2016 Community Game of the Year - Results posted (at last)!

The histories will make no mention of purges.

I, for one, think this is a terrible move. Hitman, while an outstanding game, will win 2018 GOTY despite the vote numbers being "suspicious". I guarantee it.

Thanks for all the hard work over the years, Clocky.

Thanks for all the time & effort & Clocky. You've done a great job since I've been here with these GOTY threads, the results are always up quick (especially if you get no help with the counting process) & your witty posts always bring a smile.

Crap I'm hitting the quote icon instead of the edit.......duhhhhhh

I'm doing fine thanks.

My phone has went mad

I know this is terribly delayed, so I'm not going to worry about making it pretty.

As always, I'll post the raw data in the near future. I need to clean it up just a bit first. Thank you to everyone who participated!

Time to march on Washington to protest the loss of WItcher 3.

....really? not funny/cute/original

Thanks Clocky!
Remember to pass previous years stats over to our new torch bearer.
How else will we be able to determine the whether Witcher 3 got more votes than Rocket League ten years from now... And other stuff like you did once https://www.gamerswithjobs.com/node/...

And my 2017 GOTY prediction for HITMAN just got stronger.

Really? Why so serious?

Many thanks, Clocky. Your efforts to make this thread come together each year were very much appreciated. The attention to detail, thoughtful write-ups, and sharp wit, helped make it one of the highpoints to look forward to.

Next year you get to participate as a spectator. Enjoy it. You have earned it.

I just cannot imagine the cognitive dissonance Clock has gone through whilst running a thread dedicated to, you know, actually LIKING things.

*shudder*

So, in Clockwork's head, the thread title was actually "Top 10 games I shouldn't bother trying that GWJ played in 2016?"

Thanks Clocky for all the work over the years. These really are some of my favorite threads on the site.

Dark Souls got the 2nd spot? Not too shabby.

Is that what these threads are for? I thought they were for complaining about the final rankings.

Thanks so much for all your work, ClockworkHouse. You added a lot to the site by doing them every year.

I honestly don't know how the clockster does it. I barely have time to post, never mind manage a GOTY thread.

I took over the community game of the year voting a few years ago, and it's been fun over the years to see what people here have loved and why. But for the last few years, I've struggled to find the time to give these threads the attention they deserve and to match the effort that you all put forth. That's why I've decided to pass the torch and let someone else run the threads from here. Thank you to everyone who has participated over the years. It's been a pleasure.

I volunteer. I love spreadsheets and this is always a super important thread for me. Thank you for giving us so much over these past years.

This has always seemed like more of a database thing to me, personally.

I say we let boogle figure it out. All hail new overlord boogle!

Also for ranking those complaints.

For those interested in the nitty gritty:

Spoiler:

Previously results have been collected manually.
This will no longer be the case in the boogle future, and a standard list format will be imposed to facilitate collecting data.
Then I'm going to post raw and summarized json files containing the data.

But what if we want the results in XML?

Then your data format preferences are bad and you should feel bad!

I was going to post a YouTube vid of Cooper's No More Mr. Nice Guy, but upon closer inspection that song doesn't hold up. Like at all.

Woof.
