Splatoon 1 & 2 & 3

I'd just like to say that I'm floored how good the motion controls are. In the beginning I was playing with just the thumbsticks and it was awful, couldn't hit a barn door. Tried motion controls with the joycons attached, not much better. Separated the joycons, upped sensitivity to 3.5 and bam, I'm consistently either winner or the second best in each game.

Okay I might have to try this. I have been doing just joysticks but felt like i just hit a skill ceiling in ranked where i couldn't be precise enough compared to others. I am trying motion controls with the pro controller but maybe I will try this weird separated joycons thing tonight.

I've enjoyed both. Prefer the pro, but separated joycon is good.

Attached joycon is not working for me as tilting the screen skews my aim too much.

So when people use separated joy cons, do you just not keep you right hand thumb on the stick? I find it really hard to hold the joy con and use the stick comfortably with the tip of my thumb on the top of the stick.

I'm right there with you. I can't use the joy cons separated. I'm surprisingly more comfortable with the awkward slide in controller than having them separate.

Splatuesday tonight!

Who's coming and what time?

Using the Twitch app -> Nintendo catch-all room?

I'll be on at 9 PM EST.

My only worry about sending out invites via the Switch app is I don't want it to get annoying to those who can't do it on Splatuesday.

I'll be in the Twitch chat room

Reading this, I'm kinda surprised you're not a fan of the Roller weapons. Because this is exactly the style of play I'm finding works best when I'm rolling.

But I'm completely fine with jumping into Splatoon 2 without any friends playing alongside and just going several rounds against strangers.

I think a lot of this is due to the fact that the maps are really straightforward compared to other online shooters. I can't speak for the ranked modes, but Turf Wars is really hard not to contribute to your team in some manner and I think that limits the need to be on voice coms. Even Salmon Run is pretty enjoyable with randoms now that people have figured out how to effectively use the "This Way!" button on the left D-Pad to signal where the nearest boss is.

jrralls, great playing with ya! 1v1 Splat Zones and Rainmaker are kinda weird but I'm glad I tried 'em. Salmon Run was great though.

I hope to play with more of the rest of you!

Sorry I didn't sign on tonight after all. Just ended up being tired and not wanting to deal with all the things and stimulation.

I'm on Pacific time so I'm not always free by 9pm EST but I'll definitely check in for Splatuesdays when I can.

The devs speed running level 6 :O

Can't wait to see this at GDQ!

I love the flip flops. Wanted them in game already, but they have the silly "do more damage to objects" skill.

If I was to try and play with people here on tuedays do I need to be ranked B to unlock leagues? Or do you all play private matches?

Are you on the switch app?

That thing was a lot of fun in singleplayer.

Yup I downloaded it haven't tried using for multiplayer though.

What I usually do is look on my friends list at 9 pm est, then invite everyone who is playing via the Switch app. If anyone else has a better way to organize it I'm welcome to sthe gyrations.

Team Flight all the way.

Team inviso-bill for life.

Awesome

I recall reading a study that suggested that most people say they want to be able to fly, but they really want to be invisible.

The conclusion of the study was that people are lying, nasty, thieving voyeurs who only avoid wrongdoing for fear of getting caught, so it seems pretty safe to assume it's true.

Logically, therefore, any vote at all is a vote for invisibility. You can't argue with science!

As someone who has felt invisible a lot of their life, and has a crippling fear of heights, the answer to "Which super power would you rather have?" is obviously Wolverine's Super Healing

Spoiler:

(and Adamantium claws, natch)

Flight would be a lot more valuable to me than invisibility. Plus, even if invisible, it's hard for a fat man to stay out of the way. A lot more collisions.

Is there anyway at all to turn off the daily update? I really just don't want to hear the two squid girls telling me what the new maps are for this day anymore.

Nope!

I started playing around with using the JoyCons separated from the shell and... I think I'm a convert now. Motion control feels a lot more natural that way although I'm not sure what I'm going to do when I'm playing in handheld mode

Anyways, "Classic Squiffer" is this weekend's new weapon.

I think there's some states in the game where you just get a simple popup announcing that rotation happened but you won't be shown the interstitial. I want to say if you're in single-player or in a lobby for multiplayer you only get the popup, but I'm not 100% sure.
