Many people have a distaste for facebook and all the information it collects. And all the stuff it nags you about, all the time. And the way it shoves ads in your face.
It is amazing to me that the aspect of my life most liable to result in being personally antagonized by a third party is video games. Talk about first world problems.

Does GWJ have a facebook presence? I cannot find it if it does. If not, why not?
Why should it?
Podcast promotion? Ability for more people to join in discussion? Visibility? I know many many gamers who listen to podcasts who have no idea what GWJ is and it surprises me. Then I realize GWJ isn't really out there in social media.

Exactly what this user said.
That's fine - but then you don't have to go there, just post here. FB would be for getting new listeners.

I'd say the lack of Facebook presence is almost entirely due to not wanting to put real life faces and names to everyone on the forums.
I also don't think GWJ is looking to promote the site or podcast. They aren't looking to take over the world.
I know of a certain number of individuals who would rather not put IRL info out there after the whole gamergate thing took off (GWJ peeps did get doxxed, in case you didn't know). There are some of us who are friends on Facebook and whatnot but that usually only takes place after meeting IRL at some point. Others are friends on Facebook even though they haven't met IRL but only after they knew them well from around here.
There's also the whole idea that we're supposed to be doing work instead of browsing forums.
ha, understood. though a private group would help that - it wouldn't help promotion.
I just multitask. Easier to post on FB since it's right there in an app. Do GWJ forums work with tapatalk? Been on this site/podcast forever, just mostly listen.
I once wanted GWJ to be everywhere. I was especially excited when someone started an unofficial Google+ group. That lasted for like five minutes. Over time though, this site became the place I visited most often. Use it enough, and it becomes second-nature. The mobile version of the site works quite well too.
Now I'm quite happy that the site is off the radar. It certainly hasn't hurt the community or the quality of the site/podcast.

the main site seems to be accessible on Tapatalk, but not the forums.

Wow this thread is what, a year old? I guess you finally got around to replying! If people want to have a discussion that is the whole point of this site, and Facebook is a terrible discussion platform.
Agree with the above. I used to dread getting asked to be subject of the employee profile. Thankfully (or sadly, depending on how you look at it) no one ever asked me.

That's a matter of opinion, and likely tied heavily to age.
Why not? We already have the forums.

It's kind of the last thing we need, really. Many of us prefer to keep a veil of anonymity.

Even worse, take it to the logic extreme of what gators would do if there was a Facebook presence. No thanks.
I was in a GWj FB group, but I see I'm not any more. It must have been shut down. Probably privacy concerns over the last few years.

There is a Twitter acct, at least.

Fair enough. I didn't realize everyone on the forums were afraid of that.

I'm pretty happy with GWJ being a kind of Narnia on the internet.
