Guild Wars 2 Catch All

What was his main's name? Or his account name? Anyone know?

And you're sure he was in ZOS?

So don't make the same mistake I did. For some reason I thought you HAD to craft the lower level ascended weapons to craft the pre-cursors before a legendary and it seems you do not. I wasted A LOT of mithril and elder logs doing this.

finished off the needed mastery points so I now have my Gift of Maguuma and Gift of Insight done.

now the next thing to grind out is 250 Crystalline Ore, which means opening up a lot of Noxious Pods.. which means farming Dragon's Stand for a few weeks.

I've done all 3 paths now and it's given me a much better appreciation for the map and meta event, but it'll be a bit of a time sink. I think those runs averaged about 90 minutes so far.

I believe his account name is Casisto. Not sure of the #'s. If that doesn't work I can get you more information tonight.

Thanks DeThroned, I'll check.

Edit - Yep, that's it. Hundo Hammertime. I'll post on the boards.

You can buy a node for your home instance for laurels I believe. Helps out a bit

So I reinstalled the game this last weekend because an old college buddy picked it up to play with his dad. I am SO LOST! I guess it's been four years since I've played because I had four birthday presents in my mailbox. LOL! I have 3 level 80's, an elementalist, a thief, and a warrior. I logged onto my warrior and everything has changed. Do you all think I should just start fresh and level a new character or try to pick up on one of my 80's? If a new character, what is a fun and easy class to play? If one of my old, which one is easiest to pick back up?

I think my username is Sydhart.1397 if anyone wants to add me. My home instance is Dragonbrand and my main is Sydhart.

definitely start a new character and level from scratch to get a feel for all the new (and changed) systems.

Guardian is fun and easy

I was thinking Guardian, Necro, or Ranger.

Don’t get rid of your old characters, though. There’s no way to destroy a build so you might as well keep their progress. You’ll be glad you kept them, in a week or two when you are back in the swing.

By all means run the new character up the “hard” way. Tons of stuff to keep you entertained lol.

Ranger is fun, and has the bonus that when you see a “juvenile” animal, you can charm one and take it with you. Then it will fight for you and level with you!

If anyone who played GW2 with Doc_Awkward would like to contribute to a brief memorial to be placed and maintained in the guild home area, please contact me here or one of the officers in-game. I think it's usually a few sentences about the player and their contribution to the guild and players. But I'm sure there's a lot of leeway.

The memorials are maintained even if the guild home is moved, so the area is available for contemplation and reminiscences.

Is it gold that is donated? I can definitely throw some toward his memorial. Not sure what the cost is or what else is needed.

No, just text. Like a phrase or a sentence or two, to summarize him or his play style, or something the family would like to put. The guild handles everything else.

I'm not exactly sure how this would show up, but there needs to be a line in there on how kind he was, and also how very witty. There's a reason he's still the number one tagger.

Soooooo, I jumped back into GW2 tonight, and I've basically forgotten how to play. I tried to pick up where I left off in Living Story season 2 (mission 5, Hidden Arcana, IIRC), and got my butt handed to me. When that failed miserably, I switched gears and went off to the Crystal desert, and got my mount! Felt good, but good grief, I don't know how to play anymore!!!

It took me a couple days after a 3 year break to get back into the swing of things. Now I've spent a ton of money on it. See you in game!

Remember, the season missions are kind of hard. Just run some maps and it'll come back to you quickly.

The Living Story isn't a good place to re-acquaint yourself. I tried that first to get through LS2 in preparation for HoT, but it didn't work well. I then tried running around on Dry Top & the Silverwastes and doing the metas there which worked much better. I've been mostly back since PoF released, but I've barely touched its story because I'm still working my way through LS3, and of course the Halloween event caused a break from that.

Since influence went away and cross-guild chat was implemented awhile ago, does ZoS still have their always-represent-us requirement? It would be nice to see people with the GWJ tag again.

I do believe that’s still a requirement, by full disclosure, I haven’t double checked.

Still a requirement when I joined a month ago.

Except for WvW, since they usually join a WvW clan for that.

Do they have a reason or is it just one "The Rules"?
It makes sense to require members rep the guild if they're doing something together as a guild, even if it's just a bunch of members running around in a party, but that's about it.

I honestly think it has to do with being the oldest guild in the game, and wanting a certain commitment from members. It's also a (the?) dev guild.

But I'm still new so I don't know for sure.

PSA!!!! Remember to log in this week and unlock Living Story season 4!

I love Anet but Lord they release content too fast. I'm never catching up at this point.

I've been playing pretty steadily for the last 3 months but I'm really taking my time with any of the new content. I've finished HoT and the first 3 chapters of LS3, meaning I still have 3 more chapters of LS3 to finish, along with PoF(did map completion on the first 3 maps and I think about 30% of the story), before I jump into LS4.

i had taken a quick look around the new LA after first coming back to see the main changes, but the last few days I worked on the LA Exterminator achievement and it gave me a much better appreciation for all the details.

That's about where I am too (Lake Doric in LS3), When I'm not feeling like progressing the story I'll just do one of the HoT map metas to get xp for masteries or work on some achievements. Despite having them all pretty well kitted out, I've mostly given up on actually playing any of my alts, they're almost exclusively storage at this point.

A friend of mine gave me a Guild Ward 2: Path of Fire code. I've never played past level 20 in the base game. Is it worth it to go through the leveling process or should I just use the level 80 boost?

It's worth it to level a character if you're not familiar with the system, Tyria and Kryta and the game in general. But... When you enter a lower level area (say you're level 50 and you go back to a level 10 area), it scales your skills and damage and such to within a level or so of the area you're in. So you could in theory go to 80, then pop back into other areas to play them.

But... Why? You won't know how to play a level 80 character. You'll have basic level 80 gear with a generic build, but a minimum of hero points. You won't know how to create synergies between skills. You won't understand the stats, or the jargon around them. You won't know the story. You won't have crafting skills. You won't understand fractals or be qualified for raids. You'll be missing all the stuff that the players around you have, even though you'll technically be the same level.

The boosts are really designed for experienced players who are going to hit 80 in a week or two anyway. Why play a game and bypass all the content? I have a character of each class, and I have played most of them to 80 the old-fashioned way, just because it's fun, and I want to get the deep understanding of how each class plays, how it's different from the others and what it can do with different builds.

Hopefully you'll have people to play with too, who can help you with the details. A guild would be best. But if you're like I was, and like playing solo, the game is entirely workable that way. And the player base is tremendous. The mechanics of the game are such that it's nearly impossible to grief someone, so players tend to be helpful and friendly. The worst experience I've had is someone who snarked at me and refused to rez me for some reason. Big deal.

I hope that helps. And have fun!

I would recommend playing to 50, trying out a few alts to see what other classes interest you, using the boost on one of those, using that 80 to do the first PoF mission to unlock the raptor mount for your account and then go back to your main to continue levelling as normal.
