Monster Hunter Generations (Ultimate) (3DS/Switch) Catch-all

Oh, also FC:
3909-7524-1929 Cube

Just watched that quick look and got really excited to play. Preordered the other day and will update on the friendcode when I pick up my 3ds. Reading through the wiki now to get all the info I can.

EDIT: Wow the amount of variety in weapon styles combos and how those interact with monsters is amazing, I have just been reading over those for the past hour. So much to learn!

I think I've added every FC posted so far. Managed to download the demo yesterday, but haven't played it yet, I need to check the Switch Axe video first.

Wow, the sword and shield looks crazy in Generations:

I had no idea they added the oils, and the hunter arts look awesome. I think that might be my first alt weapon.

SNS Striker does sound awesome. SNS was always very good at mounting anyway, 2nd best behind Glaive, since you could mount up ledges.

Most of the basic moves and combos look just like 4U, but the arts are something else.

Oils that give you basically a 2nd or 3rd rank armor skill are pretty interesting too though. Wow.

You guys are probably talking me into this one.

I've always found the mobility of SnS so fun--trips, status/element is effective, up-ledge mount, item use, etc. It's funny I've never tried dual blades. They don't have all of that, but it's not like I use the shield to block (unless in a pinch).

I'll be playing, FC is in my signature. Not sure if I already said that up-thread.

Awesome. It looks like we might have more for multiplayer than we did for 4U.

Here's all the friend codes in one convenient place, I added everyone on the list, and placed mine at the bottom

If you friend me, and it doesn't auto-accept, please PM me so I can add you.

I'll probably be lagging behind, but definitely playing.

At some point I will update the OP with everyone's friend codes, ok? I've just been a little busy this week! Good to see so much interest though! it's gonna be great!

Looks like koz is the only one missing me on the list. Two others I didn't have but when I entered them that had already added me.

I'd like to participate in jolly cooperation as well, FC is 1092-0728-4255. Will send requests to listed people. Also f Cephadrome, what an aggravating monster. Just tried him again in 4U.

EDIT: I've now added everyone on this page. And I'm UTC +3.

Thinking about downloading the game instead of cartridge, I bought the MH4U New 3ds and that one had it preinstalled and I enjoyed it being on the system.

I'm considering digital for this too, although I didn't for 4U. I got some 20% off eshop cards a couple months back and have some money just sitting in the eshop. Might as well buy something digital and get some MyNintendo rewards too.

I have a strict rule, anything over $10 I buy in hard copy. Never know what may happen digitally. (Does not apply to Steam, obviously, just console stuff.)

I put 300+ hours into my last 2 MH games, so I'm definitely going to go digital again. Must have MH with me at all times!

I should be friends with everyone that has posted codes now. If I missed anyone, let me know.

I will go digital as well. I like having MH games available at all times.

Lost save data a couple times while transferring systems on digital games, so I go physical for important stuff on 3DS. Helluva bummer to lost my Fantasy Life and Theatrhythm save data, I'd hate for that to happen with MH.

I've gone all digital on all of my game purchases when it's become available on a given platform. Nintendo's wonky digital practises make it hard to be fan sometimes but the practicality of having everything on the device is just worth it.

I've never actually thought about this, but the saves are on the internal SD-card right? In case of lost 3DS or game, could you just copy the backup of the SD-card and it should work?

I played and enjoyed MH4U last time around but I never really play online. I'm hoping to change that, I've added everyone who posted their FC so far and mine is below:

Also, I've been playing adept bow on the demo and I absolutely love it. Pretty sure it will be my main weapon come Friday. I never played bow in 4U and always found it unwieldy, but after watching the gaijinhunter tutorial and messing around a bit it finally clicked.

In theory yes. If you make backups frequently enough. Although there are some games it won't work for, such as Animal Crossing. If you load your town up even once after your previous save it changes something so that your old save won't work, to prevent some kind of save-scumming stuff. But most games don't have that issue and should work.

The other problem is with the new 3DS. It's a real pain to get to the SD card. Which is why they added a wifi SD card backup feature. But it's the slowest thing I've ever seen. I tried it once and just gave up on it ever finishing.

So yeah I haven't backed up my save games in probably a year or so. I really should do that.

Do you need one of the new 3DS to play this or will one of the old ones still work okay?

Any 3ds works. The New 3ds gives you a stick to move the camera instead of having to use the touch pad. I played a lot of 3U on a normal 3ds without too many issues.

Not required, but it's probably preferred. Shorter load times. And MH4U had better textures for the New 3DS. Was pretty noticeable in some of the comparison videos. I assume the same will happen for this.

EDIT: Duh yeah, the stick, and not needing the circle pad pro separate.

Thank you!

Downloaded the demo and actually killed the quest objective. This is surprising as the last one I tried I couldn't even do that. May be purchasing as I'd like a good coop game to play.

If you do, be sure to post your 3DS friend code and add everyone else from the last few pages.

I added everyone, the only two I didn't already have were Ted and Koz. Add me back when you can.

Also going digital, I have 0 ragrats from mh4u. I wish I could pre-order on the 3ds eShop.
