Star Wars Rebels Catch-All

"wow" count for the end of S3 is high.

Glad it was two parts. Whew.

Great stuff. Loved the end mention of

Spoiler:

Yavin

I really enjoyed the last 3 episodes.

Spoiler:

The Bendu godstorm/death/vanish thing was a bit out of place I thought, but all in all the episodes were good Star Wars

Don't disagree about the Bendu comment. But I am a sucker for a little Doctor Who in my Star Wars.

Silly double post, here have a picture of an Interdictor going boom.

Great season ending!

Space battles rule, but why do ships in Star Wars always fly straight toward Star Destroyers when they're trying to escape?

I think that is just a weird convention that the OT has set forth and they are following it. Even though space is endless, hyperspace lanes that don't take you through physical objects seem not to be so blockades always cover those routes.

Star Wars convention seems to limit the amount of off ecliptic space flight. I guess it keeps things easier to manage on screen.

If you want 3d space battles try a different series.

Star Trek did that exactly twice in my memory.

I'm sure it serves the action on screen as well.

I remember playing X-Wing back in the day. I always turned off debris because it didn't make sense, but it did help give you sense of motion in space. I'd sit there and think, "huh it takes a really long time to fly out to those ships over there." It wasn't boring per se, but it was certainly different than the movies.

Now that I think about it, that's probably what I loved about those games: they were able to make flying an X-Wing feel "real" in the context of that universe.

Elite Dangerous does a good job of explaining that actually and the Interdictor seems to reinforce that. Hyperspace(or frameshifting in that game) is affected by gravity, if you're close to a planet you can't really jump away until you're out of the pull of gravity and no longer 'mass locked'(another term in that game). My guess is that's why they don't just turn tail and run, they'd have to fly around the planet and I imagine the star destroyers and fighters could wipe them out before they get clear enough to charge their hyperspace drives. It's riskier to fly straight at them but the also have a better chance as dodging fire and getting away.

There's probably been examples of that not being the case but that's certainly what I think about everytime I watch a big space battle.

I hear that I War had realistic space combat.

Yeah the rules have been bent a bit in TFA and Rogue One so it mainly depends on the story at this point.

The "he" is Kenobi. The "she" is Ahsoka Tano.

Is Darth Vader's castle on Mustafar or Sullust? Thanks to the bluray, now we know.

I'm pretty sure the "her" is Princess Leia.

Totally. That's just a cut scene that sets up ANH.

Oh yeah. That's right. I forgot about that final scene, which confirms that it's Leah.

On a related note: File this under mass hallucination? I saw R1 twice in the theater. The first time I thought I might have seen Chopper during a scene on Yavin 4. The second time, I was sure that I saw Chopper during the same scene. Right down to the dish antenna on top of his head. My son confirmed the sighting. (To put things in perspective he's 12 y.o.)

When we watched the movie earlier today, we didn't see Chopper at all. Instead we saw an R2 Astromech droid with a red dome. Funny how the brain works...

If you didn't catch it or if it hasn't been mentioned they do call Hera over the comms on Yavin.

Thank you. Yes. And they're paging General Sindula, not captain. (Implying a promotion.) But even then, the audio is a bit muddled.

I just hope that the crew of the Ghost didn't die in the battle at the end of R1. That would break my heart.

I kinda think they will die. What future do they have? The OT does not have them in there and Ashoka is probably more popular and was not tied into Rogue 1 even as a reference or mention like Chopper and Hera were. The jedi at least are going to die or go into exile. Hera and the rest of the crew might make it though.

I expect terrible things in store for Kanan, Ezra, and the Mandelorians. Maybe if the story led Kanan to renounce the Force altogether he might've had a future but I don't see that happening.

IMO, just because something is not mentioned in the OT does not mean it does not exist.

Yeah midochlorians are real.

So I've considered watching Star Wars Clone Wars. First question, should I?

And then should I watch Star Wars Rebels?

I have spent the last couple years watching through all the old Star Trek series, TOS, TNG, DS9, and now on Voyager maybe thinking I could take a Trek break and watch some Star Wars stuff.
