Should we maybe start a Fire Emblem catch-all thread? We have threads for Awakenings and Fate, but with so many FE games coming in the next couple of years was wondering if a FE catchall would work better.

Make it so.

Fire Emblem Warriors Arrives on Switch & New Nintendo 3DS This Fall

Fire Emblem Heroes Revealed for Mobile, Arrives on 2nd February

Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia Coming to 3DS on 19th May

I loved Sacred Stones but none of the other games have really clicked for me but I keep trying them.

Honestly, that would be one of the reasons I get a Switch, I didn't get a 3DS or a WiiU, and I miss the series.

PS: Should this be in games?

I can move it myself, it seems!

You got a friend in me.

Thanks, I didn't want to curate the thread, so someone else can deal with that.

Fire Emblem Warriors ANALYSIS - Extended Reveal Trailer (Secrets & Hidden Details)

Is it me or are the newer titles more.... absurd? I couldn't get into them. Just, overall. I enjoyed some of the GBA ones (Blazing Sword and Sacred Stones) And also the GameCube titles (Radiance something -- there were two of them). Actually, they were pretty much why I owned a GameCube or a GBA.

Anyways, Nintendo, that's how you get me to by your new Switch thingamajig.
(watched the last video -- nope). Hmm, looks like the 3DS title is the best bet. Here's hoping I didn't chuck it in the garbage when I tossed the first FE 3DS title in the trash.

FE Awakening was the first one I played so I couldn't tell ya. All I know is they went more modernized anime and started selling better than ever.

However, I think Echoes is indeed an indication that they're not going to "abandon" their original audience.

Does anyone else have issues with the FE Heroes site? When I go to choose a legend by Game Title I can only see FE Shadow Dragon and the left/right arrows don't work. Then if I do a Random Selection the "Next Hero" button doesn't work.

I can still choose a hero, but it's incredibly tedious to find someone I want to choose as it's completely luck of the draw.

Unfortunately all I can say is "worked for me". Running in Chrome.

Anyone get their coins for voting? I've voted twice and still nothing, even after agreeing to link MyNintendo.

Wooooow. That is a lot of analysis from very little gameplay.

My guess about the weapon triangle is it'll be handled like it's handled in DW8 in that normal mobs get mowed down regardless, but officers will have a +/- affinity based on the weapon you are using. Frankly, my guess is Omega Force will be stripping the exact system they already have in place and plopping it into FE Heroes. Well, one tweak so that you don't have one affinity and two not, but instead one affinity, one neutral and one negative affinity.

Maybe they're correct about elements being the affinity portion, but that feels like a miss as the weapon triangle is much more integral to FE.

Likely true. I think I've resigned myself to buying a PSP or.. the thing came after for my JTactics fix. Specifically, Tactics Ogre (?) and then probably a replay of WoTL.

I enjoy SRPGs, but I just can't seem to get into the Fire Emblem franchise. I'm playing Fire Emblem 7 on the Wii U and the game isn't clicking for me. The story is forgettable, the characters bland, and the gameplay far too simplistic to be enjoyable. The game doesn't do anything badly, but it doesn't do anything well either. It just feels like a poor man's verison of Shining Force II.

With that said, I've heard that the Tellius series is very good, so when they eventually get released on the Switch I'll check them out. I also want to try out Thracia 776 sometime. Until then I'll just stick with Battle of Wesnoth and pray for another Advance Wars.

Wow, it's crazy how Fire Emblem was on the brink of being cancelled until Awakening saved it and now it seems to be one of the big franchises Nintendo is happy to push. What a turnaround.

Anyone played Heroes yet? I'm playing it. Seems inessential, but okay the first few minutes.

I'm enjoying it quite a bit. It's definitely the popcorn version of the game, but I'm okay with that.

Any reason to try this if I still have Birthright and Conquest waiting for me? I don't care about the fact that it's on a phone.

I wouldn't choose this over any of the main Fire Emblem games from what I've seen so far.

It plays really fast and you always have your phone with you? If you like streamlined Fire Emblem it seems like the most streamlined version yet.

Take this with a grain of salt because I've only played the tutorial(9 times) but I think they probably should have gone with teams of three. Between the small maps and limited movement you can make more often than not you're stuck with a unit that you can't do anything with. Feels very confining.

It's an entirely different sort of experience, honestly. Heroes is a gatchapon-style game that's about collecting characters and building teams and all of that. It has story, and it uses a lot of the same mechanics as Fire Emblem, but it's not really the same type of game or meant as a replacement for Fates.

Ok, thanks for the input. It's free to try, so no harm in trying. I'll check it out.

"Free to try"? Is that the same approach that Mario Run has taken? Loading it for free, then - if I like it - I pay ten bucks and never have to buy anything again?

FE Fates is free to play and has many of the hallmarks of a F2P mobile experience. If those are huge turnoff for you then probably stay away, though I have yet to hear too much complaining about it. So far they've done a good job balancing things.

I expect it'll feel less like that when you have a larger selection of characters who can move farther and who have longer range attacks.

Also, my third summon got me a 5 star Marth. Wow.

Got a decent group of 4-stars but no 5-stars yet. Looks like there's a long grindy path to upping the stars of your characters, but talking about thousands of the feathers you earn from PVP to do the leveling process. Not sure it's feasible for more than a few, without spending some cash.

Feels like this one will be a slow burn.

Are we exchanging friend codes here? I'm sure I'll keep playing for this month and then see beyond that.

Wish it went more that way. I'd rather pay $10-15 and just keep playing this, as it's pretty fun. But it's much more of a "long grind or pay now to shortcut" type of F2P game. And even then there is a ton of RNG involved in which characters you get.

At least you have 200 character slots to start. So you won't have to spend money on more space for a while, if ever. Most F2P collection type games hit you there fast.

No, it works with a variety of limited resources that you either earn in game (at a very slow rate) or you can buy in bulk for outrageous prices. If you ever played Final Fantasy Record Keeper, it's identical to that. If you didn't, I'm happy to give a breakdown if you'd like.

I'm playing it, and still re-rolling to try and get Lyn. I enjoy it in the same way I enjoyed Record Keeper, it's got just enough of the core mechanics to have some strategy, but without requiring the hours of play the core games can require for a single battle. I doubt I'll stay with it though, because just like with Record Keeper the gatchapon character collection aspect is too frustrating.

EDIT: Game just gave me 5* Roy. Roy is not Lyn. Deleted.
