Need more friends to play with.
Add me on steam if you guys want get a game going.

Steam Name- Slytin

SpikeTheDwarf on Steam now. And I just played my first game. Played Survivor. The killer spawned right near me. My game lasted all of 2 minutes.

Not exactly my idea of fun.

I'm super interested in this, but since I bounce off MP games, I'm hesitant. But I'm really interested.

I'm loving it. I played around 20+ matches last night and never experienced Rubb Ed's issue. The main problem right now is if you want to play with friends you can't queue for others. Supposedly that feature will be added soon. The reason being is to stop people from cheating over comms.

I'm also very interested in this game but haven't bought it yet. Is it worth the ~$30 for the deluxe edition or should I just stick with the standard edition ~$20 (in Canadian Loonies)? Thanks.

I rarely ever buy deluxe I wouldn't know.

I bit the bullet and got the game. Friend me up if anyone is interested in playing. I think this game will be lots of fun virtual friends. I'll be playing tonight (Saturday) and Monday (June 20th around 9pm Mountain Time).

I'm really enjoying this game, but I worry about the future it has unless the devs make some balancing changes to help killers. High level survivors have an immense advantage right now. The maps all contain infinite juke opportunities so that experienced survivors are essentially un-catchable. This, combined with perks like Megs sprint perk or Claudette's self heal perk, makes it very tough for the killer. So we end up with killers camping the hook until someone expires -- this makes for a really boring game. I'm hoping they can adjust the maps and/or give the killers some other tools. The trapper is far and away the best killer class as he at least has some chance of limiting the juke windows with his traps.

I wound up uninstalling it after playing the killer once. He controls like a bad car with no power steering. It was just ridiculous, and no matter what I did I couldn't figure out how to deal with the data I was getting. Playing Survivor was no fun either, because it seemed like the killer almost always knew how to find me no matter how far away I'd gotten.

It's sad, because I really did have high hopes for it, but until they make some major changes, it's just not fun for me.

It took me a while to understand how to play survivor properly. The main tip I can give is to sneak (only run when you have to) and use physical objects to hide line of sight from the killer. The killer's FoV is fairly narrow and it is amazing how easily you can lose him when you juke once around a corner or through a window and then simply hide behind a tree or a rock. There are spots on each map that make a survivor un-catchable as you can infinitely juke through a series of windows or doors. A good killer will just leave a survivor and go elsewhere when he starts one of these sections as he knows he can't catch them. The trapper can also place traps in these spots -- the main reason he is the best killer type right now.

I've been playing as well, mostly as a survivor (occasionally I've even been living up to that title). Feel like I'm just starting to get the hang of it. Really like how tense it can be as a survivor when you barely get away/ barely avoid being seen.

I've only played as a survivor a couple times and was usually the first or second to get caught. By my third round I did figure out how the hide better and had a tense moment where the killer ran right by me while I hid in grass.

Luckily I watched some game play videos before I played so I knew that running would give away my position. I don't think they explain that very well if you are just a survivor. I've also heard that survivors leave blood trails after they have been wounded. If this is true does anyone know how it works?

I finally survived as a survivor. At the end we had both exits open, one person dead, and one on a hook. I tried to go back and save the guy on the hook but the killer was camping him so I couldn't save them. At least I finally survived and wasn't the first on a hook.

I also tried playing the killer and they all escaped which was embarrassing. Still need some practice. It's really hard to see as the killer. I couldn't even see the hooks when I finally did pick someone up.

Playing with strangers is not as bad as I thought. That said I still think this game would shine with a group of friends, virtual or physical. How would I go about organize a game with fellow GWJ?

The Developer Diaries might help?

Those diaries were great. I'd be inclined to try this were it available on PS4. Or if I could get a PC gaming space once more.

This did lead me to learn of Friday the 13th which is heading for PS4. It may be my route to the sort of experience Dead by Daylight have captured.

Playing on public servers is not as bad as I thought. Most people are very helpful at getting me off hooks and working together. I actually find myself yelling at my monitor for people not too help me if the killer is camping me on the hook.

That said I'm sill interested in trying the game with virtual friends. Is anyone interested in playing tomorrow night (Monday, July 4th) at 9:00pm mountain time? Is there a good way to schedule a game time?

Anyone still playing this? I am still having a blast. They have fixed a lot of this issues I had in the last few patches. They've also added 'survive with friends' mode to ranked. If anyone wants to group up and use Curse for comms, friend me up or post here and we can coordinate.

I haven't played much of anything lately due to summer vacation and other summer plans. Now that my routine is back to normal I should be online Monday nights (Mountain time) and other random time.

I just noticed there is a new update with a new killer. Is the nurse fun to play and/or play against?

Halloween update with Michael Myers is out today. So far, it looks like a great addition. Definitely adds a lot of atmosphere. Still having a lot of fun with DbD. If anyone is still playing or a new player, hit me up with a Steam friend request for some survive with friends.

Free weekend, I am on tonight if anyone wants in ! o0pinkdino99

A Nightmare on Elm Street DLC just dropped today with Freddy and a new survivor. (They also added Leatherface in a previous update.) If anyone picks it up with the sale (50% off this week), hit me up for some survive with friends. I can help get you up to speed on the game and the mechanics.

