Titanfall 2 Catch-All

I feel like 4k/60 is becoming the current rough equivalent of bullshots from 10 years ago.

1. Advertise 4k/60
2. Hype 4k/60
3. When the game releases and it stutters on the advertised 4k/60 hardware even when running 1080p... shrug.

Yeah, I mean that video was running on a Titan video card. That's not exactly common hardware among us normies.

That's the point though. If it's like every other thing like this, the game will come out and people with Titans will fire it up and it will stutter and lag and jitter and whatever other game framerate performance problem word you can come up with.

I'm dealing with this right now with Forza Horizon 3. 4k/60 videos came out that were apparently running on a GTX1080. Well I have one and a freshly built very high end computer and the game installed on an SSD. Game still won't hold 60fps even at 1440p, much less 4k.

And this is happening with every new game that's even halfway a graphical showcase now.

I think the one and only recent game that has lived up to its "the game will perform this way at this resolution" pre-release promises is Doom.

So they're gonna say Titanfall runs 4k/60, and I'll just roll my eyes until they get through release week without huge complaints from people that forked up the cash for high end hardware.

PC version will release with no SLI/Crossfire support as well.. you can bet on it.. which will result in poor 4K performance even under Titan cards.

Yep.

That they're pushing 4k so hard right now while simultaneously half-assing or completely ignoring multi-card support is really dumb.

I think I liked the cinematic trailer for the first game more. This one is a little too wordy.

Has there been any news on whether this game will have the horde style mode they added later on to the first one?

First one didnt have a SP campaign.

If they're smart we get everything the last game had and all the new stuff is added to that. If not there's going to be a lot of angry folks.

I don't think I mentioned a single player campaign. The first one certainly had a cinematic trailer.

Correct there were no needs for words, just action. The fact that this trailer was for the SP story explains why this one was wordy

oops wrong thread

I recently got Amazon vouchers for my 40th birthday, and decided to treat myself to Titanfall 2 on pre-order. Loved the first, and looking forward to the sequel.

I wanted a digital copy, as my One is linked to a friend's, and it means that he can play with me. Went on Amazon, and checked out the pricing.

£42.99 for the physical copy, £54.99 for the digital! That's just wrong.

No matter which you feel is the more valuable (and for me the digital copy should be on par with the physical price, if not lower), a difference of £12 for exactly the same product is pretty ridiculous.

I'll probably still end up buying it, but it's put me off for a bit.

Yep, I hate that.

I really don't disagree with your the premise on pricing, but it kind of makes sense, given the current way games are sold. People buying physical are more price conscious. Digital buyers tend to be more interested in convenience.

And in your specific case, which is not uncommon, you are buying one copy to be shared, simultaneously, by two gamers. That's a $30 break if you had to buy two copies, not a $12 deficit.

The sooner we accept a lack of a secondary market, the sooner prices in digital will drop, in my opinion.

Fair points Jayhawker. For what it's worth, I paid the extra for the digital copy for exactly the same reason as you said - I'm technically buying two copies. Admittedly they're probably getting a bonus player for that, as I'm not sure my mate would have bought it otherwise, but you're right, I'm using it twice.

In terms of your premise of those buying physical copies being more price conscious, that certainly doesn't apply to me from a PC perspective. Although that may be because there isn't much option other than digital these days.

I would buy more games digitally on One if they were cheaper.

Yeah, it doesn't go for PC because the secondary market has already been eliminated on PC. So digital or physical are essentially the same thing. But while you can still sell your physical copies of console games, it will still see the most cost conscious gamers. It's not rare to see people choosing physical for just that reason, and I can't blame them.

I'm so in on this. I keep forgetting that it's going to have a single player as well. I've been trying to decide what to play next, from an overly filled range of options. But the obvious answer is this!

It's available for pre-load on Origin.

Reviews are out and they're quite positive so far: http://opencritic.com/game/2834/tita...

Man, I have been vacillating on this one, because I'm totally occupied with Destiny, but I just saw that super cheesy "Become One" trailer and I LOVED IT!

I am such a sucker for cheese.

A touching story, about the love between a man and his giant robot killing machine.

Are they including the horde mode that was added later into the original Titanfall?

So whose gonna be getting this in ps4?

Destiny's always going to be #1 but his looks like a worthy side dish. If only for the 5 hour campaign and maybe a dozen more in MP it'd be a nice buy. I'm also a sucker for sci fi prettiness.

I probably will be getting it on PS4, it is where I play most of the multiplatform games these days.

As a huge sci-fi fan, I sometimes wonder why I don't play more sci-fi video games.
