I know many of us are probably going, so I figured I'd make a thread for possible meet-ups, or for people to swap info on places to stay and transportation down to the city. This thread can also be used to make rendezvous plans once in DC, or to talk about local actions in other places!
I am local and will be attending. I recommend bringing long underwear and layers.
Not local. May be coming and staying with friend outside DC.
Is it ok to post here if people find out about (or organize) local marches around the country for those that can't travel to DC?
i am from philadelphia and planning to attend. any ladies from there?
EFF has posted some digital security tips for protestors.
We're planning on attending, travelling from Chicago. Staying with a friend and bringing our (then, almost) 2 yr old.
I really hope this gets lots of press.
We need to remind the public, and the government that the majority of Americans didn't vote for trump and don't agree with him
We're still coming, and we're starting to get more and more information. Currently deciding whether or not the stroller comes with us to the march itself. Also making sashes (echoing the suffragettes) and also hats now.
There is going to be a sister march in SF on that day. My wife and my aunt and uncle are joining me for the event.

There's another one in Seattle too. My wife and daughter are going. I have an old friend from England who I haven't seen in a decade in town for one day that day. I'm going to see if he wants to see some good old fashioned American democracy in action.
My train from Baltimore is going to get in stupid early in the morning. (5:43 AM!) So if anyone is around that early and wants some coffee and knows a good place for coffee... Let me know!
Well you could Metro out to northern virginia and hang out with some normal people beforehand.
Feeding details of the sister march in Omaha to my wife. The seed has been planted but she says "It is a good cause, but I'm not really that politically motivated." Gotta tread lightly, but I'm downloading the p*ssyhat knitting pattern.
My husband and I are driving up from NC with our daughter on Friday, staying outside of DC, then public transportation in for the event. Katy is hooking us up with hats.
Also making sashes (echoing the suffragettes)
I like this idea, off to do some internet searching...

PlusOne is doing them Sunday, I think, I'll see if I can Pm you the pattern they are using.

I probably have time to make one additional hat and still mail it off in time, if there's anyone else who would like one.

We'll be sporting original Katy hats
Friend of mine posted some tips:
-Check out all the official websites for this event, so you know where you need to be, what you can and cannot bring, and all the phone numbers for where you are staying, legal aid in case something happens, etc.
-Dress for the weather. It IS January...
-Make sure you wear nothing or carry nothing that you can't live without (pickpockets love crowds).
-Tell people at home where you will be. Charge your phone. Check in regularly with your people. March with a buddy if you can.
-Carry a bottle of water, some sort of nourishment and any medicine you may need for the day.
-Be aware of your surroundings at all times. Give yourself "An Out" (if something happens, people tend to stampede to get away).
And, the piece of advice that I guarantee will come in VERY handy: Carry toilet paper.
As for the hats:
(Worn with the brim turned up, of course.)
Wife's t-shirt for the march came in today from Turner and Pooch.
My wife and I changed our plans and will not be attending. Everyone stay safe out there!
Also, these posters for the march are pretty great:
I was going to do that with a suffragette style sash for the march.
Since I'm sure cell service will be a total sh*t show, use something adhoc like FireChat for easier communication.

My daughter's shirt has the same items in a different order.
Does anyone know how the wifi service should be? Would a Slack channel work?
Be safe out there today! I admire everyone who is able to attend any of the events today.
