Look Who's Dishonored Too - Catch-All

I assume that the sequel means that the dark ending is canon, has that been confirmed?

Corvo and Emily are both still alive, so that eliminates the really dark ending.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot that there was a super dark ending.

That's the problem with writing a sequel to a game with multiple endings. Particularly complicated ones. And Dishonored doesn't just have the major endings plus minor variations like the Sokolov/Piero bit, it also has each of the kills along the way and some pretty significant changes in the side-stories, like what happens with Granny Rags.

I don't really expect them to go the Elder Scrolls route of declaring all of the previous endings true.

They're kinda giving themselves room by setting it outside of Dunwall and about 20+ years in the future. Any ripples from how you did the various missions or things like Granny Rags will have long since died out. So really only the "Emily the Wise" or "Emily the Cruel" endings will have an effect, and since it looks like Emily loses her throne early in the game they can likely retcon for both by saying the difference depends on if you are talking to her supporters or her detractors.

It's $99, Amazon has it (if you get the Prime discount), and will probably sell out pretty quickly. (EDIT: Not just Amazon, it's in the Bethesda store, and GameStop, and probably other places too... no retailer-specific bonuses I saw. I just know that for me personally, the Prime discount is a big deal.)

Also: everyone who preorders Dishonored 2 (presumably both this fancy edition and the regular one) will get a free copy of the Dishonored Definitive Edition. Guess maybe I should sell mine while it's still worth something...? This part seems a little weird; I can't imagine anybody preordering Dishonored 2 and not already having a copy of the first game. I mean, maybe the original last-gen version of, but still...

That statue is bad ass.. and for once PC gets a collectors edition as well! Sold (the 20% Prime preorder discount makes this even easier to impulse buy lol)

Huge thanks for posting that, I loved Dishonored so much and that mask looks so nice that I picked it up.

Pre-ordered. I am weak.

Set 15 years after the original game, Dishonored 2 is—in creative director Harvey Smith’s words—“the second half of the original story.”

Haha sure it was—and if Dishonored 3 gets green lit, then "Dishonored was always intended to be a trilogy".

“For whatever reason, we have a wider range of demographics who like our game than is traditionally true and I love that,” Harvey Smith says. Dishonored 2’s two protagonists represent one way that the sequel celebrates this diversity, and the cast of principal characters is another. “I love writers like Ta-Nehisi Coates who talk about how important it is to have a representational avatar for a comic or a game,” Smith says. “Not just a grizzled white dude. That’s an easy trap to fall into. We found that the more we include other types of people in the world, the more it resonates with a wider range of people and it doesn’t hurt the core audience at all. It doesn’t hurt the core fantasy at all.”

That is awesome, and probably one of the few times I've seen a mainstream developer make something close to a political statement.

I like Harvey Smith.

I had hoped we'd see a bit more island-hopping this time with a few more changes in scenery. They created such a great world that I'd like to experience more of the various inhabitants and cultures.

I'm still stoked though! When when when when when?!

Since I quit the PS4 I don't have any of the dlc for the first Dishonored, so $80 for all that is a stealthy steal.

Although it's a very affordable collector's edition, it seems like at least the entire first run of the $60 version will be the "limited edition" and include the remastered first Dishonored with all the DLC. If, you know, you aren't the kind of person who is into physical extras.

(Also, for anyone confused: the MSRP is $100 for the collector's edition, but that great Amazon Prime discount probably brings it to $80 for most of us. Then again, if you have that, you're also only paying $48 for the cheap version.)

Good point about the discount applying to the vanilla version too. For me personally the collector's edition is especially tasty because my wife was so bummed that she couldn't play as a female in the first one, and the sequel arrives near her birthday.

"It's serendipity, baby!"

Wow, Emily is brutal.

Wow and wow! Cannot wait!!!

I was trying to decide which character to play. Now it's easy: Emily for the dark path and I'll replay Corvo for the light.

She used to be such a nice girl.

She's just like her father...

Psh. Her father never killed anyone! I have the achievements to prove it.

Looks like they're sticking with the temptation mechanic.

In that regard, I think Dishonored might be one of the best games ever done. Other games tell you that their Devil-analog is a great tempter of men. But in Dishonored, you are actually tempted. It's brilliant.

The powers are so much fun! But they kill people! But they're fun!

EXACTLY RIGHT.

May our enemies always recover three days later, confused and wondering why they are all stacked on top of each other in a tiny cupboard. With the only lasting damage being to their pride, and the humiliation of never, EVER getting their own squad after tonight.

I don't know what you people are talking about

Yeah, my enemies never wake up.

This reminds me of something I hope Dishonored 2 fixes: I hope they frame speaking characters properly during the first-person cut-scenes. Put their faces toward the top of the screen, not in the dead centre with a bunch of negative space above them! Does no one at Arkane watch TV or movies?

I think most of my responses to this game these days amount to little more than: "Squee!"

They're really showcasing the ultraviolence in the trailers I've seen so far. I was pretty stealthy in the first game. Did it also have this kind of blowing-bodies-apart level of violence if you went hardcore murdery?
