Firefly - Love it!

Killjoys, you say. Got it. Thanks for the suggestion.

+1 vote for Killjoys as a worthy Firefly-esque contender. Deep world, funny, with interesting characters. All episodes are available on Syfy.com...

We already have a Firefly reboot. It's called Killjoys. Added bonus, no Adam Baldwin or Summer Glau. Downside, no Gina Torres or Jewel Staite.

Spoiler:

I'm only partly trolling.

I pretty much agree. Great show, very Fireflyesque.

I'm rather fond of Dark Matter myself.

You would be..... you would be.

I know about Baldwin, but what's wrong with Glau?

Oh, and on a Firefly reboot... it's not happening, at least not with the same actors. They're not all young and beautiful anymore, and it wouldn't make sense for them to still be tooling around as highly eligible bachelors and/or bachelorettes, constantly broke and struggling.

It was a GREAT show, but a sequel would need a new cast. It seems unlikely to me that lightning would strike twice.

They could still have the old actors in "emeritus" positions, but they'd be settled and/or prosperous by now.

edit: remember, folks, Firefly was fifteen years ago.

That's why animated has always made the most sense.

Yeah, that could work, and they could easily use the same actors.

Hell, Tudyk could probably cover about half the world NPCs all by himself. Of course, Serenity put a bit of a spike through that idea.

Too soon.

Wow, I typoed that like crazy. Fixed it.

Oh, yeah that wasn't expressed well. Baldwin is a suppurating sack of mutated weasel crap passing as a human being, I just don't like Glau's acting. Wasn't fair to put them on the same level.

I also really like Dark Matter, but the Firefly parallels are stronger with Killjoys so it was the first thing I thought of.

Unfortunately that is why he is perfect as the unedpendable expendable we all love to hate... The man they call "me"

The only thing I didn't like about Killjoys was the 'its another show full of pretty young cool people doing all the cool things'. A few of the characters did almost redeem that flaw. And the corps and the dragon lady character came across a little too 'evil for evil's sake because that's how the script writers made us'.

Looking forward to season two. By comparison, I couldn't make it through the first half of Dark Matter.

Yeah it is full of improbably pretty people doing impossibly cool stuff, but they do still explore the characters well.

Season 2 does do some work to add depth to the evil villains too. The Corps stay evil capitalist, but that's pretty true to life anyway so I can't complain much. Dragon Lady and the families develop some nuance.

One thing I love about Firefly, and Killjoys did it as well, was having everything take place in one solar system. S02 does have one jaunt to another star which bummed me out a bit. They are two series that always implied that interstellar travel is a big deal. It still seems rare in Killjoys being beyond most people's resources.

New posts to this thread are such a roller coaster of emotion...I should just stop clicking.

Can't believe it's been fifteen years already.

f*ck, that was a good show, and it felt modern way before everyone else caught up. It looks like it could be on Netflix right now.

sh*t, it was on Netflix about a year ago. I was pissed when it left.

How in this day and age have we not resurrected this yet?! Still annoys me.
