World of Warcraft: Legion (7.3.5 edition)

I really like how they reduced rogue snare abilities and increased snares of others (Frost DK is now 70% LOL) while our gap closing abilities are on longer cooldowns than most others. Welcome to World of Rogue Kiting! I'm glad I've been working on my DH as there is no reason to even play rogue anymore except as roleplay and solo farming with stealth (where druids are still better due to heals).

I wonder if there's a big difference between rated and random BGs then, as Rogues have consistently, whether I'm Elemental or Enhancement, been the biggest threats to me, usually less from not being able to escape and more to just never not being locked in place with stuns, constant silences so I can't fight back, and interrupts.

Sure, it's a slow death, but its a death I can't really fight back from, no matter how long it goes on.

Huge! Yuge even!

The old school teams and the new teams trying to emulate them group up for rated. Unless you're a guild group going in for fun the rated side is serious business.

New source for Legendaries... Blingtron 6000? Good thing the new rechargeable battery was introduced.

Ugh, that means I need to level engineering to max... I've been sitting at 780 for months.

Yeah, I've only got one 3 star recipe for alchemy (and that's prolonged power) since Legion, making flasks and potions for a lot of guildies... so I've been stuck at 790 for a long time now.

In the image it says blingtron 6000 gift package, maybe it's just a random reward or some kind of catch up thing sent to players behind in where Blizzard has deemed they ought to be in legendary count.

Edit - never mind, I just figured out the answer.

My holy priest no longer has to choose between the only defensive CD and the only movement CD!

...I'm still probably going to try and get my resto druid alt geared up to be my main for NH.

I've gone from being 1 of 2 Monks in my usual raid to being 1 of like 5 to 7. Is it bad that that's making me want to go back to my Druid even though I still really like Monk?

Ok, so I have no idea how MM hunter is supposed to play now. Even with the changes to secondary stats allowing me to wear my higher ilevel stuff, I'm seeing lower numbers than before 7.1.5. In fact, after my raid last night, I was seeing HIGHER numbers running BM in the same gear, and I don't have my 35 pt trait in that yet... I guess I'll run BM until I figure it out.

I tinkered with my ret/holy paladin last night but didn't actually take him out in the world.

No, I got sidetracked by engineering. To get the new engineering shoulder enchants, I have to run Court of Stars to knock out that engineering quest first. And to open up Court of Stars, I have to do something like ... (counts on fingers) ... 185 more Suramar quests to unlock it.

* sigh * That's my tribulation for leaving Suramar for last.

I've become beloved by many, many WoW factions over the years. Bur the Nightfallen are the neediest by far. Not only do I have to supply then with crack daily, I have to jump through all sorts of hoops (do quests, train zombie army, etc.) for them to even consider helping me out.

If the next expansion comes with a new title ("Jorrn the Truly Crazy") that requires me to smash every mana crystal on the map, shut down all the ley lines and put all of these meth-addicted elves out of their misery, I'm all in.

Spoiler:

I actually love the whole Suramar/Nightfallen quest line - it is truly epic and might go down as one of the best things WoW has offered. My only real regret is that I manage to distract myself from doing it. And I just needed to rant a bit.

Enhancement is a little funky right now. Still rocking Boulderfist, but gotta get used to HH soon since that WILL be best come 4 piece from Nighthold by a decent margin.

Hate Overcharge, like just straight up hate it with a passion. Do not care if Tempest is marginally worse DPS, sticking with it.

Fury of Air is f'ing HUGE and visually noisy and god my Melee partners are going to hate that.

Update: Blizzard disables 35th artifact trait for battlegrounds and arenas.

TL,DR: Character progression is important, but we shouldn't have sprung this change on folks in the middle of a PvP season. Whoops!

Blizzard did say 35+ artifact traits will be a thing in PvP Season 3. Also, "Patch 7.2 will include some further expansions to the Artifact system that will make it highly valuable to have spent some Artifact Power on those traits."

I guess we've been warned!

I mean, all things being equal, though, there is no progression. You're doing more damage and your opponents have more stamina so... it's basically the same.

Unless you're fighting an alt or a returning player who is late to the game and then they get smashed because that's super fun for them...?

