Moving to Raleigh

I'd be interested in getting together and playing some board games.

Me too, but I don't make it to Raleigh as often since I moved to Durham.

If there's a plan, Quintin_Stone and I have a location to host.

I'd be down for something every now and then

Are there any electronics stores in Raleigh or nearby that sell hobby stuff such as arduinos, etc, etc?

These guys might know.... http://triembed.org/

We haven't got things finalized yet, but if anyone wants to join us, I'm turning 40 soon.

Yup - Ben's turning 40 - but that doesn't mean he'll start acting like an adult.

We're going to have some sort of party for him on Sunday, April 24, most likely mid afternoon - early evening.

We're just not sure what and where yet, but wanted to let you know so you can get it on your calendars if you want to join us.

Where: Boxcar bar/arcade downtown Raleigh

We've reserved some tables and we'll have food & cake around 5:00. We told them 3-6 but we can stick around as long as we like.

RSVP'd! (for 2)

Happy Birthday Ben! Sorry I won't be able to make it. My Girlfriend's birthday is the same weekend.

I'll try to make it, but it will depend how much packing I do this weekend. I'll update this over the weekend to confirm.

Happy birthday! I had a great time, even if I couldn't really hear anyone.

I did get on the high score list for Asteroids, which makes me despair for the children of today.

They had Asteroids? I was wishing they did because I didn't see it.

Asteroids Deluxe. It was up front, next to Centipede. Complete with the original vector display.

How did I miss that? Oh well.

Speaking of board games in the area, Atomic Empire in Durham is hosting an Unpub Mini on Saturday the 21st. A group of local game designers is going to be playtesting their latest games.

I will probably be there until 2:30 today

So I'll be making my annual trip to Durham to watch ACC baseball tomorrow. Go Cards!

But in a twist this year my wife is flying out of Raleigh to go see her family. So I've got a few hours to kill (noon-6pm basically) until the game. Considering just going to see X-Men since I have some old Regal passes and there seem to be a few of those in the area, one even very near the airport. And of course want to grab some dinner at 5-6 before heading back to the park in Durham.

Anybody want to hang out and watch X-Men or meet me for dinner? Food recommendations? Doesn't have to be gluten-free since my wife won't be with me this time.

Or have another game/comic/other store or something you recommend I check out for a while? Just looking to kill some time tomorrow and hopefully meet some goodjers.

Oh heck I have a Fate RPG game 12-4 tomorrow

Durham? Go to Atomic Empire.

I had no idea so many of you all lived nearby. I grew up in Raleigh.

Anyone friends with any artists in the area that I could contact for a small job? Thanks!

Yes actually. Depends on the job.

If Paleo's recommendation doesn't work out for some reason, there is this wonderful directory of people you can start asking to see if they take commissions.

My guy mostly does graphic design work on the computer, but that job looks like something easily enough done with spray primer, acrylics, and clearcoat. You could do that yourself in an afternoon. Hell, I could and have done harder stuff.

Yeah, but I want it to look good.

I think you'll be looking for an airbrush artist.
