2017 MLB Season Thread

I am a little sad, but this team's been playing with house money ever since the Wild Card game (for me, at least). I hope they keep it up for next year.

We finally get our Brian McCann versus Yasiel Puig match-up that we've been dreaming ab...oh wait, I got Mindhunter and then Stranger Things this week.

I want McCann’s face to get so red at anger over Puig having fun that he explodes. I like everyone on the Astros but that joyless lumberjack.

I had not thought about that until this moment and now it's the only thing on earth I want. I hope Puig pulls out a batflip that'd make the Korean dudes say "that's a little bit much", just to spite McCann.

Mindhunter is the second-best series I've watched lately.

Let's go Astros!

WHAT A GAME! Man I'm tired.

What is with the Astros and epic World Series games? Sigsbee and I were at the game in 2005 that went 14 innings. I liked this one better.

Can't even rest up tomorrow night, because I'm going with TheWalt to see the Dynamo in a playoff game that's reportedly kicking at 8:50pm.

Saw this list on Deadspin, courtesy of a former Houston sportswriter named Chris Abshire‏ on Twitter:

"Running list of the absolutely ridiculous things that happened in that game"

Hell of a game. We got a great World Series last year, and this one is looking pretty good so far too.

This game...

absolutely bonkers.

Are you kidding me?

A lot of awful bullpen management by guys suddenly forgetting why you don’t overuse your guys.

I hate when managers go into playoff mode and try to win series by ignoring their depth.

This was predictable. They discussed it as he warmed up.

I returned home, the game had begun and was up 3-0 early.

I ate dinner, watched TWO movies, came back, and not only are they STILL playing, but apparently everything's gone all wibbley-wobbley.

They're never going to let us sleep. Holy crap. 12-11

Aaaaah 12 all!

The games are close, but this has been pretty crappy baseball. If our video game baseball played like this we would rage about the devs forcing arcade crap on us.

And don’t get me started on the comeback code.

Ha!

AWESOME! GO ASTROS!

I'm tired.

As someone not watching the games, just reading about them the next day, probably the only thing I'm going to remember about this series is that Astros fans gave Yuli Gurriel an extra big ovation in his first appearance after the slanty-eyes thing.

Perhaps you should watch the games.

If they didn't schedule the silly things for 9:30 AM then I'd certainly consider it.

Manfred's explanation for why the suspension will take place next season instead of right now was pretty freaking awful. Not to get all P&C in the sports section, but I felt compelled to reach out to MLB and voice my concerns.

That is true. But honestly, even if they suspend him immediately he has the right too appeal. So regardless, Gurriel was going to avoid a suspension during the WS.

True, I didn't even think of that.

It would have helped if Manfred had just said that.

Then he'd be accused of playing politics instead of leading the league.

MLB handled that extremely poorly. He likely made a deal to put the suspension off until the regular season and up it to 5 games in exchange for no appeal.

Were it me? Immediate suspension and right before a WS game so he'd have to miss at least 1 before they could appeal. Let the player's union be the bad guy here and appeal a really obvious ruling.

I had flashbacks of 1993 World Series game 4 when the Jays scored 6 in the top of the 8th to beat the Phillies 15-14.

What an amazing game.

Then there's a whole fight between the player's union and MLB when everyone already knew what the outcome was going to be. It was worded poorly but was about the strongest suspension given the appeals process that is allowed in MLB.

Meanwhile, watch this douche rip a World Series Home Run away from a woman and throw it back. But, he says it's okay because it was his sister-in-law, and he was just making sure she threw it back, because of bad omens.

Good thing he taught that woman a thing or two about being real fan.

Happy Halloween, everyone! Go Astros!

Game 7! I have enjoyed watching this crazy series, but am also looking forward to having my evenings back
