Name that GAME Thread

Finally a game I recognize... Archon.

One of my favorites from back then.

Well no one commented but I realized that that is actually Archon 2, Adept isn't it?

Here's mine.

Put it green screen since that's all I had back then.

Green & black, I'm having flashbacks. That's got to be an Apple II screen.
Hmm, what is this?

Yep, that's Adept. Archon 1 was much more like chess -- 2 had that different board, and instead of having a standard set of pieces, you got to choose what you wanted and build your army of monsters.

Another picture.. this one in color. Pretty big clue in this one.

I had to do some digging (I wasn't around for this game, haha), but is it Captain Goodnight and the Islands of Fear?

Ding.. it is Captain Goodnight indeed.

I remember really enjoying this game. I also remember it had some sort of "decoder ring" system that kicked in after the first mission or two where you had to enter some sort of word or number. This was their attempt to prevent piracy. If you put it in wrong the game would just quit out.

Yes, it is. Some of the same monsters as Archon, only they broke away from the chess-like aspect of the first game into something new.

Nice! Ok, here's one.

That must be an emulated version because it definitely, definitely wasn't that crisp back in the day.

Superman 64!

... I have no idea.

You're on the right track.

I cheated, so I'm not going to answer.

Ha, not quite! Right system, though.

Body Harvest.

Yes! Sleeper hit on the 64 made by a bunch of people who later went on to release a tiny game called Grand Theft Auto.

Wow, didn't realize that, though Wikipedia is telling me they actually made the original GTA the year before Body Harvest. Crazy.

Huh. It has the style of a D&D gold box game, but the graphics are sharper. I wonder if it's a knock off, or if it's a Gold Box game I've never heard of.

You're on the right track, it is a D&D game.

You sure it's not Shovel Knight? That knight sure does look like Shovel Knight!

Oh! Huh. Interesting. Guess Body Harvest had a bit of troubled development. I do remember seeing screenshots of it in Nintendo Power a long time before it was eventually released.

LOL, he kinda does doesn't he but he isn't.

I don't want to kill this thread so one more hint and if no one gets it I'll try a different game.

It was a D&D game on a console you might not have expected to have a D&D game.

Okay yeah...I have no idea then.

All right, I had to google the terms "D&D" and every console I could think of, and I think I found it:

D&D: Order of the Griffin on the TG16

Never heard of that one, but they must have reused some of the character portraits in other games, Bandar and Larissa look very familiar.

I hope this one isn't too obscure:

You got it!

Alz, that looks almost like Rampage, but different. Also Rampage isn't too obscure I guess!

Graphics look like an NES game. I wanna say Superman?
