My wife is getting a new kidney!

Amazing news Badferret. And I'm sure everyone understands that family and life takes priority over keeping us updated.

That has to be the best "early Christmas present" ever.

Good thoughts to you, your wife, and your family.

Yay!!! Best of luck with the surgery.

Great news BadFerret. I will keep you and yours in my thoughts.

Here in Raleigh, check in for the surgery tomorrow morning in Chapel Hill at 5:45, should be out of surgery by noon or one.

Will update tomorrow post surgery when I get the chance.

Good luck! I'll keep you and her in my thoughts.

Good luck!! I hope everything goes smoothly for you both.

Did she elect to go for something efficient, or something sportier with a sun roof? Best of luck either way.

Good luck. if you need anything in the area, PM me please.

Best wishes and healing thoughts being sent your way!

Surgery went great for my wife and the donor! Will follow up this weekend when I'm home and not posting from my phone.

But I wanted to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers, this community is the best!

Congratulations! So glad to hear it went well. What a relief.

Congrats!!!

My wife celebrated her two week anniversary with her new kidney today! Everything is going great, kidney is working perfectly, she is tolerating the meds just fine and healing well from the surgery. She will have her PD port taken out on the 27th and possibly her staples as well, though they might come out the following week. Right now she is right on course to being able to go back to work at 6 weeks. We couldn't have asked for a better Christmas present!

Happy Holidays!

Today is the seven month anniversary for my wife's new kidney, so, I figured it was long past time for an update, hopefully the last for a couple of decades at least.

My wife and kidney are doing great. She says she feels 10 years younger. She will soon be stepping down to once a month labs but all of her numbers have been perfect. In fact, her doctors have her a range of creatine that women with healthy kidneys have, and a few months ago her number dropped below that range on the low end; when she checked in with her nurse about it, the nurse said not to worry, it just meant that her kidney is working amazingly well.

I'm also happy to report that the Mimi, the wonderful donor is doing great and has fully recovered herself.

So, for the last time, I would like to thank this amazing community for their support and well wishes! It truly meant so much to our entire family.

Love coming into these kind of thread and seeing good news!

Fantastic
