Monster Hunter World Catch-All

That looks really good.

That's the trailer they should have shown at E3!

I am so flippin' excited. The monsters look amazing.

Here's another trailer just released. Not so much a hype trailer as a very simple summary of the basic gameplay loop.

It looks like Capcom is really putting some effort into educating Western audiences on what Monster Hunter is and why they should care. That's good to see.

Also of great importance from that trailer, you can see the weapon upgrade paths at the blacksmith! That's a fantastic change. It'll save me so much time looking up online wikis and upgrade trees.

Fantastic. Not having to have a wiki open to see upgrade paths is a very welcome addition to MH. I'm more impressed with every new bit of info we're getting on the game.

Game looks fantastic.

Looks awesome. Now only if they'd implement monsters made of meat, instead of concrete. Having the weapon trees in-game instead of Kiranico is indeed very, very nice.

New videos from Gamescom:

This video features a couple new monsters than the previous video.

Gorgeous.

So are we all doing PS4 or waiting for PC?

I mean, if I'm being realistic here... both

I want to play on PC, but I'm not waiting for it if it's more than a week later than the console version.

PS4 in my case.

XB1 in mine

Watch that third video if you're going to watch any, the IGN live demo. It's a walkthrough with the developers, and so much new stuff is shown off.

PS4 for me.

Pretty sure I've said it before, but PC for me. Unless if PS4 is a REALLY long time before (like 2 months+) then I might double dip.

I'd like to play on PC, but this is the big question for me too: How much later is the PC version coming, and what kind of shape will it be in on day 1?

It's next to impossible it'll happen, and it certainly wouldn't be simple to do, but this really seems like the perfect example of a game that could do shared, service-driven progression and multiplayer without having to worry about a lot of the usual excuses games make for not providing that.

I hate to see the player-base splinter, but both Sony and Microsoft would be unlikely to agree anyway.

I feel a bit guilty... but I really could see myself with both versions and maining different weapons on each platform and having different groups to play with.

The kicker though, is the online subscription needed on console.

No choice - PS4.

PS4 for me, if only to have it sooner.

Both. PS4 for one group of friends and PC for another.

PS4 most likely, I'm far too impatient for the PC release.

Most likely PC.
It is interesting to see the hype turn around since E3.
I was quite interested back then, for a chance to finally try a Monster Hunter game. But reception from people who played the series seemed very skeptical. 'Mainstreaming', 'watered down', 'not real MH' etc. Seems very different now.

I worry how solo friendly it will be though.

Where are you looking? Certainly not this forum or the dozens of articles and videos that have come out of Gamescom. My friend, the hype has only increased in the last couple days.

I have only seen that dismissive attitude from A) typical forum a-holes that decry any changes that stray from the original formula, or B) indignant handheld/Nintendo fans that are upset that the next main Monster Hunter isn't going to be on their portable system of choice. Everyone that has actually played the game has said it is Monster Hunter through and through.

As a diehard MH fan, I have seen maybe two changes that are a bit questionable and a multitude of changes that are fantastic for MH fans and newcomers alike. If you're seeing mostly negative reactions, find new sources, because they are wrong.

Also, Monster Hunter has always been solo friendly if you're up for a challenge.

Dyni I do believe you and Shadout are saying the same thing.

Yeah that is what I meant.
At E3 the reception seemed lukewarm - also here. Since then it seems to have improved a lot.

Which I am happy about. Was hyped from day 1. But only helps that people who know these games think it looks good too.

Switch!

Probably PC. Easier to get extended time there than on the TV. I doubt PS4 remote play will be feasible to really enjoy it.

It was never lukewarm for me. Started out red hot and getting hotter every day. *excite*

I don't have a PS4, so I have to wait for PC. I'm nowhere near as optimistic as you guys are though, I'm anticipating needing to wait at least 6 months. I figure that if the PC version wasn't quite a bit farther behind they would have waited for a simultaneous release.

I really hope I'm wrong, and that it's not a technical issue, but a temporary licensing exclusivity deal.

Ah, sorry. I missed that. I agree that the very first trailer they used to show the game garnered some skepticism. They showcased the game in a strange way. Everything they've shown since then has been received very positively.

My buddy and I are probably gonna give it a whirl on PS4.

If I get it it'll be PS4. I really want to get into the game.

The fact that I just paid far too much for a Razor PS4 pro controller makes we want to do PS4. However, I am both open to PC and because of friends may end up doing both.
