This seems to be the gun...and while I am not a police officer I don't know how they would be able to tell it from a real gun

That looks like a gun. Maybe if there were less real guns in the wild we wouldn't automatically assume everything was a real gun. We could start there?

Yeah, I'd automatically assume it was a real gun from that picture.

I am honestly not sure of that. Dylan Roof didn't get shot.

Touché.

While we're talking about police culture and training, this happened. The cops look like they should be in Afghanistan instead of Attleboro.

I'm still hung up on the fact that the police didn't shoot him even though he threatened the store employees, said he had both a gun and a bomb, tried to set a gas pump on fire, rammed police cars that were blocking him in, and then ran from the police on foot.

I mean, my cousin's ex-husband had a 14 hour standoff with the SWAT team after pointing a cop at an officer, and he only got arrested and charged with domestic violence charges. That was after my divorce and he's already out.

This tickled my brain so I wanted to preserve it, but will refrain from my urge to make a joke. Serious topic.

BTW, there's a thread for Violence at or by Police we can go to for further discussion.

It's more likely Roof wasn't shot because he complied with police commands and didn't resist arrest. The encounter started with 4 officers approaching Roof's car with weapons drawn.

(and also cause he's white so he got the benefit of the not getting shot immediately)

it is rather hard to argue it wasn't race when not 2-3 months ago a black man completely and fully complying with police commands was shot and we all go to see how his girlfriend sobbed over his body while the police did not even try to offer aid.

Gov. Scott Walker and the GOP-controlled Legislature approved a measure aimed at retroactively shielding paint makers from liability after a billionaire owner of a lead producer contributed $750,000 to a political group that provided crucial support to Walker and Republicans in recall elections, according to a report released Wednesday.

Citing leaked documents gathered during a now-shuttered investigation into the governor's campaign, the Guardian U.S., an arm of the British newspaper, reported that Harold Simmons, owner of NL Industries, a producer of the lead formerly used in paint, made three donations totaling $750,000 to the Wisconsin Club for Growth between April 2011 and January 2012.

Simmons' donations were made before and after Republicans approved two laws helpful to the industry — one in January 2011 and the other in June 2013. The 2013 measure was inserted in a budget bill in the middle of the night despite warnings about its constitutionality.

Missouri: The Shoot-Me State

The law will let citizens carry concealed weapons in public without a state gun permit, criminal background check or firearms training. It strips local law enforcement of its current authority to deny firearms to those guilty of domestic violence and to other high-risk individuals. And it establishes a dangerous “stand your ground” standard that will allow gun owners to shoot and claim self-defense based on their own sense of feeling threatened.

Note to self: Never go to Missouri. Got it.

Wow. What the hell.

I'm sure that this complete "wild west" freedom will be respected equally by law enforcement agencies for people of all ethnicities. /s

This might be the most depressing thing I've read in ages.

Probably belongs in the internet trolling thread... but yeah, that is depressing as hell (I'm down to the picture of him shaving and have no more desire to read). It sounds like he's only in it for the thrill and screw however many people's lives he ruins in the process.

Surprising though, is how openly he is disregarding the tenets of the alt-right... and how little they care about that.

It's a post fact world. All that matters is the lolz. Nevermind there are actual things at stake. Lives that will be ruined. As long as people are entertained.

I wish sites like Bloomberg wouldn't give him the attention he craves.

One thing that intrigues me though is the idea of the illicitness of being gay having gone away, so be a Republican gay instead. That... seems incredibly stupid. There are plenty of ways to be illicit in your sexual encounters that don't open yourself up to being legislated as subhuman.

Definitely a depressing read, but also confusing. As I skimmed through, I see he's gay and hates Muslims, except for his boyfriend of 10 years? And then doesn't like to hire gays because of drama or something. Like WTF. Does this guy not realize how ridiculous he sounds?

And drumming up support with a bunch of homophobic, Islamophobic racists, who would probably love to see him deported or locked up too.

There's a video of him talking to Joe Rogan about how much he wishes he wasn't gay, and you can really see how much it distresses him.

He doesn't believe half the things he says. He spouts offensive nonsense because he loves to get a rise out of people. He doesn't care about how it affects other people's lives.

"...and justice for all" includes morons. Morons are allowed to seek justice through the courts, just like people who have two brain cells to rub together.
