Marvel Heroes - Catch All

They have kinda been that way from the get go. The game 100% leverages the brand rather than contributing to it or improving it.

The anniversary event has started. There's a flat 150% XP boost, plus the cosmic prestige bonus from cosmic chaos. Also an easy-to-get Cosmo pet.

FF characters and related costumes getting pulled from the game store (my bad, thanks for pointing it out) immediately

Pulled from the store, not from the game. You won't be able to buy the affected heroes/costumes, but if you already had them on your account you can still use them.

Weird the costumes are stopping today but the heroes are still for sale until July 1.

I did kind of like that Spidey costume but then again I already have like 6 Spidey costumes.

Finished my F4 group when I finally got Sue last summer. Had the others from random drops for a while.

This is also the first anniversary month I haven't really played. The last 3 June's have been huge for me leveling characters with boosted XP and getting cakes.

This year looks like some great rewards in cakes and other stuff with slices. I did login and buy that team up and pet with slices. But I'm just not feeling like playing right now.

Maybe one last Midtown Madness on the 3rd since I'm off work? Or does it end before then?

I need Sue Storm and Reed Richards....I have 1k+ eternity splinters thanks to the birthday celebration....hmm its either buy those 2 if I have enough or use all 1k to get 5 Ultimate power upgrade tokens for Angela.....

I had the F4, but I didn't have Silver Surfer yet, so I picked him up last night.
Heroes being buyable with eternity splinters is what's supposed to be done today. Costumes and heroes should remain buyable with Gs or $ until the 1st. I guess the different dates is due to the eternity splinter "store"requires a game patch to update, but their availability in the G store or direct purchases is external to the game and can be turned off whenever.
Edit - Based on what Gaz is saying about how they will continue to support the F4 characters, I'm guessing they're hoping Marvel will get their head out of their ass, stop being so vindictive about not having the F4 movie rights, and let them start selling the characters/costumes somewhere down the line.

Anniversary event ends today with the patch. When they come up it'll start the Spiderman Homecoming event.

I'd get Sue and Reed. Angela's not going anywhere and 5 ult upgrades isn't going to make that big a difference.

Although now I need to double check as I don't think I have silver surfer either....bugger.

5pm is a really awkward time with 24 hours notice. Jeez.

Also this is going to make those team of F4 achievements much harder. Been meaning to try those someday.

Lots of people were using the 1000 ES you could get from the anniversary event to buy whoever they didn't have yet, so I imagine the next few weeks would be a good time to try for them. Nothing makes people want something like telling them they can't have it.
It's suspected that Marvel's behind the short notice. The official thread announcing it was deleted shortly after it went up, supposedly because Marvel didn't want to Gaz to mention it at all.

Disney owns Marvel, Disney hates that anyone else has rights to their stuff therefore Disney is killing off FF....

I don't think it's really coming from Disney. The rumor is that the erasing of FF from the Marvel brand is coming from Isaac Perlmutter, who was CEO before Disney bought them, and remained CEO. He doesn't want to do anything that can be seen as promoting Fox's use of X-Men and the Fantastic Four, but the X-Men are too popular to ignore completely, so the Fantastic Four take the brunt of it.

Well that and Fox keeps falling on its face with FF lately. The only reason they have kept the rights so far is they keep making movies. If people would stop enabling them, they would hopefully see how futile it is to keep making FF movies and it would revert back. I am not holding my breath for that to happen. Fox enjoys beating dead horses if there is even an inkling of making money.

I think Fox's plan is to keep making FF movies regardless of how well they do until Marvel offers them a sweet enough deal. Fox absolutely won't let it revert due to not being used or let it go cheaply because they know Marvel really wants the FF license back. Doom, Galactus, and the Skrulls are all part of it.

There aren't even any FF comics at this point. It's kind of sad really considering they kicked off the whole Marvel universe pretty much.

It looked like they were going to do the same w/ X-Men, going so far as to make the mist that creates Inhumans kill Mutants. Thankfully they've backed off and we have a whole line of X-books that just kicked off following the resolution of the whole Inhumans vs X-men thing.

X-men merchandise and licensing likely brings in tons more $ than FF did.

A new update on how Omega items work. The console patch is out now, but the PC patch got pushed back to "before Thanksgiving." In addition to the Omega items, it also has some new Age of Apocalypse content.

The silver lining is that it'll give people on PC time to get ready for the costume closet. When the Omega patch comes to the PC, your inventory, equipped items, and stash contents will be scanned upon your first login, and any costumes you have will be unlocked in the closet. All the default costumes will be unlocked even without having the costume item in your inventory. For every 3 duplicates you'll get a random locked costume for that hero unlocked. Any remainder of duplicates will get 1 random unlock as well. So if you have 5 copies of the default costume for a hero, you'll get the default and two non-duplicate random costumes for that hero (1 copy unlocked the default, 3 for one random, and the remaining 1 for the second random). Taking a hero from white to yellow prestige will give you a total of 7 default costumes, which would also translate into getting the default and 2 randoms, so you don't have to prestige all the way to cosmic to maximize how many costumes you'll get. If you've already taken off the default costume and blendered it away, you'll still have the default unlock. Simply putting the default in your inventory and having none equipped (which still shows the default costume) won't cause the default in your inventory to count as a duplicate. Given that the costumes the scan will give are guaranteed to be for the same hero and not to be costumes you've already got, it's a good idea to hold on to them instead of using the blender now. The blender recipe is going to be going away with the patch, and there'll be an as yet unspecified alternate way to deal with getting a duplicate costume (from cards or random boxes).

AoA content??
Crap, I may have to reinstall.

And it's dead

We regret to inform our Marvel Heroes fans that we have ended our relationship with Gazillion Entertainment, and that the Marvel Heroes games will be shut down. We would like to sincerely thank the players who joined the Marvel Heroes community, and will provide any further updates as they become available.

Hope they try this idea again, but with a different dev house.

It's likely a combination of multiple rumors that the new(-ish) CEO has sexually harassed female employees and Marvel's continued cut-off-our-nose-to-spite-our-face attitude towards characters from the Fox franchises. I'd bet whatever internal investigation they did confirmed the rumors, and severing ties with the whole company instead of going through the process of replacing him aligned with their plan to have anything Marvel related be done as in-house as possible.

Sucks though, I had just under 1400 hours in it and still found it to be a blast to play.

Ugh, not even a hint of maintenance mode. Not that I've played much recently, but with an embarrassing number of hours and two cosmic 60s i reserve the right to be at least a little ticked off.

Damn

I never did get every hero to 60. Was always lagging a few behind.

And of course you can still spend money on the game.
To bad overall, as it was fun.

Gaz hasn't made any official statement yet.

We’re sad to inform our players and our entire Marvel Heroes family that Marvel Heroes Omega will be shutting down. The Marvel Heroes servers will stay on until Dec 31, 2017, and we’ll be removing real money purchases as soon as possible. Players will be able to play the game entirely for free once this sunset period commences. We will share the exact date things go completely free as soon as we can.

We’ve had the privilege of entertaining and collaborating with our players for over four years. We’re extremely humbled by that privilege and wanted to get this message out: Thank you. Thank you to our players, our tireless employees, and everyone involved in the life of Marvel Heroes, Marvel Heroes 2015, Marvel Heroes 2016, and Marvel Heroes Omega.

I just poked in and it looks like the G store is turned off, but no other notice or change within the game.

I'm really going to miss this game. It is an ARPG classic, and I always came back to it every few months to fool around with a new hero. I wonder where the designers will land...?

Nice we have a few weeks to play then. Might spend a day or two finishing off some heroes
