NFL 2016: Week 2

Once again I'd like to point out how ludicrous it is to make west coast teams play East coast games at 1pm.

So if it's not the refs, it's the scheduling? The Niners can't play the Rams every week.

49ers get a turnover from Ted Ginn mishandling a #MortarKickoff.

How are all these teams doing mortar kickoff with their non 2nd round picks?

The Texans have just stuffed the crud out of the Chiefs passing game. And when they weren't doing that, the Chiefs were fumbling.

Or Holding on a kickoff return for a TD. F*ck!

...come on, TV. Let's see some Caldwell Face.

Dang some pitiful offensive showings for week 2 mostly

After Roman got fired, OC's around the league dialed back their offenses. You can't be too careful.

3 turn overs by Winston so far. Glad I don't pay to watch the NFL

San Diego probably isn't going to need 16 missed calls against Jacksonville this game. God damn.

Hey, the Browns are up 20-0, at home, in the first quarter, and about to kick a PAT. I will just go to the office to do some work and be back before the end of the game.

Now...

24-0. It's not been a good hour and a half for "Winston has turned the corner" or BORTLESMANIA.

The dude who came up with that phrase better be getting a cut.

Damn you Jacksonville for making me think you were not that team that almost beats GB and then drops this first half turd

Jacksonville was good for a quarter and a half last week. It's not as clear cut as "almost beat Green Bay".

It's the NFL. Matchup/game in one week has nearly no bearing on the next. It's not like we haven't seen this a million times before.

St. Louis could really use Seattle learning how to play football again.

Nobody said the 49ers would have won if they played at 4. But they would have kept it closer than 3 TDs.

And it's not just them. Seattle, Oakland, etc. This thing happens multiple times a season.

And usually it's on days when there are 8-9 1pm games and 2-3 4pm games. It makes no sense to jam them all up like that to start with, but even less sense when you're punishing the west coast teams.

Article from 2013 data:

It even happens in the playoffs, which is even more unfair.

Since 2010, the Seahawks have been outscored 75-0 in the first half of playoff games that kickoff at 10 a.m. PT.

I mean I love the SeaChickens losing. But damn, NFL. Play fair.

East Coast is the Best Coast!

Spoiler:

I'll give you Southern California as being awesome, but most of them rest of the West Coast is dreary and Ohio-like.

All right, different question. Is Andrew Luck an elite quarterback?

So Carolina turns the ball over 4 times (including a Ted Ginn whiff of a Mortar Kick) and the Panthers still hang 46 on the Niners.

I'm thrilled, I guess? That's probably the most disappointing 19-point win I've watched in maybe ever.

On the plus side, Carolina's back into a tie for first in the NFC South.

I was at a bar to watch the Ravens/Browns game and it was only showing on one screen. When it got to 20-0, a Pats fan wanted to change the channel because "you aren't coming back from that blowout".

I told him to shut his pie hole and sh*t has candy ass down unless he wanted it beat down and that touching the remote was going to bring that about with a quickness. Oddly enough, four Browns fans backed me up on it.

Sorry we let STL down. As the victim of d-bag owners absconding with a prized cultural touch point (Supersonics), we failed you. Or maybe I should say the offense failed because the defense played well.

Through 2 games:

APG (against) = 9.5
(For) = 7.5

f*ck LA, man.

Go back to the previous song, NBC.

Two weeks in and I'm already at "I hate football" stage.

Man this should have been an awesome night for Teddy, opening the new building.

And after Louisville's big win yesterday.

I'm not really sold on that data, to be honest. I'm sure travel has an effect. It would have been nice to see what east coast teams do when they travel west. And different %'s for different start times would help. I would imagine that if this holds, then east coast teams get royally screwed going west for primetime games.

You would have to show a lot more data to really make the conclusion that travel is more significant to west coast teams than east coast teams.

How much better can the Kia Tecmo Bowl commercials get?

The head shot that NBC's using of Bradford makes him look like a deer in the headlights of the packer's defense.

He looks like the flash surprised him.

As a thought exercise, how many folks think that the best NFL team in history (the 1972 Miami Dolphins of the perfect season) could win a single game against the worst team in NFL history (the 2008 Detroit Lions of the winless season)? I don't.

Personally, I think it would be a one sided beatdown the likes of which you generally only see when a top 5 nationally ranked college team plays some mail order bible college in their tune up game at the beginning of the season. That is how much better athletes and coaches have gotten. That is how much harder the game has gotten.

This is what I think of when Baby Boomers talk about how "easy" Millennials have it.

Are you sending the 1972 Dolphins into the future with modern training and rules, or sending the 2008 Lions back in the past to play 70s football without the benefit of modern training?
