Bears fans, here's the face of your franchise:

Is this how the world looks like after suffering multiple head traumas, because that's the only explanation I can think of where this link makes any sense.

Alright I know one of you is behind this...

Join date says March 2012. That's a long time to troll you without getting noticed by you.

Now we know what RatBoy was doing during that long absence.

Ew, ew, ew, ew, ew...

Looks like the 'days since watching the Bears' counter is gonna hit 500 this season. 1000 looks firmly possible.

I wish. That is pure comic hold.

In all fairness, I was sure for about a month my Browns were going to draft him.

If it makes you feel any better, the Bears seem dead set on taking the crown for front office incompotence.

That trade up from 3 to 2 may be one of the worst draft decisions I've ever seen. Doubly so since they wouldn't have been there were it not for the stupid comeback win against the Niners.

It's one thing to watch a team be bad, but with a front office you can see is making a smart and good faith effort to contend. I am a Cubs and Blackhawks fan after all. But a team that is bad, with a dumb front office?

If the Bears manage to crack mediocre before 2022...

Where it makes even less sense.

It's a Jon Bois fever dream, so this is par for the course.

FOLLOWED

Local sports radio is doing a throwback week, looking back on the 70's. Heard Terry Metcalf on today, who my very first favorite football player. Saw him play at my first live game.

Here is a clip of all the runs he didn't fumble on.

Interesting article today on Football Outsiders about Colin Kaepernick's inability to get a job.

Cian Fahey says Marcus Mariota is the best young quarterback in the NFL and one of the best QBs of any age in the entire league.

"Dak can’t match his precision into tight windows or his anticipation throws on intermediate routes. Winston can’t take care of the ball while creating opportunities for his receivers the way Mariota can. Wentz….Wentz shouldn’t even be mentioned in this conversation.

"Even the recently-minted Derek Carr doesn’t have a broad enough skill set or consistent enough track record to challenge Mariota as the best young quarterback in the NFL."

Discuss!

The secret will be out once they win some playoff games.

Edit: To add a little more nuance to my reply, I'm ALL IN with Marioto as my Dynasty QB. I wasn't before last season as I went and draft Jared Goff as a backup plan, which is working wonders so far. This year I'm all in on Marioto now that he has more than Walker to throw to. I drafted him in the 2nd round of the Dynasty draft knowing he'd be a boom/bust prospect and am so glad he's been booming so far despite playing for Mularkey. The fact they went and got a legit WR in the draft blows my mind.

He will never be the gunslinger Derek Carr is, but he executes. I'll take that because he does it so damn well.

Edit: Edit: I think it's pretty clear where all the love for Tajae Sharpe came from last preseason: Marioto's skill, not Sharpe's skill.

FO was incredibly high on Mariota when he came out, far more than Winston. I don't really have an issue with that assessment, and wanted Mariota far more at the time. Now, Winston, turnovers aside, has been great, and he and Mariota have clearly been 1A and 1B in some order or another. Winston's had better receivers, Mariota has had a notably better offensive line and running game. With the improved pass catchers both guys have this year, it'll be interesting to see how things turn out.

Derek Carr went to Fresno State, so is there really any chance he'll ever be good at anything?

I would still sign him for the veteran minimum and see if he can win the job on my beloved Browns.

Moving right along ...

... here's the best Carolina Panthers/Game of Thrones/random guy on a horse video mashup you'll see today:

link ... Twitter (which seems to work better)

Wofford, by the way, is the South Carolina college where the Panthers hold training camp.

Your move, everyone else in the NFL.

Jeez, I feel like the entire Internet's beating me over the head about Game of Thrones coming back this Sunday at 9 ET on HBO's east coast feed, along with HBO Go and HBO Now at the same time globally.

Well, this was unexpected: Panthers fire GM Dave Gettleman.

Darrin Gantt, the PFT writer, has covered Charlotte for years and his take (Gettleman pissed off too many Panthers veterans) is probably right, or close to the truth.

On the heels of a story I saw in theScore app saying the Ezekiel Elliot may be suspended for 1-2 games to start the season, now there is a story where he was apparently involved in a bar incident. This is not good. I love the kid's talent and what he brings to the team, but this is a pattern, and not one that I can get behind. Hopefully someone gets on his shit and he grows up quick, because this kind of stuff won't fly.

Edit: To be fair, this article (and others I have seen) characterize this as being a "late night incident". It happened at 9:40 pm. Further, all it says is that he was "involved" without giving any specifics. This may just be clickbait, but he has had several other missteps.

The timing of it is interesting; all the way into the summer and a few months after the draft? I guess it's kind of a dead time for his job role, but still a big surprise.

Dead time before the super important times known as TC, preseason and actual season.

Shit must've gone down.

"Kurt, Kurt, Kurt, Kurt, Kurt, Kurt." It's like he's Mr. Burns and Cousins is Homer.

That whole situation is a joke. The team has screwed up the process over the last two years.

Kirk will be gone in 2018 and they will suffer for it.
