Anyone have experience with a magmar egg build?

I don't have the cards to build a focused rebirth deck, but I've opened a pair of Chrysalis Bursts that have been a ton of fun. I'd love to get my hands on Silithar Elder and Egg Morph.

I like the look of this list:

Is that a good mana curve with that many five drops? Not a rhetorical question. I honestly have very little handle on what constitutes a good mana curve.

Not a clue. Here's the pile I've just started tinkering with. It went 6-1 at Rank 12 this evening. After just a few games, it's clear many of these need to be replaced.

Here's one that I made today. Finally settled on a deck that sort of retains the spirit of the faction. Thanks to NathanielG for testing it out with me.

I'm not sure yet myself, but something to think about is that some of the time you can play a five-drop on turn 2, using the Mana Springs. I think that in most games, you'll be able to play a 5 on most of your turns. So having a lot of 5s seems to make sense -- unless you are playing aggressively and need to get out multiple 1s, 2s and 3s on the early turns.

Man, he kicked my ass with that build. Abyssian can't handle all that AOE!!!

That makes sense. I try to curve around 3 and 4 right now, but maybe more 5's is a wiser approach.

Not going to lie, that deck is pretty much built to counter Abyssians. Even with that, when you got your Bloodmoon Priestess/Shadow Dancer combo going with a board full of wraithlings your deck became a real threat.

Very cool. I've never run into Lux Ignus or Bastion. How are they working out for you?

I'm debating whether to commit to crafting Vetruvian or Magmar cards first. Your deck and Kibler's video have me leaning toward Vet.

Honestly? Not what well. When they are in my hand, I always have something better to do. When they do make it on the field, their effects tend to be minimal. I was either already winning, and they change nothing, or I was already losing, and they change nothing. I think part of it is I haven't learned to use either of them well.

The provoke units are supposed to help keep my opponent in check so I have enough time to set up the back line, including Lux Ignis and Bastion. In reality, games rarely turned out that way.

I have more tinkering to do.

EDIT: Both might've helped a little in the last game against a heavy-hitting Magmar. I was able to drop a Bastion early and that was enough to help some obelysks survive.

Vet is fun. It's the Duelyst equivalent of zoning characters in fighting games. Winning is about keeping your distance, building up your army, and slowly wearing your opponent down. Conversely, if you let your opponent get too close too early, you're toast.

Magmar seems fun too and was actually my second choice. That's the grappler faction, I think, with some pretty insane tricks.

I disenchanted my Bastion, too slow and useless.

So...I'm pretty smitten with Duelyst right now. Smitten enough that I plunked down some money to get my collection going. I pulled the trigger on crafting some Vetruvian dudes and have already had a few long, epic games against Abyssian jerks.

Oh, and this stat tracker I pulled off of Reddit seems pretty swell:

PSA there is an in-browser Duelyst client, play.duelyst.com, and (curiously) that version seems a little bit kinder to my Mac. (I get big slowdowns with the dedicated client.)

Summoned a mechazor today! Still lost the fight.

How many Mechs are you running? I always get worried when I see that first Mech drop for my opponent, but I've only seen Mechazor show up twice.

I have 3 of the 1 drops and 3 of the 2 drops. It works with my Abyssian swarm build pretty well.

Got my season rewards... interesting that they add cards like that every month. I get the appeal but it might also contribute to having me feel like I'm never "caught up" like I am with something like Hearthstone.

I got to Rank 14 just leveling starter decks. Just exactly how soft is the ladder on this game? How hard is it to get to the top ranks in this... anyone here have experience with that?

I just started getting into Deulyst because of the Humble Bundle offer. If y'all didn't know (and don't want to click the link):

I thought ranking up went pretty fast, too. I started this month and bought-in to the tune of $50 to get things rolling--that was enough to get me up to Rank 5.

I've all but abandoned Hearthstone if favor of this game.

Are any GWJers still mucking about in Duelyst? I'd love to have a few friendly folks on my friends list. Sometimes I watch as much as I play when I don't want to concentrate on a game.

The latest expansion dropped a few days ago and it's bonkers.

Cheers.

I haven't tried it in a few months, but seeing it show up on some GOTY lists has rekindled my interest.

YES! I'm still in Duelyst my man. Squee9 is my name everywhere so friend me up. I just hit S-Rank tonight. It's great. This game is great. I stream this game a bunch too.

Vetruvian for life.

This was one of those Kickstarter games I backed and completely lost all interest in after it came out. Their slightly controversial switch to a F2P model did irk me a bit but I also understood completely. It's like I hold it against them for not reading the writing on the wall earlier in their dev process. I also saw Duelyst mentioned on some GWJer GOTY lists and finally decided to give it go a couple nights ago.

I've only gone through the really simple practice matches to unlock all the faction starter decks. Yup, it really does feel like MTG on a board.

I may or may not invest more time into this. It all depends on the avenues I have for grinding out cards and the effort involved in that. Would appreciate any tips for newbies!

I just played you

The 3MA with this made me want to pick it up again, but I just can't stand to play it on my PC. Still waiting on the iOS release.

Ha. I was probably making clicks in between feeding Cheerios to a toddler and doing dishes and didn't pay attention to your name. Sorry I didn't pick up on it. Did you crush me?

Kinda. I added you after.

I've got an extra Beta key for Smite Tactics if anybody is interested. It looks like a Duelyst clone. I put in a few minutes last night. The biggest innovation over Duelyst that I saw was lots of units with activated abilities.

I went back and found our game in my match history. It was ugly. I find myself spamming a lot of aggro decks to finish off the quests even though I enjoy slower, more thoughtful decks.

I was looking at my match history and realized I ran into one of the dudes that shows up pretty regularly on the in-game list of Twitch streamers. I went back and found his broadcast of our game and it was pretty underwhelming. I won off of a top deck, but it took me a few seconds to realize I had lethal. The guy mistook my incompetence as show-boating and/or stream sniping.

Ah well...no day is complete without upsetting somebody.

The top streamer in duelyst right now has 144 viewers. If that streamer thinks sniping is an issue they're delusional.

It goes the other way though. The Duelyst streaming community is so small I always know when I'm playing against a streamer so it'd be pretty simple to load the guy's stream once I see I'm matched against him.

People like complaining though.

Been a few weeks since I've played due to vacation. Excited to get back on the duelyst horse!
