Post a picture, argue with me!

Probably because you are a white dude.

Is there where I decide to interpret what you meant, and then you get offended?

I'm not offended.

Civil dialogue is a wonderful thing.

I have no idea what you're saying here. Can you clarify?

That was my imagined internal dialogue of the guy posting "both?".

Good.

I think your comment about civil dialogue was sarcastic, and that you are offended that SpacePPolicemanis pointing out how you regularly miss the point of the memes you post because you are a conservative white dude with a blind spot for both the misogyny and bigotry that is sometimes the source of the things you post "innocently," when you do these drive by snarky posts.

Note, I'm not against drive-by snarky posts. But we all own those posts we make as much as ones where we are more direct.

Have we really reached the point on this forum where anyone who is not a rabid Hillary fan is openly declared racist/ mysogynistic and a free target for insults and ridicule?

In all fairness I've been a poster here for well over 10 years. I've made hundreds if not thousands of posts. If you could show me just one example of a mysogynistic or racist post I have made, I would gladly be open to correction.

If not, then please stop throwing around baseless accusations at those who don't agree with your opinions.

No, I think we've just reached the point where the gulph between the candidates is just so ridiculously, enormously, almost unbelievably vast. The patience liberals had for the various false equivalency sorts of arguments you get from people on so many issues was already wearing pretty thin. Trump has obliterated it.

Also, typically in these scenarios the internal dialogue has been "I guess I should smile and be polite about this, I don't want to be rude!" Now it's closer to "alright, I really can't let this go by, Trump is talking about imprisoning and assaulting journalists, expelling and forbidding Muslims, purging government offices and replacing them with loyal followers, canceling our defense treaties while ratcheting up military activity. If I smile and nod I am failing to do my American duty to attempt to explain to people that no, both sides are not 'equally bad'".

It's also a tiny bit extra annoying from you because you just posted how upset you were a few days ago about how upset you were about the "scare mongering" on both sides. So to have you post since then one stupid and illogical hit piece on Clinton and then a false equivalency meme on both of them... just aggravating.

I like that post by Yonder a lot not because of the call out, but the way he did it. It's open, direct, thoughtful, and respectful given the content of his message. If we're going to disagree, this is the best way to do it. If Nomad doesn't agree with what Yonder is saying, he was given enough material to do so thoughtfully in turn.

I enjoy reading that post alot. Just saying.

I thought it was good too, even if I didn't agree with some of his opinions. Civil discussion is a wonderful thing.

Quite. Quite.

Maybe this is a terrible thread for anything, *but* drive-by snark.

What's the deal with groups like 'women for trump' , 'muslims for trump', etc

Assuming these are real and serious groups*, even if extreme minorities it would seem so contrary to one's self interest as a member of those groups to vote for a man so expressive of hate and divisiveness against a group of which you are a member.

*note: I'm Poe's lawed out and especially this American election I have no friggin clue who is serious vs satire.

No, but I've reached the point where I'm losing my patience when it comes to people who don't see (or don't care) that Trump is so much worse for anyone not a white straight cis rich Christian man. The things he's saying are ludicrous. If he wins and actually acts upon them, deities help us all.

I think it was a good idea when it was created, and it served a worthwhile purpose, but at this point you're probably right.

I didn't intend quite this spiral, but I'm definitely calling bullsh*t on disingenuous pearl-clutching and monocle-dropping over civil discourse in a thread that has "argue with me" in the title, where the previous picture was a Batman-themed meme.

I'm also +1ing responses by Yonder and dee, which were very much what I had in mind when I shared that pic. Trump has snapped the dog whistle in half (a remarkable feat for such tiny hands), and I too have precious little patience for anyone who will claim not to see that because it was presented with a PG level of crudity, once, somewhere on the internet.

Yup, like I said--time to shut this thing down. It has run its course.

Or it's time to just take the thread for what it is and not got too worked up over it.

Who knows what it is, but whatever it is, it isn't good. It was good for a time, and served its purpose to keep people from passively-aggressively ruining the Entertain Me! thread. It had a nice run.

"Don't be sad because it's over, be glad that it happened."

It's just election season. Just 98 more days, right?

Actually, I've posted my campaign released images in the Election thread. Maybe that's better?

Maybe it needs rebranding as a political meme catch-all. I've seen a trend of "argue with me" threads getting out of hand when people actually argue.

I agree, I've always thought of this as the thread for the PC images that aren't already topical in an existing thread, and whose subject probably doesn't have the legs to warrant a thread of it's own (a thread that would hopefully not be opened solely with said picture).

Creator of the thread has asked it to be locked.
