Guild Wars 2 Catch All

Curse you enablers, I finally picked up HoT. Thinking of boosting a Mesmer - are they in a good place in the WvW and PvE meta?

Don't know anything about the meta as such, but I can tell you a chronomancer is fun as hell.

Geeze. I tried to log in to download and I have a new computer. So it sent my email a verification except I stopped using the email on the account quite a bit ago.

Plus you can't submit a ticket without Logging In :((((

Actually, you can. They have a way somewhere on their support page to contact them. If you still have any of your game key's or information from your purchase e-mails that should work and they should be able to reset your account within a few hours to a day.

*Edit* Here ya go, choose Select submit your ticket anonymously.

*Second Edit* Your account name is karmajay.7596 which they will ask for.

I'm in the same boat. Tried to log in and it's got my old email from a previous cable provider for my account.

Wow, I'm sympathetic to your guys' plight, but I learned years ago not to tie my ISP email to anything important.

Choronomancer currently is often the tank in raids and also has a required place in raids as a group buffer.

Thanks, all - I'll be boosting her tonight!

But I've just to unlock a single elite in any profession.

Don't judge. I realize I'm not being very helpful.

No judgement on my end - I'm only halfway through unlocking dragonhunter and my ele is only in the mid 50s. What are your thoughts Eleima about the Weaver?

None, really. I haven't really looked at it, to tell the truth. :/

Finally got into Verdant Brink last night and holy gliders Batman the HoTs maps are confusing. I'm glad that the preview of Crystal Oasis made it look like they've at least learned their lesson for the new expansion.

Verdant Brink seems to me to be the *simple* HoTs map...

Oh I have no doubt but it was a weird change from "go to the green star to continue your story" to "go level your mastery and get back with us."

Can't recommend doing the zone trains you find in the LFG enough. I joined one with a newly boosted character and had my specialization learned and 25% complete by the end. I bet it's a great way to fast level a toon sas well.

Ok I was somehow able to get into my account. I forgot how cool my character looks.

Apparently I've been playing this game all wrong: I follow the story and explore the maps and help NPCs and hit bad guys until they fall down. I thought a fractal was a complex mathematical object and that cultural armor was found in the natural history museum.

I suppose that's why I didn't do well starting with a mesmer (23) and then an elementalist (25); too much piano-playing, despite all of the sexy, sexy outfits. I did better with a warrior (35), which is apparently the GW2 equivalent of eating paste, but at least she's fun to play.

(Feel free to judge, obv.)

Mine looked cool too, but it was from pvp armor which got shifted to my wardrobe. Which NOW cost a currency to equip so until i get to an end game state i can't waste the currency to 'look good' while playing.

I did a Silverwastes bandit chest run train for a couple of hours last night and got enough mats to finally craft a set of ascended armor for the first time ever... I have 10 level 80 chars.

Did you ever find someone to get you into ZoS?

the transmute charges show up as rewards somewhat often.

I wouldn't use them on every new piece of armour you get as your levelling, but you get enough that doing your whole wardrobe at 40 and 60 isn't a big deal.

Nice, I'll look for you online. I've been playing a bunch the last few weeks. Trying to finally get through HoT before the new expansion drops. For now, I'm main'ing my Ranger/Druid. Getting her for spec'd for condi with Vipers gear.

I'm not sure if these links have shown up in this thread before, but these can be handy tools to keep bookmarked:

http://gw2crafts.net/

if you want to get into raids, WvW or high level fractals, these sites can give you the min/maxing on various builds. I wouldn't pay too much attention to them if you are mainly focusing on open world PvE:

Thanks! I'm still trying to gather info on builds while trying to decide which class i'm going to go forward with. I leveled up a guardian at launch because that's what the group needed at the time but really isn't my bailiwick. I used the thief a lot for pvp/wvw and really like it a lot so started off with that when i came back, but also trying out the new shiney revenant.

Of course most the builds for them all these days require their specializations so trying to get up to that point before i dig in to get more gear.

The Daredevil elite spec for thief is a lot of fun and is in the current meta for raids/high level fractals. Engineer is probably my most played class and I love the utility and flexibility it provides, but I just don't like doing the story open world PvE with it. I'm excited to check out the new PoF Ranger, Engineer and Warrior elites. The Spellbreaker looks like it is setup to be the anti-thief spec for WvW/PvP. It has some traits that seem designed to stop a ganker thief from escaping.

Still have not seen or heard anyone from ZoS. Not sure what's eating up the emails. If anyone can point them to me, my main is Rytsun. Currently repping GWJ.

Robear a good time to reach out would be 5 pm eastern tomorrow right before guild missions.

I had an hour to tool around with the new specs and here are my thoughts:

1 Firebrand is fun with a cool book mechanic. Unfortunately some of the skills and mantras are a bit slow and I really don't like axe.

2 Weaver is amazing but super complicated. It feels a little less twitch which is good for me but it's all about strategic swapping of elements. Lots to learn.

3 My surprising new favorite is the Deadeye which feels like a SWTOR sniper. This might be the class I use my boost on.

4 Holosmith looks fun to play even if it's not my style. Engineers will be super happy.

5 Nothing else is grabbing me. I should be all over soulbeast but I'm not, and scourge feels meh.

Mirage was very lacklustre. I swapped my demo character to Chronomancer to compare the two directly in WvW roaming, and Chrono is just better. You're giving up alacrity, continuum split, 25% run speed, superfast clones and better clone generation. You get a dodge with reduced mobility, ambush skills that rarely hit a moving target, and the traditional shatter F1-F4 don't really synergise with the Mirage's ambush skills because clone generation isn't fast enough. Only the sceptre ambush ability seemed effective. I also prefer power to condition damage.

DeadEye did what it said on the tin, a ranged rifle assassin. It has damage, but the kneel mechanic seemed situational and being rooted in place is never great in PvP. I've played Daredevil in WvW roaming too, and preferred it. DeadEye felt a bit one-dimensional in comparison.

I wanted to love Renegade as thematically I think Charr are great and 6/7 of my lv 80 characters are Charr. But it seems totally unsuited to PvP which is mostly what I do in GW2. The summons are easily killed and the spec is lacking defensive skills and stunbreaks. I also couldn't really decide which legend to pair it with. Mallyx makes sense but you want Shiro for in combat mobility.

I can't say I enjoyed the PoF PvE map last weekend either, the raptor mounts is well animated, but the map just seemed to have been made bigger to make the mount worthwhile. I can't say they've sold me on this expansion so far.

Whose name should I reference in speaking to ZoS folks? I don't want to just appear on the channel with no references...

Yeah, now I can't get the email verification from TeamSpeak... Didn't see anyone in the lounge around 5pm Eastern... I'm going to try to sort this out and try again later this week. Frustrating.

Oh crud I'm sorry man - we're trying to sell our old house and I was making repairs yesterday. The next guild mission is tomorrow at 9 pm Eastern. I will see if I can be on to try and coordinate.

Not your problem, and I appreciate the help.

Solved my email problem and registered successfully! I'll post today in the Applicants thread.

And app is in. Thanks for the all the help folks.

How essential are running the dungeons as you level up? I just passed 30 so the first one opened up, but I'm not really into running stuff with PUGs unless I'm trying to farm something.
