[Discussion] First Presidential Debate 8pm (CT)

Discuss the debate as it is on going Monday.

An interesting perspective on the challenge facing Clinton, and potential strategies for her to "win" tonight.

Damn, I wish this wasn't at around 3am.

Hillary Clinton’s Final Exam

Yeah would love to watch it live, but a bit too late.

I’ve always appreciated Cable News’ sophisticated & sedate delivery. Focusing on journalistic integrity above all else.

At least they did have an accurate portrayal of tonight’s big showdown.

I think by "negative" Norman meant "thing that will get voters to turn on him." However true the rest of those thing are or how much they spell doom for him once he actually has to be the President and not just a candidate, none of those other things seem to hurt his chances of getting into the White House like the temperament issue.

Yeah I just meant, when you compare the two candidates' worst polling negatives (his temperament vs her honesty) - he can more easily address his in a 90 minute debate.

Speaking of vomiting, I actually felt slightly nauseated reading about the debate tonight and seeing the latest polls. I mean, actually physically nauseated. First time in my life that current events have affected me like this that did not involve terrorism, mass shootings or some other kind of tragic loss of life.

It's terrifying and just sickening. This is what America has come to? This man is one of the 'best' candidates for the highest office in our country? It would be a farce were it not so horrific.

Is that really his worst polling negative? His temperament? That'd be goddamned depressing if true.

How to stream the debates for free, without cable.

TL:DR version - Youtube, Facebook and Twitter are all livestreaming.

I just hope Clinton smiles enough in this debate. If I was ok with a not-pretty President I would be voting for a man.

Bloomberg TV Says it Will Fact Check Debate

Politico’s Kelsey Sutton reports that there is somebody out there willing to fact-check tonight’s debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump at Hofstra University: “Bloomberg TV will conduct on-screen fact checks of statements made by both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton during Monday night’s debate.”

Let's hope they keep a running tally of the number of falsehoods spewed by both candidates. Maybe if people see it right there on the screen for the entire debate they will begin to see Trump in a more realistic light.

Nah, probably not.

Nah, probably not. :-(

I'd like to think it'd sway some undecideds... but given the absolute bile that's been spewing from Trump from the beginning, I'm surprised there's really that many undecideds left. Being undecided between a dumpster fire and a status quo politician makes me think you just don't openly want to support or repudiate the dumpster fire... and... just bleh. I'm not watching tonight. Tonight's raid night anyway in WoW and even if the whole night is a wipe fest, it'll be a far more valuable use of my time than listening to him for even a minute.

The whole thing depresses me to no end. There's no way Trump doesn't come out the winner after this debate according to the Media. After what he did to the other republican candidates during those debates I'm convinced the guy just drags you down to his level and makes you become dumb.

Nobody does dumb better than Trump

I was really stressed out earlier, but I'm starting to settle down. Let's hold on to our butts.

Donald talks about jobs leaving but doesn't have any solution, and sends his own jobs to other countries.

Basically, it's just "Mexico bad! China bad!"

So far Clinton has been really nice to Trump with one tiny jab that she didn't let hang in the air. Looks like she's starting subtle, lets see if she starts escalating if he doesn't take the bait or not.

Oh nevermind, he took the bait immediately.

Donald isn't answering the question.

Trump just attacked politicians for being beholden to special interests who own companies that want to move jobs oversees. Bwah?

Thats called business by the way...
