Black Desert

Life after 50 really benefits guilds/friends or a steady group to play with. For one you get more xp when grouped up and you need to start doing dailies. You also are able to pick up guild quests which are worth more xp.

You also have to start farming the areas that are pvp prone. If another bigger group wants to farm the area you're at they will push you off.

Got the game over the weekend. Enjoying it so far, though I have watched YouTube videos about how to play as much as I have played this far.

Is anyone currently in a guild that’s welcoming/okay with folks who are a bit more casual (i.e., PvE focused)?

I had one back when I was playing last year, but they have (very understandably) dropped me, and I’d love to be able to take advantage of the fun and features of having a social group to connect with again.

Ha! I saw that you were on last night. If you find one let me know. Not sure how much i can play so finding a guild that allows that will be slim since there's a size limit.

I also couldn't figure out what my supply chain was for or where to begin again.

Yeah, that guild size limit is the real killer, right?

I mean, it’s not like I play “casually” when I play a game, but it’s hard to make a case that the way I play would have enough value to the average guild to justify taking up a slot.

As for the personal economy, yeah, I’m right there with you.

I know I had a farm that was producing all the goods I needed to cook the buff items I wanted, as well as many more tons of sunflowers than I had the time to box up and sell. I also had things set up so I could make the easiest of boats and was working towards making a higher grade one. Oh, and I was doing quite a bit of AFK fishing too.

But before I bother reestablishing all that, I need to do some research and understand how things of changed -- and right now I’m much more interested in having fun with combat, so I’m just leveling my Tamer towards being able to play with the Awakening stuff, and almost completely ignoring the management sim stuff for the time being.

Do workers only workify when you are logged in?

(granted this could have changed since i last used them)

Nope they keep working on assigned tasks as long as they have a supply of beer.

Does the beer need to be in the warehouse for that city?

Yes, but i think they did make a change where it will pull from your own inventory as well.

You have to spend the beer from your inventory in order to give workers more energy. Can't just leave in the warehouse I believe and they'll automatically use it. That said workers can last a long while depending on there level. Once or twice a day to feed can be enough. Mine have been running for a long time.

Starting to make some nice money, and am messing around having fun with the skills. Made a bunch of alts just so I have there energy and a few key ones at cities. Good fun.

So what's this house lottery money they keep sending? I have over 2million so far in my email each time i log on.

I believe it is a "catch up" device where you get a wad of silver each day with the total dependant on cumulative combat, life, and knowledge levels.

Catch up in the sense that if you have not played allot you get cash to help bank roll new gear, etc; and if you have been playing continuously it is most likely peanuts.

That's actually kinda cool, but yea peanuts. I checked out the marketplace last night and inflation for stuff is crazy. People were freaking out back when things hit 55 million for items. That now seems to be low end of the stuff being posted.

I saw some posts on the thread, so decided to hop in again. I was reading we can have a "clan" for chat for free. Do we have one of those for GWJ?

We did, but not sure if it's still in place or not.

Yeah there's a daily reward based on your family's fame:

If anyone's curious my favorite fishing spot is little way out from epheria port. Close enough for repairs and no one else fishes around there. Plus the occasional hotspot with the 200k fish. Oh and there's an imperial fish trader there which basically doubles the value of the fish. Wind up with like 1.5 million every four hours while afk.

Another fun thing I messed with is trading via shipping. I found you could ship trade goods via boat from the city before the desert to epheria. Had an alt sending goods and my main selling them. Makes a little money and lots of trade xp. Needed a higher level for quest.

Messed around with lots of other silver making things but these seem the best.

Yeah, while I've somewhat resumed my farming and worker business, I haven't yet gone back to AFK fishing. While it is a profitable way to spend time idling, the big problem is that I was doing fishing on my main -- after all, many of the better fishing spots require crossing dangerous territory -- and the time spent traveling to and fro and getting set up to fish would detract from what I'm having the most fun with in the game right now, which is combat.

