Conan Exiles - Crush Your Enemies, See them driven before you!

Hmmm, yeah the one thing I think is missing at my base is a large chest that was placed on some terrain that stuck up high enough that I couldn't put foundations down. Luckily it was just a dump chest, though I think someone might have had some gear in it.

I thought I saw Funcom say something that it was only happening on some official servers, something to do with the way the new patch was transmitted to the provider. i don't think the private servers were affected.

now that i look again, that may have been a different issue.

thankfully i built everything on foundations

GWJ server was definitely affected. I lost an armourer's bench and the cooking fire to the issue.

Speaking of which, I've noticed a few people on Steam boards brag that they have their wells on foundations. While building my well, for the life of me i could not figure out how to place it on a foundation (could have been a height thing). Does anybody have any advice on how to do this?

I've yet to build a well although i need to for my 3rd location.

From what i've seen everything can be built on a foundation big or high enough.

i had trouble with that too, i ended up just building a statue of refreshment instead, plus it ended up being cheaper.

I lost a wheel of pain to the bug and have since rebuilt on a foundation.

When you say foundations did that also include ceiling tiles if you built a multi level house?

Malkroth wrote:

That was my worry, but i think if it's centered by a foundation you're good. At my new spot i had to use ceiling tiles and triangles to finish the bottom structure about 1/4 of my base that was an overhang from a ledge. I was worried that would have fallen down, but it all stayed together

The house I am building is only supported by foundations on both sides and a few in the middle. Most of the support is through pillars directly into the ground. The only thing I lost was my campfire. So I think as long as there is a foundation in the mix it is ok.

Can someone explain to me the difference in using T1 or T2 building materials? Why would I ever want to use mats above T1 (short of being in a hardcore raiding PvP guild, and even then all it takes is a single avatar to demolish months of grinding in 30 seconds). On the GWJ server, is it ever necessary (other than for looks) to build T2?

no reason other than looks. it's all for PvP.

although some animals can now destroy T1, so i guess if you angered an elephant or a rhino and he followed you home you couldn't just hide inside.

The GWJ server is a PvP server so at some point we might make some bases for purpose of doing PvP. At that point it might matter. Also, the T2 and T3 buildings do look different.

Today i stumbled upon a red dragon, the rhino king, and the two ghosts that are doing...something. Of course, I'm still having issues with interaction through the e key

were they in the city in the middle of the map? there are the 3 guys that ran the city that the story stone things talk about. the archivist, the priestking, and something else. i know i've seen one at least one of them before thats a ghost you can talk to.

i think there are some other ghosts that you can see if you wear the Yog mask that don't do anything yet also.

No, if you head all the way to the west along the rivers end there's a large dafari camp, get through that and there's a building in the back that has two stones you can garner story from and two ghosts in the middle that were acting, uh, something out.

There's an interesting article on Kotaku - quoting an original article on Endgadget -about the process by which Conan was developed.

An interesting peak at the man behind the Funcom curtain. What I took from it was the perceived lack of quality of the survival game genre.

I would like to join also if there is a server?

server is called GWJ

i'll DM password

Can you throw it to me too - just picked it up.

I didn't know we had a GWJ server, please DM me the pw as well.

I'm running into an issue on our server. When it loads my character, everything freezes. Is it possible to delete my character server-side? It runs fine on single and I'll test it on other multiplayer servers later today.

That's actually kinda normal. It'll freeze for a minute or two loading in and then it will clear up. I think it's trying to render everything that's been built during that time.

For the record, if anybody is adventurous and wants to travel around the map, I have a base built up in the far north-west corner of the map. North of the treasure hunter's town. A few pixels north of the northern edge of the in-game map. The best way to get there is to start from the oasis where the Mitra shrine is (someone from GWJ built a hut there). Then travel NW until you cross the ridge/wall and enter the salt flats. You can slink along the northern edge of the salt flats fairly unmolested. Then when you enter the savanna region, my settlement should be soon visible climbing along one of the tall rock outcroppings.

I'm currently level 29, so I still do not have steel yet. But there should be plenty of iron/leather for anybody that needs it. I also only have the starting wheel of pain, so I can only break one thrall at the time. That will be my next target. Once my thrall production is up and running, I will be making regular raids into the treasure hunter city.

--Edit--
For the new people, if you are ready to start moving north and want to get a leg up on iron production, but don't want to mess with people's existing constructions, I have a set of old crafting benches/furnaces along the southern wall at N9 in this map. I'm hoping anybody can access and use them.

That's good to know. It was up to a couple of minutes for me, but I'd always kill the process at that point. I'll try again this evening.

People need to join the GWJ clan and then buildings and utilities can be shared. I just made it to Shoal's spot to invite but had to log off. Anyone in the clan can invite others.

Once in you can use our old places and beds as jumping points to new areas. My first area is located at Q12 just on the south side of the oasis. There's 3 of us around the river located at Q7. My new area (V6) is near the pirate ship with another GWJ group i suspect it's AnimeJ and his crew. So i could gather high level thralls much easier.

Yeah, we've got a base with two of most every crafting station and two of the medium wheels of pain there by the pirate ship.

Right across the river from you guys.

I also have a base up that way, right next to one of the northern entrances to that city. my base is directly west of that mitra shrine, built up some steps on the black stone ruins.

I have a tier 2 wheel of pain, so anyone thrall hunting up there in the city feel free to throw one on my wheel.

in fact if you want to build anything i have a larger empty walled off area, please feel free to use that. there is a huge amount of iron that spawns just outside my base, building near will just despawn it all.

When you misjudge distances by that || much...
