I'm surprised that I felt like I had more control during the rain than I did with the dry conditions. I think maybe I got a little too confident thinking that the tyres had more grip or something? All I know is that I was glad to pull out a 5th place finish after spinning out fairly early on. Oh, and I got to learn some fuel management in that second race, so that was also fun I was at .9 on the fuel gauge, so I was happy to have not been on the lead lap--pretty sure I wouldn't haven't been able to finish the race for another lap. If not, I certainly would have had to give up my spot to Nick to conserve fuel.
Damn fine racing, everyone! I need to go back and watch the replay because it seemed like quite a battle up front for awhile there.
All I needed was one more lap. I was slowly reeling you in on what was our last lap. Being a lap down be damned.
Yeah, I had a good lead on you, but I spun in that last hairpin and you got within 1-3 seconds behind me. With barely any front left and almost running on fumes, I was so glad to see the "Race Complete" notification pop up coming around the hairpin on lap 20.
This track was one of the better racing experiences I've had just in terms of car management, staying consistent, and general strategy. I was considering doing two pit stops in the first race because I was just tearing up the wet tyres, but I noticed that I was in a good position so I figured I'd push it. Turned out to work rather well.

Talking about fuel management, I completely under estimated the amount of fuel I would use in race 1, on top of having a crash on lap 6, forcing me to pit 4 laps early to fix the car. I ended up finishing on shredded LF tire, my low fuel light came on right after turn 1 on last lap, I ended up nursing the car around the track only to run out on final straight, but luckily I had enough momentum to coast to the finish line.
The low technical level of the track certainly kept a few pairs grouped up and there was some nice racing across both runs.
It's a shame the game doesn't enforce the turn one track limits, but that's pCars for you.
Most race nights tend to fall on Sunday. There is the occasional oddball night, though. Maybe you can give up the NFL for racing? I did and haven't looked back.
I tend to watch from about 7pm to 1am UK time, so during your Sunday afternoon games. If your races fall within that timeframe I'll happily miss an hour or two! But if you mean during the 'primetime' slot then I'll probably be catching zzz's by then. In any case, I have sounded out fellow euro goodjers about getting together for something on 4 wheels, wish me luck!
That was fun tonight! Mixed conditions really mixed up everyone's race.
The reason race one times are much slower...
Pcars va être Pcars!
I love how your pet crew has perfectly matched their uniforms with your livery.
They're miming the perfect uniform.
The fog in race two was worse than the rain in race one. All my braking points were lost, like tears, in rain fog.
And yet, you managed to put in a fastest lap nearly 2 seconds faster than Lupus.
I didn't mind the fog too much, only because the spray from the cars in the rain make it pretty damn impossible to see ANYTHING, including how close the cars are in front of me.
I'm glad you competed. If only for the part where you were sideways, fifteen feet in the air.
I think that was Toph? I know that Lupus definitely did the initial hit.
EDIT: Oh, you mean the 2nd time in the back of the track? Yeah, that was definitely Lupus. He was going to make a move to pass me on the right, and your car was just sort of...there. No time to really react at all--it was right after the second chicken and going up a hill. It's at around 1:07:00 in the stream.
I think the fog and rain actually *help* me, by strongly encouraging me to not push the limit so hard.
As ever, my race strategy is "maintain > 3 wheels attached to the car and hope everyone else screws up", because, as my dropping to last place in the final lap of race 2 showed, the second I start to get aggressive, it all goes to sh*t (you're welcome, Matt).

Yeah, 100% of the reason I fail is because I try to go a little more aggressive to either maintain a lead or try to gain a few seconds. My usual inclination when driving fast is to just coast my way through turns because I always end up braking too hard. The only problem is that with the Gulf taking my foot off the gas even a little bit in the wrong spot spins that damn car around (and then killing my tires almost immediately).
The thing that gets me is after watching Lupus' stream and the Bismark on the monitor during qualifying is that I'm not really that far off from where their entrances, gears, braking points, etc are, but for some reason you guys aren't spinning out or losing control at all. I'll have to record some of my own racing to compare for sure, but it seems like I should be closer than 3-4 seconds behind the front of the pack every race

You sure you were watching my stream? I spun way more than my usual last night.
Apoligies to Nick. Yes, I in fact managed to hit you twice in one race.

You were following me pretty steadily for a few laps in one of the races last night - race 1 I think?
Issues with braking could be about brake application - how you're braking rather than where. Same with acceleration.
Also with winged cars it's worth remembering the downforce is your friend and you may struggle with a corner because you're going too slow not too fast.
The first corner that comes to mind is the left hand turn after the Corkscrew at Laguna Seca - trying to roll through there off the gas is hard, but if you keep a tiny bit of throttle in it suddenly becomes a completely different corner.

My experience of following faster folks (i.e. when they lap me) is that it’s as much about re-application of throttle on corner exit as it is brake application on corner entry. I seem to be holding off getting back on the gas (to be fair, often because I borked the entry, but often just because I’m being overly cautious to avoid yet another spin) such that even when I follow them through a corner well, they’ll start tearing away from me after we’re out of the corner.
Is there a not-too-hard way to get telemetry data? Like graphs of gas/brake pedal positions? I've heard one of you lot talking about a telemetry app. I'd be interested to compare the Bismarck/Lupus/Fastmav traces against the me/Nickson/Domano traces.
Engineers gonna engineer,yo.
