For Honor - Catch All

Anyone that jumps in and is interested in grouping up i'm going to hang out in Curse while i'm playing this weekend.

I have 3 invites to the Alpha test. You just need to friend me up on uPlay and have an XBox One.

Well. Theoretically I'm in the Alpha on PS4. In reality my old browser and Ubisoft's love of over complexity on the web are thwarting me at every turn. I have an alpha key waiting for me but I can't get to it.

I have such a hard time understanding what this game is - A Chivalry type game? A Singleplayer game? Pure multiplayer?

Whenever I see this kind of game, I still find it sad that development houses try to emulate parts of Mount & Blade, but not all parts - like, in this case, combat with a lot of moving parts in a multiplayer setting. As I understand it.

I'd kill for a Ubisoft developed Mount&Blade game.
(edit: Not literally, but I'd really like it. )

All the above? There's a single player campaign, but the Alpha and lot of the media focus is on the multiplayer side of it which is a super hi rez version of Chivalry. There will be 12 heroes to choose from and each one has a very unique play style.

Really digging the game, lot's of fun. What I found odd is that in game, I am unable to join a friend, just invite them? Could be I'm doing it wrong but found it annoying when trying to join up with ranalin.

It's ubi so of course it's hard to team up

There's a social screen off the main menu that will allow people to play with each other. I had issues last test as well trying to team up.

AAaaaaaaaaaaagh.

I spent an hour or so on and off yesterday trying to get through all the web based hoops Ubisoft have placed between me and my access code. I've just spent another hour today wrestling with potential routes to the code that all consistently ended with a blank page. All the pages up to the last page work fine and then, as I allow myself a glimmer of hope, I'd hit an inexplicably blank page. Now I admit my browsers are old, one might even say out of date, but we're talking about a friggin' twelve digit code here. Ubisoft could have just emailed me the damn thing rather than a series of increasingly elaborate emails.

Anyway, I finally tried a family member's Kindle and, after hitting a few dead ends in the Umaze I reached a part of my account that is labelled 'Your Beta keys' Feeling like I'd finally made it to the end of an unnecessary long and agonising quest I went into that section of my account to find two previous Beta keys and no key for For Honor. Unbelievable. I've posted on the Ubisoft forum about it and I have to say I'm.....

Ok. They just emailed me a code. I take it all back. For Honor here I come.

So no NDA on this Alpha? I didn't see one as I signed up. I can give impressions?

No NDA and they're allowing streaming.

PM me if you want a code.

That is really really refreshing.

done and done!

I have 2 alpha invites available for the XBOne. Add me on uPlay (mudbunny-GWJ) and I will send you one.

is this coming to the PC? And is the beta only for consoles at this point?

This is the first test for consoles. I've been testing on the PC for more than a few months now.

It's an incredibly solid game. Feels like they've gone straight to For Honor 2 where they've really sussed out all the mechanics and built on top of them. Love it. I'm a slow learner with new games and I've never gone in for fighting games so, at the moment, I feel like I'm learning to drive a car whilst, at the same time, competing in the Dakar rally but the game is so fantastic I know I'll be willing to take my lumps and learn 'on the job.'

Curse you Ubisoft. I have no room in my schedule for this game but I'm going to have to play it.

It's definitely a well thought out and put together game but there's still work they need to do. The UI at places is crap. Their server infrastructure needs help. They still need to do balance tweaking on the heroes. That's what these tests are for.

This game is rad, can confirm.

Fun so far but I'm feeling like kb&mouse isn't the ideal control scheme, may try it with a dual stick later to see how that flows.

I'd be interested to know if the game was at all inspired by fighting knights or duelling in Dark Souls. I love those fights against AI knight (the duelling not so much but many do.)

Check out videos of Chivalry.

Anyone still have any invites left? xb1 or pc?

I have two XBox One invites left. Add me on uplay (mudbunny-GWJ) and I will fire it off tonight.

I suppose that's a more direct route .

I'd decided that this was coming in the last quarter 2016. So glad it's scheduled for February 2017. Gives me time to play Battlefield 1 to death before then.

Edit: Here are a few nice fights I had. Most are players vs bots matches. The fights with the spiked ball and chain knight are PvP.

One of the things they need to balance is queuing you up based on your highest character level. I primarily played with the Orochi and ended up just shy of level 20. Problem was when i went to go try another character i'd still be queued against level 19 or level 20 characters and my level 1 through 5 guy was still working out the basics.

Those 1v1 bots seem to totally dominate me for the most part, granted I've only unlocked the tier 1 fighters and the bot always seems to be the tier 2 but even so it feels like my wins only came when I managed to throw someone off an edge.

It's one of those games were you're bad at first but, after a few hours playing, you suddenly find yourself playing a lot better and winning more fights. I really enjoy fighting bots. I'm definitely getting better fighting other players but I have a tendency to get over excited and fluff it.

Edit: I watched some of my very early game play videos today. There was a really clear divide between the videos where the combat hadn't clicked and the later videos when it had. No wonder I died so much early on.

Very nice
