Abortion Debate-All

Gary Herbert is a brainless little toad who does whatever he thinks will look good to the withered husks that are LDS church leadership (picture Dragon Age's Xenon the Antiquarian, but without the wit, and there are I think 12 of him). It makes me long for the days of Huntsman, who realized that Mormons like money and would have an easier time getting it if the state wasn't viewed as a joke.

I believe that some of the drugs pass the placental barrier and reach the fetus, but don't quote me on that.

Trump;
Abortion Ban Should Carry Punishment for Women
what punishment?

Trump said the punishment would “have to be determined.”

Granted that's IF it is made illegal, which I suppose is saying the hypothetical crime should carry a hypothetical punishment.

He also fails to specify how he intends to determine which cases of fetuses not resulting in born babies are intentionally induced.

Thanks. I was about to post the NYTimes article

He also seems to be okay with back-alley coat hanger abortions

“You go back to a position like they had where they would perhaps go to illegal places. But you have to ban it.”

How the heck did he believe that *that* was an actual defense of women's issues? Baffling!

Once again, Trump says out loud something that is only supposed to be hinted at, coded or dog-whistled.

Hasn't this always been on the planks of the pro-life movement?

Only Trump could make such a dumb statement that both pro-life and pro-choice groups denounced it.

Anti-Choice Groups Use Smartphone Surveillance to Target ‘Abortion-Minded Women’ During Clinic Visits

Women who have visited almost any abortion clinic in the United States have seen anti-choice protesters outside, wielding placards and chanting abuse. A Boston advertiser's technology, when deployed by anti-choice groups, allows those groups to send propaganda directly to a woman’s phone while she is in a clinic waiting room.

Well this was unexpected considering the current state of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Supreme Court overturns Texas restrictions on abortion clinics — The U.S. Supreme Court voted 5-3 to overturn restrictions Texas put on abortion clinics, including requiring that providers have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals and that clinics have standards equivalent to outpatient surgery centers.

Saw this little blurb at the top of the local news site when checking weather.

That's a surprise and a bit of good news for my Monday morning, thanks.

Kennedy joins the liberal majority, without even having to write the opinion. Shocking!

In the majority opinion, Justice Stephen Breyer writes that the restrictions "vastly increase the obstacles confronting women seeking abortions in Texas without providing any benefit to women's health capable of withstanding any meaningful scrutiny."

I have to imagine that pro-choice lawyers here in Ohio are busy drafting lawsuits given that our state legislature recently passed laws that are very similar to what was just declared unconstitutional in Texas.

I'd hope so. There's all of one left in SW Ohio near Cincinnati (none in Dayton), and that one has been under threat of closure for a while, making the closest clinic, should they close, that offers the service in Columbus.
