DC Catch-All [Spoiler Zone]

Ben Affleck says he will fulfill the terms of his acting contract but that he's lost any passion for the project in the wake of Warner Bros.'s panicked recalibration of their universe.

Eh...Gone Baby Gone was good, but nothing else he's done convinces me this is a huge loss.

I realize this sounds like I think it will be fine. I do not. I think this movie is doomed either way.

Ben Affleck: You're like a child. What've I been telling you? You gotta do the safe picture. Then you can do the art picture. But then sometimes you gotta do the payback picture because your friend says you owe him.

[They both take a beat and look at the camera]

Ben Affleck: And sometimes, you go back to the well.

Matt Damon: And sometimes, you play Reindeer Games.

Ben Affleck: See, that's just mean.

I read this news as Affleck not getting what he wanted from the studio so he stepped back so they can get a yes-man in there.

Between this and The Flash news, things don't seem to be going too well over there.

So, Powerless aired. That was... a thing that happened.

It's got potential, but that's about all I'd say for it so far. It seems to be going the usual DC route of being entirely separate from every other DC television or movie universes, which is fine but lead to a cluttered first episode, I think.

Powerless sounds interesting. I'm going to wait until a few episodes have aired so I can watch a few at once, but the cast is good so I'm hopeful.

Matt Reeves reportedly to direct The Batman. I'm guessing from the picture behind him he directed one of the current Planet of the Apes movies.

The last 2 Apes movies, Cloverfield and Let Me In.
He's a great get, if confirmed.

I guess this is the best place for this...

Just watched The Lego Batman Movie with the family.

So good. The referential nods are off the charts!

Spoiler:

"Iron Man sucks!"

Couldn't agree more.

We saw Lego Batman last night and it was wonderful.

I think it might be my favorite Batman movie, not because it was funny (which it was) but because Batman actually had some personal growth. In all the other movies Batman is basically the same at the end of the movie as he was at the beginning. He might have doubts during the movie but at the end he is back to being "batman." In the Lego movie he changes. He admits he was wrong and he lets people into his personal sphere.

Even Batman Begins?

It has been awhile but in batman begins I think he just fully embraced being a vigilante loner...

Also been a while from me, but I think in the beginning he's just roaming through the world and getting into fights, not caring about his home and friends.

I thought Lego: Batman was alright. It was somewhat enjoyable. 5.5/10 in my book.

And he's in again.
He's a good pick. I hope he has a good script, though.

Aquaman test footage shows off incredible underwater effects and a possible first-look at Ocean Master

It’s only a 5-second clip but it’s enough to whet (or should that be wet?) the appetite. The detail put into such a short clip really is staggering: just seeing Aquaman’s hair rise and fall in the water is enough to make you cry when thinking about all the man-hours that’s probably gone into getting Jason Momoa’s hair to float just right.

That’s not even taking into account the fact that there’s a seated figure that Aquaman comes face-to-face with. It’s not a stretch to suggest that it’s Patrick Wilson’s Ocean Master – the villain of the piece – waiting for Aquaman.

It’d be difficult to do a deep-dive into what exactly this means for the movie going forward in regards to just how many underwater scenes there will be (imagine a submerged superhero scrap!) but, hey, it’s nice of Zack Snyder to give us a gift on his birthday.

Protip: if you drop your weapon, don't try to catch it by the pointy/sharp end.

So now we're up to two people who look like they're having fun in these movies?

On camera though? Aquaman looks joyless from the little we've seen of him.

I don't understand why the Red Power Ranger is in a Justice League movie, though.

Synergy! Cross marketing potential!

Yeah, that Flash "armor" is totes reedic!

Also, that Spiderman pose is not working for anyone that isn't Spiderman. But it looks particularly goofy on the Flash.

Wonder Woman trailer.

Snyderesque colour palette aside this looks dope as hell.

[I hit edit, it posted twice!]

It's funny, I thought it was good. Then the electric guitar riff came in at the end. I mean, I get that was her theme in BvS, but you couldn't rework it a bit to make it more time appropriate?

Otherwise a solid trailer.

I'm with you. It was the best thing about BvS, but shoving it in hamfistedly at the end doesn't really help the trailer.
