Wii U Catch-All

I thought he meant Shadow Complex. It's like Metroid for grown-ups.

Prime with Wii controls?!

Has been out on the eShop for awhile. :)

I thought this was the 3ds thread

shop is the master and you are all his puppets.

My favorite Metroid game is Smash Bros.

Metroid 1 or Prime 1 for me.

Also, the reason that I asked about Splatoon recently is that it's taking over my house now. I think I gave it to the kids last Christmas, and my daughter played it a bit and then dropped it in favor of Minecraft 24/7.

For some reason, it came back out about a week ago, and now both kids are playing obsessively and buying new weapons, clothes, etc. Last night, my wife even got into the act after the kids went to bed! And then she played again this morning!

Splatoon fever, we has it!

Damn! I thought AM2R was happening. Other M has been on the UK (European) eShop for a while.

I just sat here for a minute. Super Metroid is already there. So's the Prime trilogy. Metroid 1? No, that's there. Fusion is there too. Zero Mission? I'd like to play Zero Mission agai-wait. Oh. Oh.

This took me some time to realize you may be being sarcastic.

Yes, but I thought some people here will go to bat for it

Pfft. Not again. Not unless I really want to irritate Stele, anyway.

Like Clock, I'm about exhausted on defending its merits. Plus, at this point I may as well link my video on the game, because that says anything I really need to say about it. And I can only shamelessly self-promote myself so much before you guys start throwing stones at me.

Spoiler:

If I were curious and wanted to give the Other M proponents the benefit of the doubt, where could I go to ask if it's any good where I wouldn't be run out of town on running gag rails?

I think all 5 of its fans frequent this thread, so here is good

In less trolly news, Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon (aka that Wii one) is also now out in the eShop.

Fixed!

Watched it - great video. Sounds like I'll maybe pick it up for its own merits, but pretend I've never played a Metroid game to compare it to and possibly also ignore the story. :)

The Metroid game that must not be named.

OMG, it actually is Other M?!?!?!!?

The games that a 2 yr old can play are all Android or iOS tablet or phone games. Two is a bit young for anything other than screwing around.

Lego has a bunch of free games that are pretty good for young children. This one has always been a big hit in our (extended) family.

The problem with IOS and Android games is ads. my son has my old tablet and I loaded games on there for him and once an ad pops up he tosses it to the side because he doesn't understand how to push the tiny x in the top right. This is even an issue with paid apps now.

Now, do you have Mario Maker (you have a WiiU, so you kind of need to! ) - I made a series of levels that my kids could beat. You can create levels in which all they have to do is press to the right on the joystick. Keep the ground flat, no enemies and make sure the flag block is level with the ground.

Good idea! You could put ground-level note blocks, trampolines, and/or maybe vertical moving platforms to get some altitude variance in there as well without requiring the player to hit the jump button.

To add a slight bit of additional complexity, you can put in obstacles that require the jump button to be hit, but not the jump button and the joystick simultaneously. The beginning of the World 1-1 level that I made is like this:

downside to this is I have to set it up for him or my wife, and she's not going to do that. But I work a lot and I'm going to school so I can't always be there to set it up. It's a great idea for those times when I am in the room though so I will use it.

This isn't an issue with the Lego apps. Or the handful we've played.

Sweet, I'll give them a try.

The most important news of all? After four years of debating it in my mind, I have just bought my first Wii U!

That was my biggest disappointment when I got my version also.

Got my wife to play ReMix. She almost never plays games so it was pretty cool.

I also just picked up a copy of Smash. Time to see what all the fuss is about. It's my first foray into the series.

If you do not have a group of friends to play with or a major desire to learn the game and get better at it, it will be a huge disappointment. SSB Brawl, with the actual single player campaign would have served you better.

Once you're over that disappointment, challenge mode is kinda fun though.

It was fun for a couple hours. Man I so want to love Smash, sooo much. But there is just some block that keeps me from wanting to play it more.

Maybe not? Everyone is different. Granted many people loooooove the story mode stuff which the Wii U/3DS versions don't have, but I'm happy with the vast amount of different activities the current Smash gives players. It's packed with content.
