The Secret World

I have not verified it works. Is the original still a subscription game? I.E. do you have to subscribe to play or is the subscription optional?

I can confirm this method works.

Ok, I have a very stupid question. I've reinstalled TSW and it seems I am playing the same game. Nothing has changed. Am I missing something here? The skill wheel is still in place, I see no major changes, what's going on? Am I still playing the Ultimate Edition? If so, how do I access Legends? Steam says legends is in my library, but when I log on it accesses the original version it seems.

Not sure about Steam but there's a separate install for Legends.

The Steam version has been rebranded as Secret World Legends but still links to the old client. I imagine they'll update it or create a separate listing at some point. I'm surprised they haven't already, it seems extremely negligent.

Yeah I checked. It's not coming to Steam until July. So I had to download a separate client and transfer my stuff. It's funny because I was just getting familiar again with the original gameplay style. Downloading legends now.

Did they remove the faction missions? I'm almost to the end of Blue Mountain and haven't seen any yet, I feel like I had at least one if not more by now in TSW.

I did the transfer a few days ago but as of last night I still do not have any pets, clothes or weapon page unlocks. I have a GM TSW account

Also, it sounds like if you did't actually retrieve stuff you bought in TSW (i.e. still in items to retrieve dialog) then those do not transfer. I know for at least the last year I was logging into the store page on the web to spend my GM tokens before they maxed out and all of that would have been waiting for me to retrieve so I lose out of those?

You have to go into the user menu in game to claim the transferred items.

Spent way too much time last night getting the floor is lava achievement for Kingsmouth. Reminds me a lot of the jumping puzzles in guild wars 2, in that you're fighting the mechanics as much as finding a path. The jump mechanics in TSW were never great, and SWL hasn't improved them.
Still, quite the fun diversion.

The hit boxes for that achievement are all kinds of messed up too. Almost every time I failed it and had to start over it was because I had moved fractionally too close to an edge and the game decided I was on the ground when I clearly wasn't. Took me over half an hour but I finished that achievement out of spite.

Man I wanted to like this game I really did, and it's good, but it's just not great. There's too many games out there and this takes up too much space on my hard drive and time to justify it.

I know I'm going to come back to Secret World yet again, but there's too many games out or coming out that I am much more interested in. I would have loved if this was just a straight on RPG or even a game like XCOM where you send out teams to complete missions.

Fully agree.

I agree. It's a great single-player RPG trapped in an MMO.

Arise thread!

I began playing this game this past weekend, and am really enjoying it. Still on the first island in New England but having a blast. Anyone else still playing?

I just uninstalled it yesterday

It is a fun game.

I played for a bit after it went free to play earlier this year. Still a good game, starting to show it's age a little though.

Feh, age, still play Lord of the Rings Online regularly. They don't bother me.

I literally just spent the last two days updating LOTRO.
As for TSW, I still pop on occasionally, but while I love it, I'm having some issues with graphics card drivers, I think. Game sometimes plays more like a powerpoint presentation.

I need to check to see of TSW runs on macOS. I'm going to guess no. I've mostly abdicated my PC to my son so I'm on PS4/Mac gaming now.

See above for me.

Maybe I’ll try it in virtualization. What could go wrong?