Kind of reminds me of people who only played like OTK combo decks in Hearthstone. "These are so fun, you don't even know!" Yeah, I don't know, because I was your opponent who had you dead to rights next turn when you had put up almost nothing, done almost nothing the entire game, then did 54 damage to me in a single turn because "fun!"

This is why I don't even try and play MtG with my friends. They have Legacy decks built over the course of years that as a new player, would ruin me. Also, all TCG's are money-pits so opting out is a win-win for me.

I've had it done for a couple of months now.

You don't have to be their drug dealer after the Exalted questline finishes. And the pre-Nightwell questline is some really good storytelling.

I've already done this on my rogue but now that rogues suck more I get to do it all over again with my DH! (sigh)

Once your artifact reaches level 35 and has all the traits unlocked, is there any point in continuing to add artifact power to it?

The boost continues to improve, but I believe in 0.5 increments (e.g. 36 is a 5.5% DPS increase).

I also believe that Blizzard mentioned that they will be adding traits in the future. When that is, I don't know but going past 35 may not be as useful as filling out your other artifacts or saving it.

Funnily enough our raid last night had a lot of muttering about feeling/being nerfed but in actual fact we were cruising through the content - we only got our AOTC achievement last week but this week one-shot H Xav and one-phased H Illy.

This speaks to the larger issue I'm seeing from friends, guildies, etc... quite a few classes seem to be doing the same or better, but feel WORSE to PLAY. It takes more to get the same results it did previously, and that's not fun for a lot of folks.

Seeing a LOT of that in the Enhancement shaman threads on the WoW forums right now.

We had a pretty easy time yesterday as well. We got through all our farm bosses and re-killed everything we had killed for the first time last week.

On the positive side of hunters sucking it up now, is that Blizzard will probably use their patented kneejerk reactions and buff the hell out of us and nerf everyone at the top of the charts.

They've said that any AP you drop into trait #35 will roll over to the expanded trait trees when they arrive, and that all that saving the AP will get you is less effectiveness in the meantime.

Thanks for the info everyone.

Definitely had that with my holy priest, but I'm not sure yet how much that's due to it being actually worse to play vs just having to think about timings etc. that I used to be able to do automatically.

So. Legion. I loved WoW all the way up to Cataclysm, and that's where I burnt out.

Of course I purchased the Panda and Orc expansion packs, but I barely played them. Now I see Legion is getting rave reviews (which I haven't seen since Lich King), and I'm leaning towards giving WoW one last try.

So, is it worth it after being away from the game for so long? Also, should I take the boost, or is it worth it to go through the Mists of Pandaria and Warlords? Also, what tips would you recommend for someone diving back in after so long?

Fair warning: The game mechanics are exactly the same as they were before. You shoot, you loot. You get better gear to kill tougher monsters that drop better gear, etc. etc. Lather, rinse, repeat. If that was the reason for your burnout, you won't like any of the expansions.

If your issue was trying to be bleeding edge and ending up as a no-lifer, well, you don't have to do that. You can play an hour or two a night, or maybe all Sunday afternoon, and still have a lot to do -- quests, dungeons, raids, PvP, pet battles, achievement whoring, exploring the world, whatever. It's fun. The stories, especially in Pandaria and Legion, were/are great. (WoD, not so much by comparison.)

Since you asked: Take the boost so you're not lonely. 100 to 110 goes quickly. There's a lot more to do (and a lot more people doing stuff) at 110. If you like it, resurrect an alt and level that toon through the old stuff. I like Legion a lot. The Suramar story alone is worth the price of admission, especially if you like elves.

If you take the boost, just follow the bread crumbs; they'll lead you right into Legion content. Icyveins.com is your one-stop shop for specs, rotations and gearing. Five minutes on the site, and you'll have a pretty good idea how to kill stuff.

The one big difference these days: Much of the content is very solo-friendly. You don't have to troll /2 to find groups for stuff. If you need a group, there's a tool to find one for just about everything except Mythic dungeons. Mythics are entirely optional unless you're trying to be a bleeding edge no-lifer.

Good luck!

Plus if you want to see the older content for the story you can run through it, tho at 110 it will presumably be a face roll.
