NFL 2017 Week 4 Thread

When the other team has only enough time to make an endzone throw, how do you let yourself get beat on a fade, and by a 5'10" receiver?

Mike Glennon might not be very good.

He's got 45 passing yards already. That's 1.6 Joe Flaccos.

The Bears should pay him 1.6 Joe Flaccos or 35 million/year

I stand corrected. Clearly, he's elite.

Tell me someone else heard that. Or was it picked up by the UK team's mics?

I heard it on the main feed. So did my very young daughter.

Was someone f-bombing left and right or something? I peaced out when the rain delay hit.

Remember to watch tonight's game on Amazon Prime and flip the language to English-UK to check out the "football for noobs" commentary.

I wish I had seen this yesterday, that would have been fun (more fun than the game...).

So . . . votes on how many games Trevathan gets? That was ugly, like I said, "oh my God" out loud when it happened. Adams is lucky he's apparently just in the concussion protocol at this point.

I'd like to say 8 games but probably 2. That was one of the most vicious, unnecessary hits I've ever seen. Adams was lucky there was (hopefully) no serious, permanent damage.

Listen for yourself. Probably shouldn't at work. Or near Vector's kid.

Oh oh oh. It was literally what Legion wrote. Good times, good times.

Hey look, Legion, Travis Kelce is wearing your favorite hockey jersey!

You should be banned for posting offensive sh*t like that here. I thought we had rules.

Rules are for breaking, just like your spirit.

There's nothing you can do to me that 6 years of Blaine Gabbert across two teams didn't already do.

Davante Adams suffered a concussion from that dirty hit by Trevathan, but his MRI was "clean" and he's on Twitter saying he's back home from the hospital and "feeling great".

But, Legion, I thought you liked Gretzky?

Everyone knows Gretzky is an LA King first and foremost, and then that bullsh*t stacked team that he easy-mode'd some Stanley Cups on before that, but that's it! The rest is #fakenews.

That was a brutal hit. It was hard to watch, and I expect my enjoyment of football will always be tempered a bit for having seen it.

Funny how having knowledge about head trauma affects our perception of the sport like that. The hit wouldn't be out of character for a 1970s highlight reel. But I'm pretty much with you, and I'm still having a hard time reconciling my enjoyment of sports that are all about violence (really the only sports I care about), and distaste for the long-term damage athletes are taking in the name of entertainment.

Fine and suspend the adults; teach the kids this is wrong. Only way this is going to change.

I realize this statement is applicable in so many threads these days.

It's not just the illegal hits though. Just the wear and tear of normal activity is more than bad enough on its own. I'm not bailing on sport violence anytime soon, but I have gotten to the point where I no longer think parents who withhold their children from football are being unreasonably reactionary.

I'm glad my kid is unathletic and will never play football, and I've said straight-up to a friend whose 8th grader is playing that they're risking long-term head injuries every time he steps on the field.

Love the sport of football, loving it a bit less every year. No idea where it goes eventually, but every bit of concussion research that comes out I suspect will make things worse and worse as times go by.

I feel like each week I watch the NFL it feels like a slow spiral to irrelevancy. It will be slow and perhaps not obvious but I think it’s all down Hill from here.

Maybe robot players will be enjoyable to watch.

Why does every London game suck?

It's either a blowout or a low scoring snoozefest, or a parade of penalties, or some combination. Blech.

Yeah, penalties here are irritating. Give me bad play over Ed Hochuli for three hours.

First scoreless first half in 6 years barely averted.

I mean 0-0 games should appeal to Brits no?

Looks like LeVeon Bell had shaken all his dust off. Cripes.

God, this Ravens OL is terrible. Gotta imagine lots of OL draft picks this coming year.
