GWJ bugs, feature requests, and updates

Thanks for your patience on the email issue. It's top of the list, and I'm going to be digging into sometime this week.

Subject: Podcast Feed
Problem: podcatcher on android isn't showing the image for the ConferenceCall rss, but it does for the Jobscast.

Potential cause: From looking at the RSS of the 2, the podcatcher might not be handling the image http->https redirect from the hardcoded http image link in the ConferenceCall rss.

IE: The Jobscast image link is https. The ConferenceCall image link is http, but redirects to https.

ConferenceCall:

Hi,
I am being warned that this is a dangerous website for some reason and its getting blocked when I try to enter the topic "what are you playing this weekend". Anyone else seeing this?

Weirdly, its now safe again.

I have also been having trouble with my GWJ rss for a while. I'm using an old blackberry as my podcast player and I used this url for the rss: http://www.gamerswithjobs.com/taxono...

Is there a newer rss or alternate? I keep getting messages about an untrusted security certificate from cloudfare, and when I ignore the message and download the conference call it usually crashes or freezes my podcast app.

Seem to have lost the Like button and count for all posts.

Still happening. This is on a version of Firefox.

I believe this issue should now be resolved. Thanks for identifying it so thoroughly!

I'm not seeing this issue in Firefox. Can you reply back with version of the browser you're running?

I see it ok on Firefox on both OSX and Windows, v50.

When he first reported it, I wasn't seeing the Like button either, but now I am. Running Chromium here.

Even though I've read all the posts in my favorites, the red star at the top right suddenly stopped greying out to show that everything has been read. Then I tried the "mark all red" option for ALL posts, but that doesn't seem to be working either. I cleared my cache and relogged into the site, but it's still happening. It just started happening within the last hour and seemed to be working fine earlier.

Yes, all is well. Thank you!!

For those of you tracking the issue, can you report back on whether you're receiving email notifications again? I made some changes a week ago that should have now propagated, with enough time for notifications to go out again. If working properly, Gmail should no longer mark the message as spam.

This is a tough one to test independently, but I can confirm I am receiving notifications myself.

I finally got my "unread" star to grey out by going through and clicking on *everything* in my favorites (8 pages) even though nothing was displaying "new" for any posts.

Anyway, I literally just joined the site. I wanted to report that I'm having a weird issue with the RSS feed only loading 10 podcasts, and when I try to look at the GWJ subscription specifically, it force restarts my app. I'm using Podcast Addict. I've tried other catchers, but they still only load the last 10 episodes. They don't crash though. I'm way behind, and having to track down episodes manually is a real buzzkill.

Now that that's out of the way... as I said I just joined...

I'm not on forums enough to know how to quote correctly. Sorry if it's weird.

Anyway, the gmail thing is still a thing. I couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting the email. So I had to search up this issue, just so I could post about my other issue. It was fun... not really. No worries though.

Welcome to the site, NeoRichardBlake! The desire for a full feed of the podcast is one I have noted in our issue backlog. It's a challenging one to address, as generating a feed of 10 years of podcasts is an expensive process on the server side. I'll revisit the issue, though, and see if there's anything that may help.

You did it right!

Well, 10 years might be a bit much... 6 months would be nice though. Something around 25-30 episodes.

Maybe a bunch of different RSS files with one for each year? You would only have to generate each one once and then only have to make a new one each year.

I know some business protection software will sometimes flag sites when you aren't using IE.

Want: ability to @ someone in a post and they get a notification like www.rpf.com

If you still need a test, send me a PM and I'll let you know if I get an e-mail. I was definitely not getting them before.

If you want a sample with a non-Gmail receiver, try PMing me as well; I run my own server, and can look to see exactly what the logs say.

I received a PM yesterday, I was giving out a key for a game from humble bundle.

Someone sent me a PM, and got no email about it.

My forum email isn't a gmail one.

Got your PM, but no e-mail notification.

For the last year or so the forum index page has stopped saying if the MMO forum has any new posts. Did I toggle something oh so many moons ago that's causing this?

Mine shows that also, Staked. There are def new posts in there though.

Any thoughts on adding a board games subforum?

I'd support that. It'd be very useful to have all those threads in one place, rather than just following the big board gaming thread, and hoping to notice any other threads that pop up elsewhere.

FYI, Google Site Search is being discontinued by the end of this year. It looks like this site uses it, so I wanted to let y'all know so you could find a replacement.