Speaking of which, getting close to finally getting to play with an awakening mode now. My Tamer is about two thirds of the way to 54, and while my armor is all still in the +10 to +13 range, I've got a pri Liverto sword, a pri offhand as well, and enough cash to buy a pri bo staff if I want to settle for the green quality weapon. (I'm holding off for now in case I can save up enough for the blue quality before I hit 56.) So, I'm getting pretty excited about that!

Yeah I'm working up to a awaking. Just hit level 54 grinding wandering rogues. They also dropped a nice 5 mil piece of loot to sell and some other junk. My gear is pretty shabby though. +15 weapon and low armor in the +5 ranges. I've tons of stones but haven't sat down to fix it. I got a great deal of money though so I probable should upgrade.

As for fishing I unless I'm focusing on it I just do it anywhere. Works well enough and usually I'm grinding somewhere close to water.

Edit: Also don't be me and not realize some servers have an xp boost on them....

It is my understanding that retuning / new accounts can only access those channels for 30 days. OTOH the other channels may have less people at lower level grinding spots.

And I'm done. Spent 4 straight hours grinding at 200% xp with a group occasionally. Got to 50% xp before I just sorta snapped. Just short of 56 and the new weapon. Still not worth it to me. Still for the little money I paid I had a very good time. Maybe I'll come back later and level a mage but not for a long while. Can't imagine playing without all the boosts.

I managed to reach 56 and get my awakening weapon, and that was indeed very cool. I'm still at it, maybe 10% of the way to 57, because the abilities that unlock there also sound cool, but the grind gets SUPER real after 56, so I might call it quits too before I make it there.

However, I think I am going to at least spend some time playing a few of my alts before I fully shelf the game again -- the combat in this game is just so damn fun that I really just want to see how some of the other classes develop.

I'm getting mixed info from the web, is this pay2win on the NA servers? pay4convenience ?

At the high levels it's now pay2win, but if you're not worried about high level content then it's convenience. If you've not played i highly recommend it just to see what they've done.

Lot of the confusion is at the launch of the NA servers they promised not do some of the activities with their store that their KR/JP/RU offerings were doing and they were highly P2W. It started out that way then they changed their mind about 4-6 months after launch. Then they had a mass exodus and they've since gone back to eliminate a lot of the biggest complaints and made it compatible for people who are not in Node War guilds.

I'd say it's heavily pay 4 convenience. Pets that auto pickup loot, high light gather points, and other neat stuff. Maids that act as storage or for the marketplace. Some items and gear that boost leveling speed. Or the one I used a lot, got three of them free, was +15 to storage and inventory.

That said I still really recommend this game. The combat is pretty damn fun and everything around it is very unique. The whole node system, and all the crafting/life skills. There's a lot to go off the deep end if you really wanted too.

I will come back to this but for now I got a lot of options what to play so I'll wait. And hey I'm still making money everyday so when I come back it'll be nice.

Apparently this is now on Steam and $6 on sale this weekend. Is it worth picking up still?

I remember trying the beta but I didn't get hooked so passed at launch.

It's one of the most beautiful MMOs out there with a LOT of depth (some say too much depth). It's also my favorite as far as combat mechanics as well.

Hi all,
I play usually on the EU server, since there is better connection for me, but can make an alt on NA, in case there is noone playing EU. I am very causul player, meaning I play at my own pace, sometimes not the whole week, sometimes several hours a day, depends. I found a guilt that is very friendly with this. The guild is called Neverlight, it is LGBT friendly and again, it is on EU side. I have been with them for about half a year now and so far very nice folks to hang around with. Since I am so causual, I cannot really contribute to their guild boss fights, because the highest level on my main is like 35. So any boss would change my witch into a bunch of little dwarfs Oh, I forget to mention, the guild is not PVP really, they group tpgether for bosses, no battles for nodes etc. At least not so far. So PVE mainly. And we just hang out and talk in our guild chat and share ideas and talk about anything. Good folks.
That being said, I would love to hang out with a groupie of GWJers, so if there are few here interested, chime in and write your family names here and what server you are on.
My family name on EU is PearlRaven
