General VR Catch-All

I pulled down Eve Valkyrie and used Revive to get it playing on the Vive. Only messed around with setting up the hotas and flying around but the sense of scale in this game is top rate.

Played some House of the Dying Sun tonight. Really good game, would recommend.

Picked up DCS World and the A10-C module. Figured it would go well with my Warthog HOTAS.

Damn, I have a LOT to learn about flying, but it sure is a hell of an experience!

Tried Battle Dome tonight, pretty fun. How do you damage the enemy's core? I fired at it with the small handgun (had the paint gun in the other hand), hitting it many times, but I didn't see any indication that I was damaging it, or its health. Maybe you have to have a high caliber gun to do any affect?

Very cool game type, a lot of potential there. I hope the developer refines it, or someone comes up with a better implementation.

I'll probably pick this game up soon. How is the joystick support? I understand it doesn't have full HOTAS support, but can I play it with a joystick (saitek x55)?

Love this game. Works perfectly with my t160000.

I just played with the XBox One controller that shipped with the Rift. Controller works great, at least!

Latest patch has baked in joystick support including no hotas setups

Today I played dodge ball and Frisbee with (and maybe stuck a dart into and a bucket on top of) random strangers on the internet in Rec Room. It's a very simple social game with (I believe) always-on voice chat. While the avatars are basic, they feel much more alive than any other game avatars I have met online so far. Having a GWJ meetup once we have enough people with HMDs might be fun.

I also played Battle Dome. This game turns the mobility restriction of VR into an FPS territory control game. Hiding behind boxes, shooting around corners and aiming down sights feels much more immediate to me than in any non-VR game. Also, I might or might not have punched one of my pictures frames in my excitement, which of course might have dropped to the floor. Might have been worth it.

You guys are making me want to buy Battledome. Every time I almost do it, those graphics in the previews make my eyes bleed.

Do it. It really does not look bad in game. Basic yes, bad no.

I picked up Out of Ammo during the sale and got a chance to play it today. Very fun, with a lot of replayability. If you like tower defense type games, you'll really like it. You build and control units, but then jump into first person view of your units as you need to. The graphics are very minecraft-like, but it works.

Big thumbs up.

I did have a lot of fun with this game but do note it is a lot of bending down. Getting hooked i played for like 90 minutes and then my back hurt for a couple days (old/out of shape).

Ah yes, good point. I got a quite a workout playing it for a few hours yesterday!

Seriously considering building a dedicated PC for my Vive so I can move it to the basement where I have a lot more floor space to work with. Open space in my office is only 1.8 x 2.5 and that 1.8 really feels restrictive in some games...

How much room do you have in your basement?

I'm in the same boat. I'm ~2.2m on each side in my office, but my basement has a nice 4x4m space just sitting unused...

Some games definitely would play better in a larger area... I'm waiting to see some AAA titles before making the investment though.

If I didn't have a chandelier in my dining room I'd already have moved my office downstairs. Ceiling fans in my living room are also a serious impediment...

Garages are great too, if you don't mind parking your car(s) outside. I've reserved half the garage for VR and I'm already eyeing the other side.

Let's face it how often do you really use that guest room. That is what I used at least

Man I fought so hard against guest rooms when house hunting (because "Let's face it how often do you really use that guest room?") but converting one to a VR room is brilliant.

My sitting room is now the dedicated VR room. Wife is totally on board with this.

There's a couch in my office that I could totally remove and make more room... except that's where the girlfriend hangs out on her off days while I'm working. Maybe I need to buy her a beanbag chair?

On another note, finally got around to trying Hover Junkies. Damn, it's awesome! And intense. Worked up quite a sweat!

I got Hover Junkers finally as well. Played one round that was awesome even though I had no clue what I was doing. Friend me up on Steam. I'll probably be playing a lot in the near future.

Had to add: Hover Junkers is a BLAST. Really one of the only games for Vive right now that feels like a full traditional game. Tons of polish and super fun. Also the people I've run into have all been cool for the most part so far.

I think I'll be keeping an eye on the development of this game:

Looks like a total blast!

Anyone going to pull the trigger on Raw Data? It just released today. Reviews appear to be good, but the price is a little high -- $39.99 (but 20% off currently, @ $31.99).

I've already got too many VR games that I can't find time to get to, but damn I'm tempted.

Actually, most of my VR time lately has been in ViveCraft, playing on a server I created on a spare computer, with my daughter.

My next purchase was going to be either House of the Dying Sun, or Hover Junkers... but now I'm contemplating Raw Data.

Ugh, too many games, not enough time.

I grabbed Raw Data already. I love it so far. Great graphics (it takes a beefy rig to really pump them up though) solid voice acting and more polish than any VR game out there right now that I've played. It really does feel like a legit shooter in VR even though the enemies come in waves with breaks in between the phases. This is largely due to the solid mechanics and physics combined with locomotion which is teleportation but that allows you to see yourself zip to the next location (kind of like Cosmic Trip does). I've put an hour into it already just doing the tutorials and replaying the first mission a couple of times with the different heroes and some upgraded powers.

I imagine coop in this would be a blast. If anyone picks it up let me know. Also the roadmap of the features they're going to add with each revision means this is going to be getting a ton more content if all goes according to plan.

House of the Dying Sun is pretty baller, too, though.

Looking hard at Raw Data. How intense is it?

By the way, there's a free Vive game on Steam called QuiVR. It's in Alpha so the guy has decided to make it free for now. As you can guess it's an archery game. It features Co-op and endless waves of nasty things to shoot at.
