MLB 2016 Season

Well, he really shouldn't have taken Hendricks out when he did. It seems like he pulled him when he was finally hitting his rhythm.

Edit: fixed name.

I'm perfectly happy with the timeline we got, and have no plans to go back and alter it.

That was a marathon.

Maddon sure is lucky using Chapman with a 5-run lead yesterday didn't come back to bite him in the end.

Hopefully its a sign that managers are finally realizing that 'saving' your best pitcher for a hoped-for later advantage is sub-optimal to putting your best pitcher in when needed right now. Saves are dumb.

Yeah, using your best guys in higher leverage situations instead of when the save stat dictates makes a lot of sense. There's been some chatter about the Blue Jays stretching out Biagini and Osuna next year a bit, but keeping in the bullpen, and having them pitch a two-inning game instead of one-inning once every few weeks would do that and maybe have them better prepared come playoff time, if you're in it.

I thought taking Hendricks out was a good move. There's a time through-the-order penalty for pitchers that means by the third time through the order they're a lot less effective than they were the first time around and Hendricks had gone through Cleveland's batting order for a second time.

Having Lester come in when he's pitched recently seemed dicey to me but it's not like using unrested starters in the bullpen in the playoffs is something new. I think Lester ended up going through Cleveland's batting order just a little over two times as well.

What a fun series though. Game 7 was the only Cleveland-based game I watched in whole but the Wrigley games were fun stuff.

BUT HOW WILL THE AL CENTRAL TEAMS WHO INEXPLICABLY WIN THE PENNANT COMPETE NOW?