If anyone else is interested for this on PS4, it is currently on sale for 40% off. Given the decent sounding reviews, I picked it up, so we'll see how it plays. Anyone know how the couple DLC items play out? It sounds like the Halloween one actually gives additional levels in addition to the character. That seems like it would fracture the player base a bit.

New DLC out today with a new killer and survivor based on the Saw movie franchise. I've only put a few games, but so far it has been a fantastic addition with some really fun mechanics. DbD is my most played game over the last year. If anyone is playing this on PC or wants to get started with the game, friend me up. It is in a really good place right now with a far better experience than Friday the 13th. The game has a high skill cap with some solid balance between survivor and killer. I really love the asymmetric PvP aspect -- in some ways it reminds me of the old 'The Hidden' mod for HL2, but with a spooky slasher horror movie feel.

I’m starting to get tired of Friday the 13th. Is dead by daylight a good meatier game orabout the same?

New DLC and 2.0 patch is out today. Also cosmetics! I'm still really enjoying DbD after two years. The devs have the game in a really nice place balance-wise. The next year should be a good one for the game.

I took a pretty long break from DbD and came back and found that the developers made some survivor gameplay changes, the biggest one being the pallet change.

It's really hard to get used to after putting in so much time with the previous pallet system. Playing as both the survivors and the killer in the game, I didn't think the previous system was overpowered for survivors. Does anyone feel like this change has balanced the game out or did it feel like an unnecessary change? And has it changed the way you play as a survivor (i.e. stealthier play vs trying to distract and dodge the killer when they have your teammate)?

Just bought the game on Steam Sale! I played a lot of Friday the 13th The Game and was told good things about this one. Anyone still playing? Any big differences between it and F13?

I play nearly every day (PC). Hit me up on Steam if you want to play some survivor games together. The game is not really comparable to F13 other than being a 'horror' game. DbD is more skill oriented vs F13 which always felt random, arbitrary, and unbalanced. Full disclosure: I really disliked F13 (I paid full price for it too).

There is a ton of depth in DbD that takes time to understand. I have over 700hrs in the game and I am still learning, and I pick up new tech and skills. The first thing I would learn if starting as survivor is an understanding of the map layouts and how to avoid/juke a killer. Killer is a lot of fun but requires a different mindset and focus and can be very unforgiving for new players, so I'd start with survivor. The killers all have different abilities, strengths and weaknesses and play very differently. Survivors are functionally identical and their abilities are dictated by the perks you use. The game is built around a perk system that you combine to create a build for your character. The perks give you special abilities --for example, faster sprint speed, the ability to self heal without an item, or information about other survivors locations. There are around 50 survivor perks and 50 killer perks. Each perk has 3 tiers. You unlock the perks via bloodpoints (the game's version of XP) that you get based on actions and skill in the game. Each survivor and killer has 3 exclusive perks that become 'teachable' to other survivors once the character hits rank 30, 35 and 40.

The game is fantastic, has a huge amount of replayability and balance. The devs are active and release regular patches. The skill ceiling is high so you can really sink your teeth in and get better without running into 'cheap' (unbalanced) mechanics. That said, there is a lot to learn as a newcomer, so be prepared to have some quick deaths and short games until you unlock perks and have a better feel for how things work. The best advice I'd give to a new survivor (most of my hours are in survivor) is to not play scared. Don't sneak around and repair generators. Get involved in the game, make saves, try and run the killer. You'll have more fun and learn more than playing scared and sneaking around the map. Also, the rank system is a joke. Don't pay attention to it. Just play and have fun. It is so easy to rank up now that is basically meaningless.

There is a double bloodpoint/XP event starting tonight (7/6) at 7pm, CST running to July 10. They very rarely do these, so I'll be playing a lot through the weekend. Again, friend me on steam if you want to play some together.

Overall the changes are good. The pallet changes took a little bit to get used to, but It was pretty survivor sided so I think it was necessary. I don't play stealth, and I still run the killer as much as I used to, so no real difference for me. I'm looking forward to Decisive Strike getting nerfed. Now just get rid of Hex: Ruin and the bloodlust mechanic, and I'll be happy.

IMO, the biggest issue with the game are some of the map designs --some maps still have infinites that are total bullsh*t. That said, the situation is A LOT better than it was when the game was originally released. Stuff like bloodlust and the pallet changes are just band-aids for map design issues. I hope they keep up the map re-work. Overall, the game is a lot more balanced now than it was in 2016.

Just started my first game. I’ve died three times in a row as a survivor, have yet to play a killer

Yep, you will probably die a bunch until you get a feel for the mechanics, learn the maps and unlock some perks. If you are still able to pip up, then dying isn't a big deal. Also, probably the most important skill to becoming a good survivor: learn to look behind you when you run so you can watch the killer while in a chase. I run around 1500 DPI on survivor and 800 on killer. The extra sensitivity on survivor helps.

Drop me a friend invite on Steam if you would like to do some survive with friends.

Cool, just sent you an invite.

Are there every GWJ team matches? This seems like it would be pretty fun to voice chat with people on but that doesn't look possible in-game.
