Post a quote, that could have just been text but instead for some stupid reason is an image, entertain me!

Why is "current affairs" the only thing in all caps? They even managed to use 3 to 5 fonts with chalk on that one sign board.

I like the cut of your jib, sir. I think we need a thread to discuss kerning and glyphs.

Haven't any of you experienced comedy before? It's just visual emphasis to sell the joke. It's hacky, the equivalent of nudging someone and saying "get it? See what I did?" but it's not something terribly uncommon.

Actually it's more about using fonts as a metaphor about racism, and it's terrible.

JK Rawling is queen of the ret con.

I *teach* English and I think asking the writer what they consciously intended is one of the least interesting things you can do when analyzing a work.

Ever try to edit your own work? Ever have someone else do it and realize "wtf do i know?"

When I was in school, Michael Chabon came and was a guest speaker on a panel on symbolism. Sitting next to him was an English professor that went on for nearly ten minutes about the central relationship between the two main characters in Kavalier and Clay, and how their cautious relationship reflected the cautious exploration of civil liberties following the second world war, and what a masterful job Chabon had done seeding those parallels throughout the book. After he finished, Chabon shrugged, leaned up to the mic, and said, "I don't know, I just figured they'd end up f*cking sooner or later."

I don't know if he was just screwing with the professor or not, but it was damn funny.

Cheeze's comment aside, nothing that I said about Rowling or her work has anything to do with authorial intent.

(warning - mild profanity)

You will hate me for this. I prefer double spaces between sentences and hate seeing single spaces, even after reading about why double spaces are not needed and "wrong'. A body of text still reads easier for me with 2 spaces. Also, I am not so into fonts as to usually care about kerning, until r and n start looking like m, and things like that, which is quite often for my terrible eyes.

++ to 2 spaces. 2 spaces forever!

Next I suppose you people are going to insist on everyone using the thorn character and the words thee, thou, thy and thine.

Thy lack of faith disturbs me, commander.

I was just about to edit your post to FTFY and add spaces because it looked like you had not added the double spaces but in pressing "Quote" I see you actually did! It appears the forum strips out the extra space!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GWJ.com is anti-doublespaceite!

...and I can't be bothered to use the "&nbspace" thingy...

Actually, it's about ethics in games journalism.

Mrtomaytohead, the speed at which you went from the top of my list to the bottom of my list may have broken the sound barrier and disrupted the mating patterns of local fauna.

Yeah, i didn't want to get people thinking they could like me around here.

It's not the forum, it's HTML - it collapses white space by default, no matter what it is or how much of it there is, and this includes tabs, etc.

Ya know, now that I think about it. That could be considered correct.

Hell yeah, double space 4lyfe!
I didn't know it was 'wrong' either. It's still way easier to read with them in there. Of course with how much reading I do on the web, I'm pretty sure I've adjusted.

It depends on the surface the ball is on. It could do any of the above. It could even roll away from you and then come zigzagging back (I'm picturing something reminiscent of marble madness)

OK, I think someone on the Denny's social media team has gone off the deep end...
