life 2 went gold. The CDs are supposedly in the production as we speak. We'll keep you updated on which of those two is the 'real fake'.

Comments

TF2 legacy has had to catch up with them, I guess..

Anyone think this is because of the problems with Steam and they are scrambling to get them fixed.

in a word... yeah.

Nope. This is because of genuine HL2 problems.

And as far as Steam problems go, the delays because of those will be announced separately.

And we know this because...

GamersHell has updated that tibit to include this at the top, so the fake would be them

Update: After a few phone conversations with VU and thorough investigation of e-mail headers, coupled with the knowledge that Valve isn't located in UK (e-mail header), we've decided to have fallen victims to an e-mail spoof (although Valve is still unavailable to comment). While VU PR representative was unable to comment on actual release date, we feel stronger than not that the game has indeed been delayed.

Gamershell is obviously staffed by incompetent {ableist slur}s.
