Reefer Pairing Menu

Or substitute reefer with your vice of choice. What games do y'all tend to enjoy under varying influences?

A few self-examples:

Skyrim: I like to get down to the nitty-gritty with my Alchemy and use various lists to get all of my ingredient effects listed. If all of that is already done, then I also tend to enjoy nature hikes while stealth-arching strangers.

The Wolf Among Us (and other Telltale Adventures): Never too strenuous in terms of gameplay. The chapter format makes the games easy to break up with consistent session length. Also, the neo-noir aspect (of TWOU at least) makes for an excellent smoking aesthetic.

Don't Die, Mr. Robot!: A fun little 1-stick arcade game that was on PS+ a month or so ago. Dodge enemies and eat fruit to dispose of enemies, see how long you can last. The game also comes with a "Zen Mode" that I've yet to try (as the base game is perfectly enjoyable on its own).

Rocket League: b/c mothaf*ckin' rocket cars. I play on Casual w/ no voice chat because I'm a monster who's come to have a good time.

Any recommendations on y'all's end?

I live in Washington, where the grass is green and the girls are pretty legally selling you weed in government sanctioned stores.

So the answer to which games I play while smoking is "all of them".

But the less trite answer is that I tend to avoid fast-paced twitch games and narrative games. Don't have the focus for a fast action game, and don't have the memory for a narrative one.

Grindy games are great for it. Disgaea 5 is currently making sure I stay up past my bedtime, but XCOM is another perennial favorite.

Denver checking in. Console games on the couch are just easier in general. Borderlands Pre Sequel, Destiny, and Horizon Zero Dawn have been my games lately.

Historically Rise of Nations is the game I can play even when I can't really walk. I wouldn't win a good PvP opponent but I can run through a "Conquer the World" campaign on Hard.

Hello police.

Rad, are you a cop? You have to tell us if you're a cop.

Suddenly jonman's driving makes much more sense.

What are y'all talking about, my swag puppers? I'm chill, I'm chill-*leans into lapel*-grapefruitgrapefruitgrapefruit.

Also, if we're talking about vino, I tend to steer towards bright, colorful, action-packed games that evoke some ancient Norse cry for battle from within my soul. A personal pick would be Kingdom Hearts II.

I'm laughing because honestly the most fun multiplayer I've had lately has been early Saturday morning runs in Guild Wars when I'm high on espresso. My life is so boring.

(I would like to partake in the "legal" Washington marijuana but as a govt employee I'm still bound by federal rules).

Says Mr Sports-bottle-o-gin.

Hey man, there's nothing boring about being blitzed on enough espresso to excite an elephant. CLEAR EYES, FULL HEARTS, SWEATY BROWS, JITTERY HANDS, CAN'T LOSE

There's lime juice in there too. I'm not a savage.

Note to self - sprinkle some lime zest into the pre-race joint for extra classiness.

Don't forget to stick your little finger out, like the Queen does when she's smoking.

Never before have your lungs been so scurvey-free

That'd be lemons.

Or do likes work as well?

Limes do work, just not as well as lemons as it's the vitamin C.

You'd actually be better off with bell peppers, but I'm not putting those in my gin.

Of course not, silly. You've got it backwards. You cut the top off the pepper and put your gin in that. It's nature's debauchery-bucket!

Doesn't broccoli have a lot of Vitamin C in it?

Throw some gin on that broccoli, put it in a mason jar, sell that shiz at a Whole Foods for $20.

Indicas mellow me out, so I prefer them for social interaction and multiplayer games. Sativas and hybrids tend to rattle my nerves a bit more, so I actually prefer them for solitary activities like puzzle games, strategy, or for when I've decided to hunker down and crank out more than a few hours of a particular game.

Strictly alcohol only when I'm gaming.

Actually, that's not quite correct. Always alcohol when I'm gaming.

Given that I only play on weekends, drinking-while-playing allows me to kill two leisure birds with one stone. That's the upside. The downsides are numerous:

- My performance in online multiplayer is visibly worse (even to me) by bottle of wine No. 2. So I always have to switch to something single-player after a couple of hours.
- I frequently come back to games and find myself surprised by the amount of progress I made in my last session. Sometimes, I've literally gone nowhere at all. Sometimes, I've blasted through several sections. I'm always worried, however, that I've done something stupid - like killed a crucial NPC - and painted myself in to a corner.

TL:DR? Wine can be paired with everything.

It's really helping with Elite Dangerous's longeurs. 15,000 LS slog to the next station? Set the throttle to cruising speed, and pour a large glass of the oakiest Chardonnay you can find.

I like busting open a nice red like a DOCG Chianti or Pinot Noir and then deeming the evening "Pirate Night". Goes well with something hack-n-slash-y or seaward, like Wind Waker or just the Port Royal levels of KH2.

HOT DAMN HOW DID I FORGET KATAMARI

We <3 Katamari is an instant classic for pairing with any vices.

I'll play pretty much anything, and when I smoked I would also play pretty much anything but because I was too damn high I always seemed to choose things that were absolutely not the right choice. Like deciding that right after smoking was the best time to try jumping into EVE Online for the first time.

EVE Online seems better paired with Wall St. vices, like snorting coke off a Twi'lek's lekku.

Don't smoke very often anymore I was so excited for No Man's Sky though I bought some and was pumped to play.

In the end it didn't live up to my expectations, so after a couple of hours of playing I booted up the other game I got DOOM and that was bloody amazing. Tht new Doom has some of the most incredible sound design not to mention how smooth the gameplay is. It's by far one I'd recommend trying after smoking.

I stick with the booze. Usually beer but I have been on a big gin kick lately. (My wife makes me gin and tonics. We live about three hours apart and so they remind me of her.)

I typically am on Fortnite or XCOM 2 at this point. Though XCOM can be disasterous at higher levels of intoxication.

There was a brief period in the UK where mushrooms slipped through a legal loophole and were widely available.

That period was shortly after the release of Rez.

It's good that they were legal, because using illegal drugs is degenerate behavior.
I for one would never stoop to such lows as the consumption of illegal drugs.

Drugs? No, no no no, we're talking about Scruggs. Y'know, Joe Scruggs, renowned and retired American family entertainer?

Anyways, ya ever rail a sh*tton of Scruggs and play SUPERHOT?
