Doctor Who *Spoilers Abound! We've lost Containment*

I think it looks a bit like something Robin Williams would have worn as Mork. To me that's a positive statement.

I dig the 6th Doctor braces.

Don't like the horizontal stripe. The rest is pretty different and cool. Certainly provides the government recommended dose of Whimsy.

I'm sure that they had a long conversation about whether or not she should wear a skirt or pants and they were not sure what to do, so that's why they have come up with this thing that is neither fish nor fowl? I won't judge until I see it in action, but I do like the colour palette, so it could have been much worse. I wonder how much of her we'll see in the Christmas special – which is the first Christmas Special since 2008 I'm actually excited about.

Either that or Wesley Crusher's ensign uniform...

I'm not quite a fan... it doesn't seem very general purpose, which seems like a practical issue for the doctor. I guess anything after the 60's it would fit, and anything before then isn't the best for practical women's clothing anyway.

I agree with Pyxistyx on the whimsy part. I am hopeful that means she is a more whimsical doctor as I prefer Doctor Who to be less dark in general. I mean Matt Smith had a lot of dark episodes, but he was in general a happy and whimsical doctor. It makes the whole thing more fun to watch for me, darkness always seems more significant if there is hope and/or happiness next to it..

Call it happy and whimsical. Call it Matt Smith-esque. I care not.

Literally all I want from the new Doctor is a female re-incarnation of Tom Baker's Doctor.

I am 46 and I am entitled to that.

I hate the pants. Other than that it looks OK.

The best part of the new outfit is the person inside it.

Capaldi's outfit got several revions. I'm guessing this one will get a few as well.
I don't dislike it. I just don't love it.

Well I guess I'm going to have to buy all new TARDIS swag now.

Found the Breakout fan!

Yeah, that shirt isn't nearly as cool as bow ties are. Now.

I like it. I think it will look good in action. Her earrings look interesting.

I doubt we’ll see it in the special though if the past is any indication.

Hm. I don't hate it. It's not a direct homage to a particular previous Doctor like Capaldi's was to Pertwee, but there are some definite echoes of previous outfits. Unfortunately, now I can't un-see the Wesley Crusher resemblance.

ok yeah. Those fan art variations officially puts me in the "like" column. And I kinda want that coat.

I feel like we got spoiled with Capaldi and his fantastic coats. I want to love this outfit, but that picture really doesn't give us a feel for the coat. I hope i'll love it once i see it in motion. Running down a corridor for her life should do the trick.
If it's anything close to that second fanart pic, i'm sold

Fashion bloggers Tom and Lorenzo weigh in. Potential Log Line:

It’s distinct, yet familiar. It knows its history yet works to establish a new paradigm. It shows great familiarity with the franchise. And most important of all, it seems to be a gift-wrapped box on a silver platter to nerdy women of all – you’ll pardon the pun – stripes. Excellent costume design.

Meh, looks kinda frumpy to me. Could be so much better.

Elegant or fashionable.

I am not a fan of the high waist and the high cuffs of the pants, but that's probably mainly due to being teased about both in grade school (anybody else get called out for "high-waters?"). I'm sure I won't mind once I see her in motion, with the coat flapping about. That will probably look cool.

I dunno. Apart from Pertwee how many Doctors have dressed elegantly as part of their main costume. (Matt Smith's Top hat and tails was a one off). And as far as fashionable goes didn't most if not all Doctors spun the earth fashion of the times for something more outlandish?

They were all pretty eccentric, really.

But none of them are ladies, which is the real problem here.

Yeah, it's pretty sexist to argue that she is dressed too dorky or ugly to be Doctor Who.

Doctor. Freaking. Who.

If anything, that outfit is too sensible.

She's got a coat. She's got whimsy. It checks all the police boxes. Though now I can't get this:
