Post a video, present me a POV!

What Would It Take For Donald Trump To Lose Your Vote?

Consider that what is really being asked is "what would it take for you to let Clinton win the election instead of Trump?", then turn it around and ask in the presidential election thread "what would it take for you to let Trump win the election instead of Clinton?"

Suddenly the video isn't quite as funny. Honestly, it was more depressing than funny, and I think the opposite would be as well.

Edit: To clarify, I am not equating Trump and Clinton. I am equating "opposition voters"; those to whom the other side is The Enemy, rather than those who are supporting a candidate specifically because of their strengths and merits.

I have very much become a vote against Trump person. If it would have been Jeb vs. Hillary I might have sat it out or even voted for him. He was middle of the road (like the majority of the country), he had a track record of being a reasonable leader, etc. but Trump...? I will actively work against him.

The man has said he would consider replacing women who wear the hijab with veterans.
So practicing religious freedom in the US is grounds to be fired? How is that remotely "American"

Because in Trump's world only straight, Christian white males are "real" Americans.

I was thinking more like "because troops."

Also, to be blunt, religious freedom is the version of "American" that should be in quotes. Because it's definitely only a theory, and not a practice. What Trump said is America in practice.

So, what would it take for Clinton to lose your vote? /Kimmel

Spoiler:

I'm a "vote against Trump" person too. I'm just making the point that I think Kimmel's video was misguided and not as damning as it appears at first glance.

Edit #2: we should have an election night hangout or something and commiserate!

Farscry wrote:

I am not sure it is possible. Which, I know, makes me as "bad" as the Trump supporters but I can't see how I could support a Trump presidency.

Farscry wrote:

I've got an answer for this.

It would require Clinton to be less competent and qualified for office as Trump.

So, you know, major head trauma or a psychotic break (on her part or mine)?

Even then? One candidate is advocating for sexism, religious intolerance, and homo/transphobia. As long as there is a candidate on the ballot advocating for hate and inequality, the other side's pretty much always going to have my vote. :\

It would also require white supremacists and neo-nazis to start flocking to her as a savior. They would have to see her as the culmination of their campaign to get their abhorrent views regarded as simple mainstream partisan spats, like Trump. Is that an unreasonable standard? My magic 8 ball told me "No."

Didn't feel like it fits in the entertain me thread, so

There are things that Hillary could do that would make me *want* to vote against her, but in a binary choice between the two, the Party behind Trump scares me far more than the prospect of one mediocre Democratic President. I have to vote against Trump given that choice.

(For those who care, yeah, the email thing has me willing to look at a moderate Republican, but there haven't been any on the national scene for 25 years now, so...).

How did I know you were almost certain to give one of the most reasonable (if not the most reasonable!) answers?

Because I'm that beaten down by this election's events...

Um, no... I was trying to compliment you for your track record of fair and balanced (seriously, no sarcasm) posting.

No, seriously, I've left ideology behind and I'm just looking for the least damaging candidates based on the policies they are associated with (not necessarily what they promise). To me, that's damage control, rather than political participation, and it's the first time I've felt this way. Even Reagan and Bush had some positions I agreed with (Bush was *amazing* on fighting AIDS in Africa, for example).

Today's crop of Tea Party extremists, "Libertarian" Bircher patsies and Nixon's Neocons flocking to Hillary have left me exhausted and depressed. It used to be fun to discuss this stuff. Now there's no room for that; it's all "with us or against us".

Scary and depressing, and what's the upshot? Even if Clinton gets in, a Republican Congress will just keep trying to crumble the government into failure. That's horrifying, and we're at the point where I was convinced ten years ago that we'd *have* to be dealing with policy and program overhauls for major entitlements (I believe I cited 2017 as the year to start worrying if these didn't happen).

And my worst case, "not even Republicans would be that irresponsible" picture of fear has fallen short of the mark. We are very, very close to having over a third of population truly happy with the idea that the Federal government should be allowed to (or will inevitably) fail catastrophically, just slowly rather than quickly. And they currently control Congress through the rules empowering the minority.

It's frankly horrifying and all we can do is try to elect people who are not aligned with the hard core ideologues on each side. And pray.

And when prayer is your backup plan, you'd better make the first plan successful...

So, it sounds like Germany is inexorably sliding backwards into an authoritarian state.

The German government seems unable to come to grips with the failings of its policies (particularly the Refugee program). Instead of backing down and fixing their problems, they are doubling down and trying to stifle dissent.

I don't think I'll be listening to youtuber who seem to be very vocally anti Muslim, is big on calling people "SJW's" and has a video entitled "calling all Tra****s".

In fact, it's given me the details of another 'tuber to manually block from my feed. So thanks!

Oh boy - his twitter feed is just a magical wonderland too - BIG fan of racism and calling people he doesn't like 'cucks'. Charming fellow.

Note who you're responding to.

Considering that dude is pushing extremely violent racist musicians, very negative Muslim stereotypes, Cucking and attacks on SJWs on his Twitter, it's an interesting insight into Garom's thinking...

Yeah. I think I will put that Youtube channel in the same bin with The Daily Stormer labeled "places I will never visit".

Yes, I'm looking at his Twitter tight now. It clearly proves that Kraut is a total neo-nazi megalomaniac who wants to kill anyone who is a Muslim. Next, you'll be telling me that Bernie is a corporate schill for endorsing Hillary.
You may disagree with his political views, but you can't demonize everyone you disagree with through hyperbolic ad hominem attacks.

"Interesting insight" is a "hyperbolic ad hominem attack"? I just noted you posted the site uncritically, and that that combined with your previous posts provides an insight into your thoughts. If you don't like that insight, please, feel free to contradict it. But you created the association, I just noted it, and quite gently, too.

As you can see, I'm not the only one that drew that conclusion, so if you're sincere, this is your wake-up call that you've created an impression in people's minds through your posts which you seem to disagree with.

Ball's in your court.
