I'm in.

Whenever I manage to pick it up, it will be on PC. But not on launch day. Probably more like after Christmas on a sale. But that's more because of my situation and not because of what I think of the game.

Glad to see some folks going to be on PC, but i meant reviews.

I have no doubt the game itself will be at least as fun as the last one, but the longevity depends on the matchmaking and server architecture. If that's not been addressed then this game is doomed on the PC again.

The Polygon review is pretty disappointing. I'll be waiting on this one for now.

That one seems to be a bit of an outlier. I also don't seem to agree with Arthur on most things of his reviews.

Jeff Gerstmann clearly loves it based on the Giant Bombcast this week. Friday afternoon can't come fast enough.

So, Frontier Defense is not included at launch, so no horde mode. Seems a very odd decision to me. I was leaning to pick this up largely due to that; I really like Gears of War's horde mode, but it's such a pain to get set up. Was hoping for this in Titanfall, really disappointed in the decision.

His score is indeed well below the Metacritic average for Titanfall 2.

Well, looks like I'm definitely getting this as soon as I'm able.

Ditto, Need to find more things to sell first, or hope it's under the tree at xmas.

<--- Hey! Look! I have a kastle now!

Jeff's review makes me want it. He gets me.

But I think I'm going to wait a bit still. I'd be mostly in it for the singleplayer anyway.

Announced today -

ALL DLC INCLUDED, NO SEASON PASS

This convinced me to order it. Green Man Gaming has it for $49.

His take on it in the Bombcast is really good. He's really happy about it, and the description of the gameplay really makes me excited for it.

I feel like I should buy it just to support devs that are eschewing the path that Battlefield and Call of Duty have gone down for so long. I *hate* the splintering of the playerbase that happens every time those games release a pack. Some people buy it, some people don't, and player counts in various modes and maps all suffer as a result.

That is a huge positive; one of the things that killed the first game is so comparably few people had the paid DLC map packs that those maps didn't show up in playlists.

No, what killed Titanfall 1 was you ran out of stuff to earn. I LOVED that game but I stopped playing once I got all the gear I wanted out of it. That sense of reward and progression is needed to keep the gamer coming back. (what that says about us as reward-addicts, I dunno)

Everyone I know who's talked about Titanfall 1 has said, "That was a really fun game! I wonder why I stopped playing it."

Yup!

I played close to 200 hours of it though so I definitely got my moneys worth even though I also just kind of dropped it one day.

I couldn't disagree more.
It's what killed the FPS-genre for a while (for me) - I hate those progression mechanics in multiplayer games. The fact that you could earn everything in a reasonable amount of time and then never worry about that garbage mechanic again was one of Titanfall's greatest strengths, especially comparing it to things like Battlefield. I haven't played a Call of Duty game in multiplayer since 4 (which was the game that popularized the practice in the first place), so I can't speak to that, but I imagine it's not better.
Whenever did the gameplay stop being the reason you played a game?

Luckily there's also shooters like Overwatch now as well which got rid of you earning gameplay-relevant items and weapons through painfully slow experience-progression.

I apologize if I come of harsh, but I feel unreasonably strongly about this issue. I stopped playing new multiplayer FPS games for a couple of years altogether because of this. Hopefully Titanfall 2 didn't go too far in this direction...

I tend to agree with you nako, the whole progression mechanic was new to me with Titanfall. But I grew up with CS1.6 and TF2. You just... played it.

Actually what do you think your ultimate is? Just on a different timer.

Also it was BF2 that glorified it first not CoD4.

To be fair, there's lots of folks who think like this. And there's nothing wrong with that. But recall that people who bought Titanfall were expecting Call of Duty w/ mechs since those were many of the same devs that moved over. CoD did the map pack thing and so it's not unexpected that it would happen w/ Titanfall as well (In the end, all map packs became free for Titanfall).

But by that time, many customers were used to the reward loop set forth by CoD. If you don't have a long tail, your customers get distracted by the next new and shiny. We're getting used to having a lot of new content. Think MMOs, grinding, raids, heck Destiny is a great example of keeping the gamer engaged (though admittedly, not my cup of tea). We keep putting in the hours because we might get rewarded for it. It started out as an incentivizing feature and became, for many, the reason to keep playing. I'm not saying that's right or even good. But it's what gamers have been trained to respond to.

Thank god. This is one of the reasons that Rainbow 6: Siege is one of the few games to increase its player base over time.

I agree with you Dakhath. I kept playing cod even though it felt less fun for me because I could keep trying new combos of gear and unlocks. It just keeps you hooked so well. without new stuff to try I kind of just get bored.

Hi. Made a network for GWJ on PC. https://www.titanfall.com/en_us/networks/pc/862/

Membership is set to private but the network is listed. I don't know how to invite people (which is surprising), but know I can set up some admins. Real curious if people can like apply to join, or if I have to set it public so people can just jump in. Would love to get some people in and see how it goes this weekend.

Also playing on PS4, but networks are platform-specific.

I pre-ordered on Green Man Gaming and still haven't received my key. I've contacted customer support asking for a key or a refund ASAP.

You guys and the positive campaign buzz really has me tempted to go and buy this today.

I'm starting out the gate worried about the PC. I was only able to play Bounty Hunter and Attrition modes last night. None of the other modes had enough people in the lobby to create a match.

It's like the first one all over again

I do love the new Titans though!!
