The Witcher 3 Catch-All

I know absolutely nothing about this world, and was just given a choice about whether I wanted to turn over a guerrilla fighter to the Nilfgaardians or not. Decided to do so, because the only Nilfgaardian comander I had interacted with seemed a decent enough sort. Is being pro-Nilfgaardian a fun play choice? Does it matter?

It does a bit.

In the long run I have found that no decision is "right" they are just varying degrees of bad. It isn't a happy world.

I'll add there are some major political effects to certain missions but the stuff that really matters in terms of Geralt himself are little interpersonal events you may not even recognize as being important. Just like life, man.

If it makes it any easier, just think of it as if Nilfgaard is being run by Tywin Lannister and Redania is being run by Roose Bolton.

That's a really good analogy!

I can't recommend them enough. Really enjoying them. I strongly recommend you start with "The last wish".

There's a lot of really interesting backstory stuff about Yennefer in The Last Wish. I don't think her character was set up very well in the games, so I'd almost call it required reading.

Yes! Also I'm now on "Baptism of fire". Geralt has met Zoltan for the first time. Also those of you who enjoyed the Blood and wine DLC will be interested to note that this is the book where he meets

Spoiler:

Regis

.

And yes the whole group get very drunk on

Spoiler:

mandrake moonshine.

They expansion we need!

The first books are great, the ones not connected to the "saga."

The Saga itself, is a bit of mixed bag. I enjoy the setting, and the characters. However the plot and structure were not to my liking. There's a lot of artifice and meta layers to the later books that became....old to me rather quickly. Along with a particularly gratuitous scene in the last book that soured my taste for the conclusion.

So this just dropped from CD Projekt. Basically the Epilogue of epilogues for The Witcher 3. Seriously, how can you not love this? How can you also not love a company that takes the time out to create such an amazing thank you letter to its fans?

Well done CD Projekt. You have replaced Bioware as my Day 1 purchase developers. (Bioware is still Day 2 but you get the idea).

The emotions. I felt them.

CDPR are the best.

So good, I genuinely got a bit weepy.

Honestly, I did too.

Definitely choked up a bit. We've been through a lot Geralt and I.

It did get a bit dusty in here...

Dammit Roach! How did you get in the house?

I've watched it a few times and it gets my eyes to tear up. Without hesitation, I'd call CDPR The Witcher series my favourite work of fiction.

That was very cool.

There's 2 parts of that video that just summarize everything I loved about the game's animations. When Geralt stops his soliloquy, before he breaks the fourth wall and speaks directly to you, he looks down for a second and pauses. It's such a subtle expression. The game was full of them. The other one is the slight smile on his face when he says "Thanks for everything" to you. It actually looks like a smile filled with gratitude. Truly impressive.

Gotta admit, it almost made me reinstall the game.

One of the greatest videogame journeys you can ever embark on.

A beautiful thank you from the CD Projekt Red team, I love these characters a great deal & the stories they are involved in, such fond memories that only get stronger as time passes.

Such an awesome video game company and game series. I miss these guys.

Even Dandelion.

I'm sad that I can't watch this video yet. Gotta finish the game first.

Great video, thank you for sharing. It makes me want to get back on my PC play through since I still haven't started the DLC.

Should I hold off on watching that vid until I finish the DLC? I finished the main game well over a year ago, but I'm paying through again on PC and then doing the DLC.

There's nothing spoilery in the video.

No but the meaning/impact wouldn't be the same.

Haven't played the DLC and it hit me like a train. The sentiment stands, even if you don't know all the characters.

You haven't played the DLC yet?

No. Confluence of time and finances hasn't come together.

I can wish can't I?

Hard to imagine the Switch handling Witcher 2 and 3 without some fairly serious compromises.
