MLB 2016 Season

The Giants' bullpen woes finally caught up to them at the worst possible time.

I'm ready to celebrate the end of EYBS.

I have to say I'd like to see a Chicago/Cleveland World Series Just to see one team's championship losing streak come to an end.

That's our plan but our game 2 starter just maimed himself on his own drone so we may lose the coming series in a very Cleveland way.

His drone?! I saw "stitches on pinky finger" and assumed he cut himself cooking. Though Russell Martin had to get stitches because he cut a pinky celebrating the wild card win so maybe I shouldn't be so incredulous.

I only watched the last 3 innings of Nationals-Dodgers but that was something. I thought Jansen was going to pull off the 3-inning save but Kershaw coming and closing was just as good.

Every team in it has a decades-long streak of not winning it all going.

Toronto - 1993 (23 yrs)
Cleveland - 1948 (68 yrs)
Dodgers - 1988 (28 yrs)
Cubs - 1908 (108 yrs)

Two of these things are not like the others. One of these things is really not like the others.

Go Ind...I mean Cleveland! Go Cubs!

Then Go Cubs!

We whine about it less than Chicago but yeah, literally any other year we'd be talking about it more but... LeBron.

Also our mascot is racist and is to be shunned.

For me, I saw the Blue Jays back-to-back wins in '92-'93 and the Dodgers in '81 and '88 (not in person, just on non-HD TV). The other two have never won in my lifetime so living in a world where Cleveland or the Cubs are World Series Champs would be kind of cool.

But then again, if the Cubs win, it's a sign of the apocalypse. As A. Whitney Brown once said, "It's in the Bible: 'When the small bears from the windy place take the flag, then ye shall know that the end is nigh.'"

And I just noticed -- thanks to tboon's post -- that Cleveland last won a World Series just 3 years after the Cubs last appearance in one.

=)

2 more....

Man, the Cubs had a helluva second inning: a kill at the plate to end the top of the second and then a steal of home by Baez in the bottom half after some solid hitting.

I'm starting to believe ...

Dipping my toe into this thread. As a lifelong Cubs fan it is hard to get excited... But damn I am hopeful. Last night's loss was the hardest Cubs loss for me that I think I have ever had. Even though they are just 1- 1 and it was their ringer pitcher. I just care more now because we have hope.

I would love to see a Cubs/Indians World Series.

I happen to be traveling to LA tomorrow and the wife insisted I go to the game. Tickets were under $100! I am pretty damn excited, but also very nervous.

We are rooting for the Cubs because we like Madden and Zobrist

It really seems like a fun team that enjoy playing together. I really think that is part of their success.

Ooof

Don't think Jay's get swept but can't see them coming back the way Miller is dominating.

Back breaker losing a game where the opposing starter leaves in the first.

Also Salazar pitched a simulated game. GD if he's available for the WS....

=/

Well it's too bad that was the last post in here. They aren't winning 4 in a row, it's not happening. Nope.

Nope...

Anyway, it may have been super irresponsible but Trevor Bauer is hardcore.

Tito remains baller.

In a related note, Dodgers Stadium's next promo giveaways involve goats, black cats, and Steve Bartman bobbleheads.

Ugh... that game hurt to watch...

I hate you oily. I've been drinking and I hope your racist team poops on themselves.

Well I hope we make it to the World Series and the backlash is so pronounced we're forced to get rid of the logo.

I'm only a casual fan but the first pitch times for a number of Blue Jays games these playoffs have been abysmal. It's not like MLB has huge overseas markets with big time zone differences to have it make sense, this isn't the Champions League.

Small market team vs a mid-market Canadien team. When up against 2 huge-market teams on the same day, the AL games are at 4. It sucks but tv ratings.

How is Toronto a mid-market team? It's the 4th largest city in North America. Lead the league in attendance and was second to the Dodgers in TV viewership.

I know the MLB views Toronto as a mid-market team but that hasn't been the case since the 80s.

I'd like to take a moment and personally thank Jose Bautista for some choice quotes this week.

With our experience in our lineup I'm pretty sure he's going to be shaking in his boots more than we are.

Not wrong! Trying to psych out the rookie starting only his second game at the major league level, valid. Jerky, but valid. How did he do?

2 Hits. 0 Runs. 3 SO in 4.1 Innings.

But SURELY Bautista got to him, right? He's a scary guy.

Groundout and Flies to Center.

Huh. Well, he wasn't able to root out that conspiracy he was talking about.

All you gotta do is look at video and count how many times [Indians pitchers have] thrown pitches over the heart of the plate. It hasn’t been many. They’ve been able to do that because of the circumstances — that I’m not trying to talk about because I can’t. That’s for you guys to do, but you guys don’t really want to talk about that either.

GOD I LOVE THE PLAYOFFS. Baseball rules.

Sincerely, thank you for the great games, Toronto. Sorry about our mascot.

Because I'm ignorant? I'm parroting what was explained to me. No one [edit: in the US] cared about our series but us.

UPDATE: Trolling.

Oh definitely. It was definitely Cleveland and Canada that were into the series.

Game 6 of the NCLS! Cubs up 2-0.

Nobody say sh*t until the series is over.
