Walking Dead (No Comics! No Spoilers Beyond What's Aired)!

Not a big fan of the finale. It was a slower episode than expected and seemed to focus on the craptacular confrontations...angsty kid vs karl and morgan vs carol.

Also, can't believe the incredibly, massively stupid move of giving their guns to the wolf captive. Dumb dumb dumb. They're lucky he didn't just shoot them all.

Agreed. There's nothing about the Wolf's behavior that would indicate other wise. He should have shot everyone the second he had a gun. Or he's faking the entire "we're all dead anyways" bit.

Loved the ants and cookies imagery at the beginning though, that was nice.

Build up so that when they come back from the break, they can tease us even more by now showing Alexandria at all, and instead show what Daryl, Sasha, and Abraham were up to after Eugine squeaked "help" into the radio (then forgot he had?).
Carol's insistence on fighting Morgan to kill the wolf seemed out of character for her. She wasn't wrong that he was a threat, but her forcing the issue is what allowed him to escape. She is murder-happy, but she's also smart enough to know she could wait it out and deal with it after they've dealt with the walkers, or just wait for Morgan to be distracted, then kill the wolf when he's not looking.

Considering how often they're all shown to casually headshot zombies, both Rosita and Tara could have easily shot him in the head before he could have cut the doc's throat.

So, random wild speculation at the future that's not really a spoiler, but I will tag it anyways.

Spoiler:

Just based on the way the writers like to screw with us, I wouldn't be surprised if Carol kills Morgan, and then at some later point a redeemed Wolf guy shows up at an opportune moment to save her life.

I came here to post that I think I'm done with the show also. My wife and I just finished up the mid-season finale and were completely underwhelmed. Nothing in the episode made me want to keep watching or care about what's going to happen. It's really a shame because I use to LOVE the show. This season has gone way downhill.

I keep hearing how much this last episode disappointed, and yet I was happy with what I got. The town overrun, Deana passing on the baton, Morgan v Carol; all were flawed but I liked what they're doing.

I'm mostly annoyed with the Wolf taking a hostage when they've professed nothing but a love for death and release.

The wolf may want someone to turn into a wolf. They have to recruit some people.

Is this the latest thread? Seems out of date. Anyways, re: tonight's episode:

Yeah it was a brutal episode. I would have been happy not seeing so much head bashing, but I guess they had make it obvious why Rick needs to fall into line.

There are 3 threads for The Walking Dead, each with its own spoiler level.

Why's it any time I see you two converse on GWJ, I say to myself, "But...but...you two could..."

I'm a little bit speechless over the episode, and must say, I'm grateful for Talking Dead. It really helped me to process the gut punch of a show and the downright inhuman brutality that I had just witnessed. I just can't get Glenn's face out of my mind. To see him trying to talk like that ... I just can't find the words. Brutal on so many levels.

I almost didn't watch this episode, the ending last season affected me a lot more than I thought it should. I couldn't get that sound out of my mind for a long time. I'm not sure if I'll stick around much longer. So bleak and cruel. The bad humans in this world make the zombies seem downright cuddly.

I'm either gonna have to Carol-up or nope out!

Could... text? We both have jobs, you know.

Wife and I know what happened, but hadn't gotten around to finish the season finale. We looked up what happened last night. I enjoy the show and the comics, but after this even in the comics, I didn't make it much further. I think the depressing world is just a little too much at this point. We aren't sure if we are going to keep going.

I need some sort of uplifting fantasy or scifi show... I might be done with depressing fiction for awhile.

I've chosen to not watch the episode. My high schooler son and I have been watching but I'm leaving the show for the same reason I eventually left the graphic novel.

I think at this point it seems to have covered all the themes it knows how to cover and therefore each time it starts to repeat them, just raises the gore and viciousness ultimately I think so that despite everything they've been willing to do to survive that we can still somehow see Rick and his group as 'the good guys'.

I'll check the thread from time to time to see if they find an interesting new path but I just don't see it happening anymore.

For those of you who will still be following the show, I hope it exceed my expectations.

Honestly, that is pretty much how I handled last night's episode. I almost checked to see who died before watching, because I thought it might lessen the blow. And I didn't have a lit of who I hoped it would be, or who it had better not have been. Negan is a different kind of villain, and he seems more real and evil here than in the comics.

But I had trouble starting the episode, and still wonder if it is what I want going on. I took a long, long break from the comics after the equivalent issue. Last season's 90 minute finale of absolute dread and horror, and I watched them slowly get worked into place to face the consequences of their actions, and really, their egos, set the event up so much more intensely.

I'm not sure where my head is on the show. Last night was more intense and gut wrenching than I even thought it would be. And man, I knew this Negan was a huge game changer. I think the show is great, and I'm not sure the last two episodes could have been done any better. But it might not be what I want to fit my head.

And man, I wish I had Talking Dead last night. I had stopped my recording it because i don't watch FtWD, and I forgot to set it up again. It's on again Wednesday night, but that is an awful long time to process without seeing it. It took me a long time to head to bed after the episode.

This episode is right up there with the Red Wedding for feeling me leaving just awful at the end. I almost stopped watching GOT after that episode and felt the same here. That image of Glen, ugh that's going to be stuck in my head.

I don't read the comics and I don't want any spoilers but there has to be some sort of redemption eventually, right?

I think I'll have to keep watching because there are still too many people in this show I care about. But man that was rough.

Guys, c'mon. I can't believe I have to say this again. Don't bring the comics up in this thread. There are three threads for this show because people refused to stop bringing related material in two of them.

No one has spoiled anything with the recent comments, but I have seen this happen in various threads now, as soon as the related material is brought up, it's just a matter of time before someone posts something truly spoiler worthy.

So please, it's in the thread title. Only talk about the show in this thread. As far as this thread is concerned, non of that other stuff exists!

As for my feelings on the episode.

Man was that hard to watch. I almost stopped watching a couple of times but something kept me going. I think it may have been just how good Jeffrey Dean Morgan was as Negan. I think what he did in that episode was fantastic, and it could have easily become mustache twirling comical. Yet somehow, in spite of how far they took that episode, I thought his character came off as authentic. If that even makes sense. He made me believe in that character.

It was certainly a tough episode to watch, but in the end I thought it was pretty good and I am looking forward to seeing how this all turns out.

I agree with this completely! He was spot on. Or whatever is a cut above that.

Negan doesn't just stick the knife in and twist it, he sticks the knife in, twists it, twists it back the other way, pulls it out, stabs somewhere else, pours lemon juice on the wound, twists it 360 degrees, and finally describes what he just did in loving detail..

and then turns to you waitiing for you to thank him.

All while smiling that beautiful Jeffrey Dean Morgan grin.

Is what they revealed in tonight's Talking Dead considered a spoiler? Because, I did not expect that.

Oh this one is going to make people cry.

I was thinking it was a dream or vision like Carl's of Gardener Negan, but looks from Talking Dead that yes, real future of show.

I actually thought that episode was one of the show's best, so screw off, articles Monday that said otherwise.

Arise thread. That was rough.

Oh man yes. I thought i was jaded at this point with the show. I was wrong.

On the bright side, Henry.

You knew something was going to happen, it's formulaic at this point. Big bad gets introduced and eventually some big characters die.

Yes but it was the quantity that got me.
